...wow! (Le Bateau Ivre), Saturday, 21 May 2011 23:57 (fifteen years ago)

God I miss those unique Juninho free kick goals from 35 yards or further from the goal <3

...wow! (Le Bateau Ivre), Saturday, 21 May 2011 23:58 (fifteen years ago)

think i preferred paulista to pernambucano

the original juninho used to play football with kids in the streets of middlesbrough....

nakhchivan, Sunday, 22 May 2011 00:03 (fifteen years ago)

I miss those freekicks too and Lyon misses them even more.

Jibe, Sunday, 22 May 2011 00:06 (fifteen years ago)

Oui, je sais. I'd hate the thought of Lyon struggling through the fucking Europa League next season :(

...wow! (Le Bateau Ivre), Sunday, 22 May 2011 00:08 (fifteen years ago)

Ugh plz no. Things are looking ok-ish right now tho, 2 pt lead on PSG with a game to play. I want them to be in the CL because I'm busy on thursday evenings! and for other obv reasons.

Jibe, Sunday, 22 May 2011 00:19 (fifteen years ago)

Emilio Izaguirre

I can't actually read his name anymore without singing it in my head. I actually woke up with that bloody song stuck on a loop in my brain.

I was randomly thinking about Stephane Bonnes yesterday. His name often pops into my head as a byword for underachiever. See also David Fernandez. Suspect I'll be randomly thinking of Marc Crosas in future.

ailsa, Sunday, 22 May 2011 14:41 (fifteen years ago)

Kind of curious why WBS was thinking of Brek Shea yesterday.

For me it's been Faryd Mondragon.

Frightening, but full of facts that are difficult to argue with. (dan m), Monday, 23 May 2011 02:47 (fifteen years ago)

"commentators are required by FA guidelines to refer to Ruel Fox by his full name at all times"

These guys are the best. Current heroes include Leighton Baines, Charlie Adam, and (rather uninspiringly) Scott Parker.

Jean Joel Perrier-Doumbe, whose winning goal in the 2007 Scottish Cup Final remains the only goal of his entire career.

we are not bemused (onimo), Wednesday, 18 April 2012 11:36 (fourteen years ago)

For reasons best known to myself (which I cannot explain), I spent a very long time the other day - apropos of some reason I can't even remember - trying to remember Helder Postiga's name. And now that I have remembered it, it is stuck in my head.

I liked Joe Doumbe better than most of his replacements.

Mitchell Burgzorg (born 25 July 1987) is a Dutch footballer who currently plays for Bulgarian A PFG club Ludogorets Razgrad.

r|t|c, Saturday, 26 May 2012 15:19 (fourteen years ago)

If Burgzorg can help the Dutch Lions defense at right back and help his rapping career at the same time, and that gets him to the Dutch Lions instead of Cambuur, more power to him.

Also I have a feeling looking at the first video that Mr. Burgzorg/Priester might be a marketing coo for the Dutch Lions if they can bring him on board.

Emerson

whose full name is apparently

Emerson Moisés Costa

I was trying to remember who it was that fucked off from Middlesbrough because his wife said it was cold and shite. I'd completely forgotten his wee spell at EBT-era Rangers.

you can't stream a pancake (onimo), Friday, 20 July 2012 23:25 (thirteen years ago)

i was thinking of the various brazilians who decamped to boro earlier tonight

used to have a fondness for them, gibson is the most admirable of the various small town made good types who used to predominate

nakhchivan, Friday, 20 July 2012 23:28 (thirteen years ago)

It was Christian Karembeu with the Middlesbrough-averse wife. Unless there was a whole raft of them (quite plausible, I expect).

ailsa, Friday, 20 July 2012 23:32 (thirteen years ago)

We got post-Boro Juninho for five minutes, his impact at Celtic was about the same as Emerson's at Rangers. As far as I know he's the only World Cup winner to ever play competitively for Celtic (Bobby Charlton played for us in a testimonial).
