Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 17:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I LUV HACKING MASS!

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 17:36 (twenty-one years ago)

The overall winner of HACKING MASS 2005 will be awarded $500 and a mint-condition, signed, framed photo reproduction of Commissioner of Major League Baseball Bud Selig.

HAHAHAHA, that's fucking awesome!

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 17:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I KNOW!

The Swingin' Misses are locked & loaded! (Roster to be revealed when I feel like it.)

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 17:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I wonder if I could enter my ILBB fantasy team.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 18:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I have to finish my team later, changing my obscure-ass players to maximize ABs. I think my team is called The Worst Damn Baseball Team in the World.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 18:44 (twenty-one years ago)

The Cream And The Clear Didn't Work are ready to go

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Lining up the Zeroes like S Club 7 will take the field next week.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 21:28 (twenty-one years ago)

My team is called Choke? We'd Be LUCKY To Choke!

Catcher Mike Matheny
First Base Jay Gibbons
Second Base Jose Castillo
Third Base David Bell
Shortstop Royce Clayton
Left Field Bobby Higginson
Center Field Luis Matos
Right Field Alexis Rios
Pitcher 1 John Lackey
Pitcher 2 Elmer Dessens

Third Base: Rob Mackowiak
Shortstop: David Eckstein
Left Field: Scott Podsednik
Center Field: Tike Redman

Last Year's ESPN total: 612

I have to double-check on JJ & Redman, tho.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 31 March 2005 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, if only Brian Jordan was playing RF...

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 31 March 2005 14:21 (twenty-one years ago)

One of my favorite things about HM: the wisenheimers that pick the BEST HITTERS, and end up in last place with a negative score that trumps the 1st place score, absolute value style.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 31 March 2005 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

C - Rod Barajas (Matheny and Ausmus were too obvious)
1B - Darin Erstad (yet I chose the most popular 1B option)
2B - Craig Counsell
3B - the chump from KC
SS - Pokey Reese
LF - Rondell White
CF - Brady Clark
RF - Alexis Rios
P1 - Kenny Rogers
P2 - Russ Ortiz

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Friday, 1 April 2005 21:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Lining Up the Zeroes Like S Club 7

Catcher -- Brad Ausmus
First Base -- Scott Spiezio
Second Base -- Craig Counsell
Third Base -- Morgan Ensberg
Shortstop -- David Eckstein
Left Field -- Mike Tucker
Center Field -- Endy Chavez
Right Field -- Aaron Guiel
Pitcher 1 -- Brian Anderson
Pitcher 2 -- Chris Capuano

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Sunday, 3 April 2005 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

NOTE: Endy Chavez has been sent down to start the year! Watch out!

David R. (popshots75`), Sunday, 3 April 2005 20:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Why do none of you people have Tino Martinez on yr sizzelfs?

Jimmy Mod Knows You Eat Your Own Farts (ModJ), Sunday, 3 April 2005 20:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Because the guys we picked suck more (in the context of this contest), and he probably won't get enough ABs to be worth taking.

David R. (popshots75`), Sunday, 3 April 2005 20:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Endy Chavez has been sent down to start the year!

Whoa, thanks! I switched to Marquis Grissom instead.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Sunday, 3 April 2005 20:51 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
Rich Aurilia anyone?

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 23:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Who's winning the Ausmus-Matheny race to the bottom?

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I would go with Ausmus so far, as if I recall from a box score, Metheny is currently hitting over .300.

Earl Nash (earlnash), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't find my team! What the fudge!

[xpost]

Matheney's actually at 1. The highest scoring catcher is John Buck.

My team seems to have 3 of the most popular picks on it (Milton, Estes, & Minky).

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm #152! I'm #152!

Haikunym (Haikunym), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm 1253! I'll get better worse, I promise!

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

hate to quibble, but i'm 1253...and i also ate 10 tacos w/ jeff weaver last night.

jonathan quayle higgins (j.q. higgins), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

SIXTEEN TWENTY! Jacque Jones is KILLING ME - stupid -23.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 22 April 2005 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm up to #1024. But it's misleading -- it's almost completely a one man effort at this point. Congrats to Brad Ausmus!!

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Friday, 22 April 2005 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

haha I have moved
up to number one hundred
and twentyseventh!

Haikunym (Haikunym), Friday, 22 April 2005 14:46 (twenty-one years ago)

how do I find my team?

