johnny crunch, Saturday, 14 January 2017 23:17 (seven years ago) link

this ATL team is fun to watch

Neanderthal, Saturday, 14 January 2017 23:48 (seven years ago) link

yea not sure ive watched them since like october they are good huh

johnny crunch, Saturday, 14 January 2017 23:49 (seven years ago) link

lots of holes on defense but their offense is one of the most potent in years. though as long as they hang on, they're p much assured of playing in a dome for the NFC championship no matter who wins the other game, which helps

Neanderthal, Saturday, 14 January 2017 23:52 (seven years ago) link

wow RusselL I know you're down 16 with 8 mins left but lord

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 00:18 (seven years ago) link

they are fun - i don't think i've seen a single falcons game this season until today

game pretty much over now i guess

FREE BRADY (daria-g), Sunday, 15 January 2017 00:19 (seven years ago) link

I'm glad Seattle is losing - don't hate them, but this is not an incarnation of the Hawks that deserved the NFC championship.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 00:23 (seven years ago) link

the after party in ATL is probably gonna be sick tonight

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 00:25 (seven years ago) link

tell u what this is a good ol fashioned football butt kickin right here

lag∞n, Sunday, 15 January 2017 00:26 (seven years ago) link

hester still got it tho

lag∞n, Sunday, 15 January 2017 00:29 (seven years ago) link

amazing how long he's been an amazing returner, esp in the touchback era. used to be such a one-hit wonder position.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 00:31 (seven years ago) link

this is the thing, FAlcons will score 35 points while spotting you 20-25, and that's their downfall, but their Dh as been much better today, but that could be as much the Seahawks inconsistency with the ball as per usual this year.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 00:32 (seven years ago) link

ruh roh, Julio better be ok

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 00:34 (seven years ago) link

lol at Pete Carroll's wry "alright, you got us" grin on that overturn

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 00:40 (seven years ago) link

only way Texans are winning this is if they have some amazing trick plays and score on all of them

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 01:36 (seven years ago) link

lol @ shot of belichick scowling just now

FREE BRADY (daria-g), Sunday, 15 January 2017 01:37 (seven years ago) link

lololol there's a bailout and a half

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 01:38 (seven years ago) link

feel like the Texans scoring a TD requires stars aligning in ways that they never align

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 01:40 (seven years ago) link

awful drop

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 01:43 (seven years ago) link

if Houston thinks they're gonna win this game with all dump-off and underneath passes they are naive as fuq

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 01:45 (seven years ago) link

holy shit dion lewis

FREE BRADY (daria-g), Sunday, 15 January 2017 01:48 (seven years ago) link

I hate the patritos so much.

DJI, Sunday, 15 January 2017 01:52 (seven years ago) link

christ, Texans can't even score a TD on a short field.

Simms going out of his way to insinuate they're doing better this week but he's so RONG, this is typical Texans, settling for field goals all the damn time.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:03 (seven years ago) link

wow holy shit.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:06 (seven years ago) link

just kick the field goal now, Texans

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:06 (seven years ago) link

oh man

wtf pats

FREE BRADY (daria-g), Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:06 (seven years ago) link

hahahaha the mic picked up a Patriot screaming "oh, SHIT" on the fumble

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:07 (seven years ago) link

wow that was nicely designed

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:08 (seven years ago) link

houston hello

johnny crunch, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:08 (seven years ago) link

so sloppy

FREE BRADY (daria-g), Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:09 (seven years ago) link

Simms was talkin about how the Patriots never turn the ball over while a stat showed they lead the league in fumbles on kick returns and punt returns

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:10 (seven years ago) link

like ok sure their core offense doesn't, but that dude loves forcing narratives regardless of what the facts actually say

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:10 (seven years ago) link

right that was how cyrus jones lost his job as returner after messing up a couple.. and the next guy up also fumbled one (was that amendola? don't recall)

FREE BRADY (daria-g), Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:13 (seven years ago) link

of all the games I didn't expect to get exciting

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:14 (seven years ago) link

problem w/ Miller is he isn't an explosive back, he's just a dude that will get you consistent yardage which is good if you're a ball control offense that can move the chains consistently, but not when your linemen or receivers get penalized all the time and your QB can't convert third downs like ever.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:18 (seven years ago) link

