On the old Swans e-mail list that i used to be on i said that i thought failure was one of the funniest songs i'd ever heard. some swans fans begged to differ. but jarboe agreed with me that people often didn't get the sense of humor in the group. My fave song right now would probably be "The Sound". But it changes from month to month. I was just listening to goddamn the sun the other day.

failure IS really funny, which is why it's so great. anyone who takes that song seriously needs a dose of giggles.

Do you guys that like that first album from when they got signed to Uni? Can't remember the name; it was the one after Children of God. I wouldn't mind hearing it again.

New Mind
A Screw (Holy Money)
Love of Life
Her
I Remember Who You Are

i'm the only Swans fan who thinks Love of Life is their best album.

Tim is talking about the Laswell produced the Burning World, which I assume Ian likes cause God Damn the Sun is from it. Much maligned by many since it's release, which is sad, way ahead of the curve on the Leonard Cohen/Lee Hazelwood kinda tip. Really a totally beautiful record. I think Gira doesn't/didn't like Laswell's production, but it's the best thing Bill did since Material were actually good, which was like 82 or so. I've only recently gotten the Angels of Light records. Totally great.

White Light..is my favorite album. Love Of Life would be second.

Burning World is great. That's what I was playing the other day. The British vinyl singles for that album sound waaaaaay better than the Uni vinyl.

Actually, I lied. Holy Money was the first thing I bought. Then the twelve inch. Holy Money is up there for me too. I love that album.

Re: Goddamn The Sun. That song is a fave for a lot of swans fans.