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Friday, 22 April 2005 17:27 (twenty-one years ago)

just go to the link above, it should log you in and then show you where your team is

Haikunym (Haikunym), Friday, 22 April 2005 18:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, I had to search through the entire HM team log to find my team - is there a direct link to one's team somewhere that I'm missing?

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 22 April 2005 18:52 (twenty-one years ago)

The last place team right now isn't even a goof team; it's a legit HM contender!

Brian Schneider -- 6
Eric Hinske -- -3
Brian Roberts -- -31 [BURNINATED!]
Vinny Castilla -- -17
Pokey Reese -- 0
Scott Podsednik -- 8
Craig Biggio -- -8
Jacque Jones -- -23 [DAMN YOU JJ!]
Darrell May -- -2
Brett Myers -- -23 [BLESS YOU BM!]

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 22 April 2005 19:02 (twenty-one years ago)

#1493 for me - everyone's either breaking even or on the good side of bad (except for, of coure, JACQUE JONES).

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 25 April 2005 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Things are starting to normalize -- the last place team is a goof with Manny, Vidro, Mulder, etc.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Monday, 25 April 2005 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

And I've rocketed up to #320 today!

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Monday, 25 April 2005 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
Wow, does my team ever suck

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 9 June 2005 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

not as bad as mine. I gambled on Rogers, figuring the contract dispute and age would catch up with him.

http://www.baseballprospectus.com/hm/index.php?mode=team&owner=mlpowell&noncache=1118348681

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Thursday, 9 June 2005 20:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Things are not going well for my team.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Friday, 10 June 2005 02:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't understand - when your team is supposed to suck - is that good?

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Friday, 10 June 2005 02:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, the meaning is reversed in HACKING MASS, so "wow, does my team ever suck" = "these guys are pitching and hitting far too well".

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Friday, 10 June 2005 05:36 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG my team's anti-greatness is getting submarined by ROB MACKOWIAK!

Mike Matheny: 21
Doug Mientkiewicz: 29
Craig Counsell: -5
Rob Mackowiak: -26
David Eckstein: 6
Scott Podsednik: 24
Tike Redman: 14
Jacque Jones: -9
Eric Milton: 81
Shawn Estes: 11
Total: 146

And just so I remember where my team is.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 10 June 2005 13:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I also didn't realize (until this year) how simple the HACKING MASS scoring system was:

HITTERS = (800 - OPS) * PAs
PITCHERS = (ERA - 4.00) * IP / 3

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 10 June 2005 13:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Middle of the pack.

Jams Murphy (ystrickler), Friday, 10 June 2005 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

so, i told a friend about this thing, and he got so excited about it he set up a 2nd-half counting stat yahoo league where players maximize points by playing terribly, but also playing every day. so, games, at bats, strikeouts, gidp, etc are good for batters, while home runs, rbis, hits, etc are negative.
i told him it was too much effort, and he should just sign up for the bp version next season, but he was not to be deterred. so, i joined his league, along with a few others, and then drafted cristian guzman with my first pick.
perhaps the most interesting/frightening part of it is when one of your opponents selects someone who is on one of your "regular" fantasy teams. that's kinda painful.

the leglo (the leglo), Friday, 10 June 2005 17:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I know! I'm getting a little put off by how often I'm seeing Eckstein's name.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Friday, 10 June 2005 17:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't worry, Thermo - I'm more than put off by Eckstein's respectable performance this year. SUCK HARDER ECKSTEIN!

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 10 June 2005 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
Milo and I are both ranked in the 1800's now! 3rd percentile -- yeah!

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 17:53 (twenty years ago)

I'm 1081! Woo!

Mike Matheny: 9
Doug Mientkiewicz: 25
Craig Counsell: -5
Rob Mackowiak: -6
David Eckstein: 17
Scott Podsednik: 30
Tike Redman: 13
Jacque Jones: 8
Eric Milton: 108
Shawn Estes: -7
TOTAL: 192

Damn you Shawn Estes.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 18:19 (twenty years ago)

I can't find mine

Haikunym (Haikunym), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 18:41 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I dunno why they stopped showing where YOUR TEAM is in reference to the field. I think I do know why they nuked the STAFF link, tho - their teams kinda sucked!

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 18:50 (twenty years ago)

Nym! Here's a trick:

- copy the URL to my HM team into your browser's Address bar
- delete everything after "owner=" in the URL
- type in your Baseball Prospectus login name after the equal sign
- GO to that URL

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 18:55 (twenty years ago)

yeah it showed my team finally, I'm like #1522 because of John "I Forgot To Suck" Lackey and Jay "Unexpectedly Good" Gibbons

Haikunym (Haikunym), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 19:12 (twenty years ago)

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Monday, 3 October 2005 16:51 (twenty years ago)

You really know your deadweight!