Still doubt Houston is winding up with 20 at the end of this

frogbs, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:19 (seven years ago) link

#boom

FREE BRADY (daria-g), Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:22 (seven years ago) link

xpost considering they've had three drives begin in Patriot territory and two that started in FG range and they scored a whopping ten points on those drives, I would agree

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:23 (seven years ago) link

Houston's d could win this game tho if they keep playing lights out like this.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:24 (seven years ago) link

Yea reminding me a bit of the AFC championship but Houston still needs to score like 10 more points at least and their offense looks like a 3-and-out machine

frogbs, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:27 (seven years ago) link

Thats like the 3rd dropped pick by the Pats today

frogbs, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:28 (seven years ago) link

Osweiler bro there are some QBs good enough to thread a ball between four defenders but you ain't it. know your role, foo.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:29 (seven years ago) link

xpost I am thinking the defense will actually need to score

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:29 (seven years ago) link

they reminds me of the 2000 MIami Dolphins w/ Jay Fiedler and Lamar Smith in that the offense needs like special accommodations to do anything

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:30 (seven years ago) link

wow Clowney, damn

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:30 (seven years ago) link

Holy shit Clowney

frogbs, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:30 (seven years ago) link

foreeeeever to throw just now. nice

FREE BRADY (daria-g), Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:31 (seven years ago) link

pushoff by Edelman, so shocked

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:31 (seven years ago) link

still a good result for the Texans going into halftime. few people thought this one would be close.

but seriously they're only scoring on a double reverse flea flicker lateral if they score again at all. their offense is so vanilla New England could shut it down in their sleep.

gonna have to win with field position and giving up passes like that won't do it

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:32 (seven years ago) link

outside of their tendency to give up 40 yard pass plays, this Houston defense is playing excellently

frogbs, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:33 (seven years ago) link

I felt like the decision to drop back into coverage was the right one there tho

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:34 (seven years ago) link

Houston's gotta be really reeling from that kick return tho.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:34 (seven years ago) link

td saving tackle by Clowney

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:36 (seven years ago) link

woooooow

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:36 (seven years ago) link

is New England averse to running or somethin

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:36 (seven years ago) link

holyyyyyyyy shit

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:37 (seven years ago) link

man that's a huge stand

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:38 (seven years ago) link

unreal that the Pats didnt score a TD there

frogbs, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:38 (seven years ago) link

don't get why they threw on second down, that woulda been the down to run, as the defense had to sell out a little bit to account for a pass.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:40 (seven years ago) link

kick return TD would be nice here

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:40 (seven years ago) link

Simms all "Osweiler has to be happy with the way he played", is he fucking high? he was mediocre as hell. 10 points scored on drives that started in field goal range, and took a clever reverse fake to get the TD.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:43 (seven years ago) link

lol Brock 13 of 20 for 83 yards. 4.2 yards/attempt. basically using their passing game as a secondary run game, not gonna cut it.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:46 (seven years ago) link

lol the spread on this game was Patriots by 16.5? wish I'd come out of gambling retirement to have taken that one.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:52 (seven years ago) link

I got in at texans +16. Considering they hadnt scored a td in the last 3 games vs the Pats that seems about right

frogbs, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:56 (seven years ago) link

yeah I mean Patriots could cover that easily in most iterations of this matchup but in the playoffs against the #1 defense, only takes one or two one-off mistakes not to cover even if you otherwise dominate the game.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:59 (seven years ago) link

Miller's been like the only bright spot for the offense.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 02:59 (seven years ago) link

ladies and gentleman, Brock Osweiler

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:00 (seven years ago) link

Osweiler dropping back for 5 seconds then hitting his own guy in the knees at the line of scrimmage is pretty much Houston's offense in a nutshell

frogbs, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:00 (seven years ago) link

his slow reaction is a killer. the ball has to come out quick on that play, if there's nothing available, you gotta anticipate the pressure, move around, try to extend the play. i know he ain't the most mobile dude in the world but as soon as 3 seconds passed it was p obvious he was gonna fuck it up

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:02 (seven years ago) link

Meanwhile Brady has 171 yards on 9 completions

man killer of a missed tackle there

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:07 (seven years ago) link

Yeah watching Brock its nuts this guy got a big offseason contract, dude plays so much like a backup and I'd be shocked if hes still a starter in 2 years

frogbs, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:09 (seven years ago) link

welllllllllll there it is

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:09 (seven years ago) link

call all destroyer, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:09 (seven years ago) link

love the halftime adjustments baby!

lag∞n, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:10 (seven years ago) link

are "halftime adjustments" basically belichick yelling DO YOUR JOB at guys?

