hi ILH! i've been watching The Last Dance, and it seems like MJ's hatred of Isiah Thomas stems mostly from the Eastern Conference finals games when the Pistons walked off early without shaking hands? but the Dream Team episode suggests dislike of Isiah Thomas was widespread in the NBA, and i have this vague sense from *the ether* that Thomas is sociopathic (but a different kind of sociopath than MJ, maybe?) Can anyone offer me guidance and/or a place to find out more about what the deal is with Isiah Thomas?

Basically, Isiah was a cheap and dirty player on a cheap and dirty team. He liked to start stuff for Laimbeer and Mahorn to finish. He liked taking cheap shots and throwing elbows. He was the smarmiest guy to play the game. He helped ruin the Knicks. While there he sexually harassed Anucha Browne Sanders. He bought and then bankrupted the CBA, the minor league basketball league that pre-dated the NBA.

Isiah got to run two different NBA franchises and Bill Laimbeer had to settle for being an all-time great WNBA coach. I think that shows the gap in how much nba people hated them.

As a Flyers' fan, it pains me to realize that the Detroit Pistons are basically the Broadstreet Bullies of the NBA and Isiah Thomas is their Bobby Clarke, a Hall of Fame talent obscured by his personality.