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Monday, 3 October 2005 16:54 (twenty years ago)

That's bad right??? (in the sense that you picked somewhat "good" players who have caused an unsavory outcome)

xpost - so it's good??? urgh! *head explodes*

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Monday, 3 October 2005 16:59 (twenty years ago)

On the contrary -- I was almost in last place. I predicted crap from Morgan Ensberg and Chris Capuano ... but even without them, the rest of my team played far too well.

Also, two members of my Hacking Mass team played on my Fantasy Team this year. That's a bad sign.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Monday, 3 October 2005 17:00 (twenty years ago)

(xpost to Morbs)

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Monday, 3 October 2005 17:01 (twenty years ago)

Rob Mackowiak: 38
David Eckstein: 30

Jacque Jones: 25
Eric Milton: 153
Shawn Estes: 33
Total: 516

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 3 October 2005 17:04 (twenty years ago)

I retract then! Your shit detector is broken!

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Monday, 3 October 2005 17:08 (twenty years ago)

Where is Cristian Guzman? I thought that guy was a shoe-in for every team.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 3 October 2005 17:14 (twenty years ago)

I think my logic was that CG wouldn't get enough PT to really stink as much as DE. I was soooooo wrong on that tip. Also: I dunno why I didn't pick Brad Ausmus, as he's a HackMass god.

Damn you Mienktwiciziweicz.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 3 October 2005 17:19 (twenty years ago)

xpost

Guzman was the most popular pick at SS:

well there goes my weekend

(this is the only fantasy league I've ever played)

images of war violence and historical smoking (Dr Morbius), Friday, 4 April 2014 16:37 (twelve years ago)

harder to draft a HM team w/ Dusty Baker no longer making out lineups

images of war violence and historical smoking (Dr Morbius), Friday, 4 April 2014 16:51 (twelve years ago)

p satisfied with my provisional picks, but waiting to see how this week's pitching goes before I commit.

images of war violence and historical smoking (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 8 April 2014 20:30 (twelve years ago)

No more framed Bud Selig photos as prizes, no credibility.

I will still enter though, HM has been sorely missed.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 9 April 2014 11:40 (twelve years ago)

I am really torn about a few selections, for reasons we can discuss after Friday night. At least one position is kinda short on obviously bad players who will play a lot.

images of war violence and historical smoking (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 10 April 2014 15:18 (twelve years ago)

I am happy with my team name, but it's not as good as The Bingo Long Unravelling No-Stars (2008 i think)

images of war violence and historical smoking (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 10 April 2014 19:12 (twelve years ago)

less than 12 hrs to finalize your roster

tomorrow we can discuss how the hell our picks will still have jobs in 2 months

images of war violence and historical smoking (Dr Morbius), Monday, 14 April 2014 20:44 (twelve years ago)

presenting THE WILLS TO WIN! I was really torn about picking Arencibia, but decided not to, bcz surely Texas will not be stupid enough to give him 250+ PA even with the Soto injury, right? Yeah, no idea why I didn't remember it's Texas. Lost several points last night due to Popeye Uggla's 2 HR, which can't happen every night.

Also tempted to take 2 Twins pitchers, but I hadda get a Rockie in there.

Catcher Dioner Navarro TOR
First Base Yonder Alonso SD
Second Base Dan Uggla ATL
Third Base Mike Moustakas KC
Shortstop Alcides Escobar KC

Left Field Robbie Grossman HOU

my team: The Whostown Lastros

Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 17 April 2014 02:42 (twelve years ago)

I have zoomed into the top 10 thanks to Star of the Day Mike Pelfrey, but he needs to have a couple mediocre outings or even the Twins will release him by Fathers Day.

Arencibia is at an .071 BA and plunging, but he drove in two runs with ground balls yesterday, so yeah, Texas will probably platoon him all fucking year.

images of war violence and historical smoking (Dr Morbius), Friday, 18 April 2014 14:14 (twelve years ago)

Texas signed him despite his historically bad OBP, so I figured it's unlikely that they'll have that "AHA Arencibia sucks!" moment anytime soon.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Friday, 18 April 2014 20:43 (twelve years ago)

But they didn't expect to be missing G Soto for 3 months....

images of war violence and historical smoking (Dr Morbius), Friday, 18 April 2014 20:47 (twelve years ago)

Alcides Escobar has hit .395/.413/.674 in his last 46 plate appearances.... regression anticipation

images of war violence and historical smoking (Dr Morbius), Monday, 21 April 2014 13:19 (twelve years ago)

My team is in free fall, not sure what I can do other than wait for Moutsakas and Escobar to stop hitting.

images of war violence and historical smoking (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 23 April 2014 14:00 (twelve years ago)

ungood free fall or reverse bad free fall?