FREE BRADY (daria-g), Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:11 (seven years ago) link

sometimes he forgets to yell it before the game

lag∞n, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:11 (seven years ago) link

yeah it was inevitable really. if Houston thought it was gonna be able to shut out NE the rest of the game and eventually squeeze out a TD, well, they strategized poorly

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:11 (seven years ago) link

Yeah houston offense gonna have to figure something out quick or theyre gonna lose by 25

frogbs, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:12 (seven years ago) link

prediction of next series:

1st down: 4 yard pass in flat
2nd down: run for 3 yards
3rd down: Brock throws ball off of Patriot defender's hands

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:12 (seven years ago) link

heheheh i knew it was only a matter of time before someone mentioned 'patriots day'
assumed wahlberg basically made the movie for pats to show at team movie night, i'm surprised they didn't go yet

FREE BRADY (daria-g), Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:13 (seven years ago) link

haha that's the biggest gain of the game for the Texans

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:13 (seven years ago) link

kills me that MIller has been doing his job and creating manageable situations for Brockfarmer only for him to fuck it away

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:14 (seven years ago) link

funny thing is that was one of Brock's quicker deliveries this game, which says a lot

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:22 (seven years ago) link

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:22 (seven years ago) link

frogbs, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:35 (seven years ago) link

if that had been a fumble, would the illegal substitution have negated the turnover, or would it have just been deducted from the return.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:36 (seven years ago) link

like seems to me having more than 11 ppl on the field during a turnover return should be more than just a 'ok we'll take yardage back' but it was obv cos everybody though tthe play was dead

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:39 (seven years ago) link

I'd say the Texans passing issues are a bit more than the Qb. Two big drops on that series.

if you score a TD here just go for two, cos you're not getting another one, Houston

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:42 (seven years ago) link

Favre had the kindness to throw 6 in one game against the Rams xpost

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:42 (seven years ago) link

if Houston scores only 3 here, that basically would make 13 points off of three turnovers that gave them possession in Patriots territory.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 15 January 2017 03:44 (seven years ago) link

man if Houston somehow won this they'd have to be the worst team to make the AFC Championship in a hot minute

earlnash, Monday, 16 January 2017 03:59 (seven years ago) link

Pittsburgh at times thinks every game is an AFC Central game where being macho is as big a deal as being right.

earlnash, Monday, 16 January 2017 04:00 (seven years ago) link

most all of the remaining playoff teams just have major flaws this year.

the two teams you'd call 'great' at the end of the regular season were New England and Dallas, and one of them is gone.

Green Bay has a mediocre defense and have a converted WR playing RB (doing a helluva job tho). Pittsburgh has solid offense but despite it's solidifying in the playoffs, its defense isn't remotely comparable to Steelers past. The Chiefs are offensively mediocre despite having a fairly solid defense and amazing special teams.

Atlanta's defense improved significantly the second half of the year but you can still score on them.

Neanderthal, Monday, 16 January 2017 04:26 (seven years ago) link

as exciting as the last two minutes of the GB/DAL game was it really was marred by a couple of really bad coaching decisions - McCarthy deciding to run it on 2nd down at the Dallas 34 was incredibly dumb, basically playing for the long FG with a kicker who's historically really shaky in these situations, 1:30 and all 3 timeouts is an eternity and your defense is totally gassed, lo and behold they get it in FG range in two plays. then Garrett outdoes him by spiking the ball despite having :50 left, which is idiotic, that's like the one thing everyone knows about Aaron Rodgers right now DON'T LEAVE HIM ANY TIME ON THE CLOCK

anyway my heart rate is finally back to normal. Crosby's second attempt at the game winner looked like such a shank at first.

rewatching that sack on Rodgers in the 4th, I cannot believe he held onto the ball there. like 80% of the QBs in the league fumble when they get hit like that, including Rodgers who has turned it over that way many times (most notably in OT during that Wild Card game vs. Arizona). damn this game had all the elements of the gutpunch loss, except the actual loss.
