lol I am winding up the aggro in this thread, in honour of Thudd's radge

Oh my at that goal of the month upthread - could make a perfectly respectable Premiership all-time top ten from that lot. Where was it hosted from though?

Youtube, obv!

he's not back fully fit as yet, but tbh he's handled the defensive aspects of both games this week brilliantly.
― just darraghmac tbh (darraghmac), Sunday, 18 April 2010 00:07 (sixteen years ago)
he's been great. i'm assuming that palacios will play against united, but who do you drop from the team that beat arsenal and chelsea?BAE, i guess?
― mizzell, Sunday, 18 April 2010 03:50 (sixteen years ago)
would like to see bale given license to destroy gary neville tbh
― maybe rabbits feel the need to play up their 'lynchian' qualities (acoleuthic), Sunday, 18 April 2010 06:54 (sixteen years ago)
Just watched Neville huffing and puffing vs City on MOTD - if Bale has anything close to Bellamy's pace Neville won't even bother chasing him, though he'll likely have a good go at slowing him down early on.
― i would just like to point out that i have been antimony on this thread (onimo), Sunday, 18 April 2010 10:42 (sixteen years ago)
slow him down with a good bumming? :)
― tart w/ a heart (a hoy hoy), Sunday, 18 April 2010 12:08 (sixteen years ago)
drop BAE, and there's no actual noticeable change in positioning from bale whether he's sent out at LB or LM imo
― just darraghmac tbh (darraghmac), Sunday, 18 April 2010 18:34 (sixteen years ago)
isn't that a problem defensively?
― mizzell, Sunday, 18 April 2010 19:10 (sixteen years ago)
in a week where we have deservedly beaten arsenal and chelsea i'm not sure i'm int he mood to acknowledge any problems.
BAE is a much-improved player, but if it's a choice between the team with him in it or Bale at LB and Palacios in DM, then it's an easy choice.
Thudd's performances in the centre with Modric this week- hardly have given Capello food for thought?
― just darraghmac tbh (darraghmac), Sunday, 18 April 2010 19:23 (sixteen years ago)
Capello will pick him in the squad but not play him IMO*, which would, I think, be fair
*barring injury/final group game
― maybe rabbits feel the need to play up their 'lynchian' qualities (acoleuthic), Sunday, 18 April 2010 22:24 (sixteen years ago)
what's fair is often wrong
plenty of time for thudd in the next two WC's i suppose
― just darraghmac tbh (darraghmac), Sunday, 18 April 2010 22:27 (sixteen years ago)
Hey guys, remember when Jenas made England squads?
tbf, if hargreaves can get a sub appearance or two then this shouldn't even be a question, sorry thudd lovers.
― tart w/ a heart (a hoy hoy), Sunday, 18 April 2010 23:28 (sixteen years ago)
um I seriously think dude deserves a squad place ahead of loads of people who've recently made England squads or even the first team
I await his total domination of Gareth Barry in the Fourth Place Decider with glee
― maybe rabbits feel the need to play up their 'lynchian' qualities (acoleuthic), Sunday, 18 April 2010 23:32 (sixteen years ago)
dude's done an Important Job for a High-Achieving Team - can't see how he can be left out really
― maybe rabbits feel the need to play up their 'lynchian' qualities (acoleuthic), Sunday, 18 April 2010 23:33 (sixteen years ago)
Started every game bar injuries/suspension- Jenas is a fading memory.
Hargreaves has improved hugely since never playing football anymore imo.
There's a place for Thudd in games against teams that will sit back and defend- a full-time DM won't be needed and won't have enough to contribute in attack.
But I doubt he'll go, Capello doesn't seem to fancy him.
― just darraghmac tbh (darraghmac), Monday, 19 April 2010 00:06 (sixteen years ago)
would this be the Capello who has given him a cap and IIRC said nice things about him
anyway, we'll see
― maybe rabbits feel the need to play up their 'lynchian' qualities (acoleuthic), Monday, 19 April 2010 00:14 (sixteen years ago)
means nothing- capello gave me a call up but i just sang three bars of a nation once again down the phone at him through a mouthful of brack

YOMP and a half!

apparently missing some quality YOMP action, although i did hear the echoes.

yeah but i love it when he loses his cool tbh he's so manly
― scrappy dyaoo (darraghmac), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 23:40 (sixteen years ago)
and then there was that handball about 2 minutes later
definitely got an aggro streak. some lovely passes today and some neat defensive work, thought he generally looked pretty good, albeit happy to let city play in front of him
― Mansun was where I fucked up (acoleuthic), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 23:46 (sixteen years ago)
maturity shown in the past maybe dozen games makes him a squad cert imo.
― scrappy dyaoo (darraghmac), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 23:48 (sixteen years ago)
I think Gareth Barry limping off increases the possibility of Thudd going to the World Cup quite considerably.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 5 May 2010 23:50 (sixteen years ago)
well no word on that yet but it didn't look too serious.
the fact that barry has been fairly anonymous in a fairly anonymous midfield for quite a lot of the season should probably come into play too.
― scrappy dyaoo (darraghmac), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 23:56 (sixteen years ago)
barry has always made a weird virtue of anonymity though: some players make it look easy, barry has such an excess of composure that he makes it look boring.
― joe, Thursday, 6 May 2010 00:02 (sixteen years ago)
i can't decipher if you're saying that's a good thing or a bad thing tbh
― scrappy dyaoo (darraghmac), Thursday, 6 May 2010 00:10 (sixteen years ago)
its a pretty important thing in the premiership in the moment: barry, carrick, denilson, ballack, lucas- all kind of that same anon but important centre mid
― tart w/ a heart (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 6 May 2010 00:19 (sixteen years ago)
i can't decipher etc
― scrappy dyaoo (darraghmac), Thursday, 6 May 2010 00:26 (sixteen years ago)
huddlestone has become that guy, but with three or four world class crossfield passes per game. a little more consistency in the goalscoring and i can't see how he won't be in the running for england's first XI
― scrappy dyaoo (darraghmac), Thursday, 6 May 2010 00:27 (sixteen years ago)
there was a beautiful moment where he dummied to shoot, beat his man, dummied to shoot again, then slipped it wide for lennon (who cut inside, crossed for the Crouch knockdown, fell to Bale on the rising half-volley, almost sumptuous goal)
― Mansun was where I fucked up (acoleuthic), Thursday, 6 May 2010 00:42 (sixteen years ago)
yes that was good. thudd dummies look nonsensical, it's like watching a glacier send you the wrong way over aeons
― scrappy dyaoo (darraghmac), Thursday, 6 May 2010 00:47 (sixteen years ago)
he did it a couple of times to notable effect. when he chooses to skin his man it is like some great natural wrong has been unleashed
― Mansun was where I fucked up (acoleuthic), Thursday, 6 May 2010 00:49 (sixteen years ago)
live an avalanche, but w/a football imo
― scrappy dyaoo (darraghmac), Thursday, 6 May 2010 00:51 (sixteen years ago)
^^^typo but this is what goalkeepers do when Huddlestone swings his leg back to shoot