9-point gain last night! a record for me and I have Pelfrey going today.

Billy Hamilton

he was a p popular CF pick, after BJ I think

images of war violence and historical smoking (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 7 May 2014 21:34 (twelve years ago)

It's funny to see most of the teams near the top losing points yesterday, since Alcides Escobar and Yonder Alonso had 4 hits and a homer between them.

really kicking myself for not picking Nate Schierholtz

images of war violence and historical smoking (Dr Morbius), Monday, 12 May 2014 14:26 (twelve years ago)

two weeks pass...

Robbie Grossman is back up! Getting hits so far, alas.

Why the fuck did I pick De La Rosa? Did I think he'd be bad or something? He needs to pitch only at Coors.

images of war violence and historical smoking (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 29 May 2014 00:00 (twelve years ago)

At last, De La Rosa got knocked around and my hitters sucked! Up 12 points in a day. (just discovered Reddick was DL'd tho)

images of war violence and historical smoking (Dr Morbius), Monday, 9 June 2014 13:55 (twelve years ago)

do you have all-star shortstop derek jeter

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 10 June 2014 02:42 (twelve years ago)

collected 24 pts on Wednesday (17 from De La Rosa), a personal record. Now tied for 13th; I'd be sitting pretty if I'd only taken Zack Cozart and Jose Molina.

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Friday, 20 June 2014 13:44 (eleven years ago)

three weeks pass...

I'm up to 84th after picking up 102 points in the past month. Morbs' team still looks solid at #29.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 16 July 2014 15:50 (eleven years ago)

yeah, but I'm likely getting absolutely nothing in the second half from Pelfrey, Uggla, Alonso.

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 16 July 2014 15:54 (eleven years ago)

i've dropped all the way into the 600's :(

Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 16 July 2014 19:10 (eleven years ago)

Brutal night, lost 16 points and dropped about 40 places. That's what happens when Navarro and Moustakas both have great nights.

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 23 July 2014 14:55 (eleven years ago)

I picked up another 18 points and moved up to #38. There's still room for improvement -- James Loney is still in negative points!

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 23 July 2014 21:14 (eleven years ago)

I find that the two pitchers' performance is really key. and of course De La Rosa is doing well again today....

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 23 July 2014 21:19 (eleven years ago)

my spiral into oblivion continues as Reddick and Navarro keep hitting.

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 27 July 2014 16:49 (eleven years ago)

I think I'm done -- my team picked up minus 30 points last week, I'm down to 105th place after peaking at around 38th place a couple of weeks ago.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Friday, 8 August 2014 14:46 (eleven years ago)

yeah, you were tied with me a couple days ago, that's a bad sign.

really kicking myself for thinking Jose Molina and Nate Schierholtz wouldn't play enough. And now Yonder Alonso is hitting.

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Friday, 8 August 2014 17:11 (eleven years ago)

My team "rebounded" with 32 points over the past seven days. I'm up to 55th place. Nobody on my team really stood out this week, it was general suckage all around, a true team effort.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 13 August 2014 17:07 (eleven years ago)

It's kind of amazing you have six players with 18 pts or less, and are that high. Carried by Edwin Jackson!

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 13 August 2014 19:05 (eleven years ago)

Wow, Edwin Jackson is really dominating Hacking Mass so far. He has 103 points, with Buccholz twenty points behind.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 26 August 2014 19:19 (eleven years ago)

And I think the Cubs have just pulled Jackson from the rotation! When his ERA was about to hit the Number of the Beast.

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 26 August 2014 20:24 (eleven years ago)

Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 3 September 2014 15:57 (eleven years ago)

goddamn your Edwin Jackson, not being put on the DL til late August :)

BJ Upton homered and drew 2 walks last night, and nearly all the leaders in HM lost points.

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 4 September 2014 17:38 (eleven years ago)

(plus with Dioner Navarro homering, I have dropped to a new low)

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 4 September 2014 17:39 (eleven years ago)

Minus-16 points over the past week. I've dropped to 81st. Oh well, it was a decent run.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 14 September 2014 20:52 (eleven years ago)

There's only one Edwin Jackson!

