ILPhoto Gallery (a thread to show off your pictures)

Prompted by Joe on the Flickr thread on ILE.

I don't think we really have a proper picture thread, so this is it. Link to stuff you fancy showing off on Flickr, Photobucket, your own website, wherever. Invite constructive criticism, show us what you're up to lately, technical compare'n'contrast, ask for advice or just make people jealous with your holiday snaps/studio images of beautiful people. Anything goes as long as it's a photo you* took. SFW is a good idea too, I s'pose.

(* or partner, kids, close personal friend...)

I know these threads become browser-killers in time, so we can perhaps have ILP Gallery 2: Amusing Sequel Name, etc in the future.

I took all the photos on waldenplantation.com - they did some lolPhotoshop on their own to add grass in a few places that were still bare dirt

Aside from needing pictures of the B&B from all angles, different rooms, etc., the only thing I was told was that Brian (the owner) desperately wanted photographs of the house chicken salad. It was the best salad ever, blah blah blah. Watched the chef make it: greens from Costco, frozen chicken reheated in the microwave. FANCY.

I'm not sure you're going to get any repeat business from these people, Milo. Great work, though. Boy, they've stretched it thin..."Longhorns and landscape" shares half of its photos with "Fly-fishing" and the same ones appear again in "Kayaking", etc. Bless 'em.

Not sure I can share stuff I've done "professionally" (and those are massive inverted commas), but these are a couple I did for a friend's website about six months ago (and this thread reminded me to put them on Flickr). Not great but, y'know, it's nice to work to a brief for a change.

Came in here kinda excited to share some images, but discover than my last contribution was also extension-tube macro with bounced flash. Oh well. I didn't endure the worst case of pins'n'needles known to man not to post this though (kneeling on floor, trying to fine-tune focus with sticky Vivitar lens...)

the pix here are all lovely but michael jones is some sort of insane photography mentalist. both the london bridge snaps, of a station i've seen thousands of times in my life, are wondrous and deeply resonant to me. four lights in a row in the night one are basically god's judgement peering out of the sky and saying 'we see you'. and joe you did extremely well to find that monument on a day that cloud was there :D

Electric Universe (wherever that is) (acoleuthic), Friday, 8 January 2010 03:18 (fourteen years ago) link

You're very kind, sir. I don't think I'm much of a photographer really - just a snapper who geeks out a bit on the gear and has a modicum of technical nous. I'm in awe of the real talents/people who do this for a living (and there are a few on ILX, I think).

We probably need more people shots on this thread but I know how tricky that is. Even my own children hide from the camera these days.

One of the great things about that stag shot is how it's layered. There's no continuous foreground-to-background view. Instead, there are five or six discrete levels of depth. It's spectacular - well done!

Bummer about the roll, schlump! I think I related a similar experience upthread (or in another thread maybe?). I figure everyone's probably got at least one not-properly-loaded-roll story, and also probably an opened-the-camera-without-rewinding story. The latter one happened to me once, and I just kind of stared at the film dumbly for a second before slapping the camera back shut in a panic. I've caught myself starting to open a camera once or twice before realizing what I was doing.
The joys of film!
