I was recently at a bar wherein the wine (Sutter Home in airplane bottles) was advertised on every "table tent" for $4.00.
Having purchased two beers along with my cheap-yet-sort of upgraded wine, I didn't notice anything funny about the total amount paid.
When I returned and purchased another glass of swill, I was charged $4.75.
I said: "But, it's advertised as $4.00 a glass on your menu, which is on every table." And the bartender said, "Yeah, I know, we're gonna have to change that."
It sort of ruined my night, and I think the bar had the responsibility to honor the price that was advertised.
Basically, I spent over $5.00, if you include the tip, for Sutter Home! I was grudgingly willing to accept it for $4.00, because I wasn't in the mood to drink beer. But, had I known, I would have been having a gin rickey.
This bar is actually a bar in a bowling alley.We were going to bowl, but first we had a round of drinks.
So, drinking wine at a bowling alley is my fault. BUT - I think the price change-a-roonie should have been handled differently - the price that is advertised should be the price that you pay.

i totally agree. working in customer service, i can confirm: if you advertise something, you better fuckin honor it.

You obviously were not drunk enough to be paying your tab! You are not supposed to be able to notice such trivial things as a 25% price increase.
In a similar vein.....
A nice little bar I used to frequent in Arkansas had great pizza, great beer prices, and slightly high but within reason mixed drink/ shots prices.
I always sat in the same general area and was serviced by the same waitress for several years.
Then came the time I went there and the usual waitress was out sick.....
Suddenly the price of EVERYTHING dropped....
The 1.75 beer was 1.25
The 3.25 shots were 2.50
The 8.75 pizza was 6.75
Of course I was upset..... especially considering that I am a fairly generous tipper on top of the bitch inflating the prices!
When she returned to work I ordered a beer, a shot and a pizza.
When she came to collect "HER" 13.75 (plus tip) I dropped 10.51 on the table and said here's the 10.50 for the drinks and food.... the extra penny is for you and that's all your ever getting again.
As I slowly left, I wandered past each of "her" tables and informed the patrons that EVERYTHING is cheaper if you sit OVER THERE------> instead of over here.
She was furious and ranting at me to get out!
The bartender/mgr/bouncer came out to see what the commotion was all about and was ready to crack my skull with his club until he realized what I was telling him..... his waitress was ripping off customers by setting higher prices to line HER pocket, not his.
She got bitchslapped and fired on the spot.
I got an apology as well as quite a few free drinks and pizzas after that.
I miss that pizza now that I no longer live in Arkansas.

Serviced?........
She was a server, she provided food/drink service, and it happened in the past.... serviced. Had provided OTHER services then maybe the inflated prices would have been deemed acceptable.

It WAS in Arkansas.... you know that the whole "REDNECK" thing actually is based on reality, right? Besides, I think they had a history...Brother/sister...husband/wife....both.... not saying it was proper, just stating what occured.