Jeter would've been a golden pick after all... Closing in on Zack Cozart for "leading" shortstop.

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Monday, 15 September 2014 15:33 (eleven years ago)

Kudos to whoever had Chris Johnson in this league.

Malibu Stasi (WilliamC), Friday, 19 September 2014 19:05 (eleven years ago)

He's only 72nd overall and fourth among third basemen. Andrelton Simmons is 27th (remember, it's essentially OPS factored by plate appearances, for non-pitchers).

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Friday, 19 September 2014 19:16 (eleven years ago)

I've never played it or looked into it, so I didn't know how scoring was figured. It does make sense that Andrelton would be up there — such a horrible year offensively.

Malibu Stasi (WilliamC), Friday, 19 September 2014 19:27 (eleven years ago)

There's actually a pretty good 3-way race for the top spot heading into the last weekend. I hope the current leader is overtaken, cuz he's one of those lucky sods who picked Edwin Jackson.

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Friday, 26 September 2014 14:47 (eleven years ago)

40 percent of the first place team's points are from the two pitchers! Next time somebody argues that Kershaw can't be MVP because he doesn't play every day, we can send a link to that guy's team. IOW, pitchers are so valuable (or not valuable) that they can impact their team more than any one position player.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Friday, 26 September 2014 15:18 (eleven years ago)

Cozart and Dominguez, that's one hell of a left side.

the increasing costive borborygmi (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 14 April 2015 15:42 (eleven years ago)

Entries now closed, right in the middle of my attempt to sub Eric Young for Billy Hamilton.

Out of Options

Catcher Tuffy Gosewisch
First Base James Loney
Second Base Joe Panik
Third Base Luis Valbuena
Shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria
Left Field Ben Revere
Center Field Billy Hamilton
Right Field Nick Markakis
Pitcher 1 Ricky Nolasco
Pitcher 2 Kyle Kendrick

I know Loney is on the DL, but he'll still be near the top of 1Bs, esp with that oblique nagging him.

the increasing costive borborygmi (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 15 April 2015 14:55 (eleven years ago)

Last minute prize announcement -- Tim McCarver's "solo album"! This was released six years ago and I'd never heard of it? Hacking Mass -- THIS TIME IT COUNTS.

I made a few challopsy choices here, and now that Mike Minor has had another setback in his return from the DL I'm pretty much screwed. Oh and Nelson Cruz hit a million home runs since I put this team together.

Catcher Tuffy Gosewisch
First Base Ryan Howard
Second Base Jonathan Schoop
Third Base Chris Johnson
Shortstop Andrelton Simmons
Left Field Nelson Cruz
Center Field Austin Jackson
Right Field Jay Bruce
Pitcher 1 Mike Minor
Pitcher 2 Jerome Williams

the increasing costive borborygmi (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 29 April 2015 17:44 (eleven years ago)

In the past week I've climbed from fifteen or so places from the bottom up to 489th place! Still in negative points though.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 29 April 2015 18:47 (eleven years ago)

I have zoomed into the top 50, bcz Loney, Hamilton and even Valbuena and Markakis are finding their rubber legs in the batter's box. Too bad Tuffy Gosewisch is about to lose his starting job; shoulda gone with Bethancourt, goddammit.

the increasing costive borborygmi (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 12 May 2015 16:26 (eleven years ago)

I'm 10th from the bottom! Nelson Cruz is killing my team.

Even the guy in last place was obviously making serious picks, choosing DJ LeMathieu and Mike Moustakas is easily defensible.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 13 May 2015 13:51 (eleven years ago)

Only one other person picked Cruz, if I understand it correctly. At the start of 2014 no MLB teams wanted him! Last year easily could have been a fluke, and it was really only a couple of great months, in the second half he was terrible IIRC.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 13 May 2015 13:55 (eleven years ago)

The 12 players who have Jeremy Guthrie are inordinately happy today.

Mad Piratical (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 28 August 2018 17:14 (seven years ago)

It's good for the contest... but I have no real chance of winning, bcz most of the leaders have some of the key players I do (eg, Alcides Escobar, Tim Beckham).

What pisses me off is they always close the rosters 2 weeks into the season, and some smartass always picks his roster as the ten players leading at their positions through 10-12 games. The guy who did that this year is still running 2nd! Chris Davis sucked through mid-April, and guess what?
