that looks so comfy

Ravaging Rick Rude (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 00:43 (twelve years ago) link

(i am in the process of throwing out most of my wardrobe, so i feel i may have more to contribute come october when i start again)

Ravaging Rick Rude (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 00:44 (twelve years ago) link

I want every single one of these coats:

http://shop.emersonmade.com/Coats-Jackets

your mom the burrito (ENBB), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 00:44 (twelve years ago) link

But especially the olive wool day coat and the london coat.

your mom the burrito (ENBB), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 00:45 (twelve years ago) link

yeah i like those coats too

SOMEGHOSTDURRP (Lamp), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 01:14 (twelve years ago) link

i love marled sweaters

elmo argonaut, Wednesday, 14 September 2011 01:16 (twelve years ago) link

starting to think about a double breasted suit

caek, Wednesday, 14 September 2011 01:21 (twelve years ago) link

lamp you seem pretty clued in, are duffel coats too 2009

caek, Wednesday, 14 September 2011 01:23 (twelve years ago) link

http://ny-image2.etsy.com/il_570xN.235818478.jpg

some things i want for fall:

- grandpa sweater w/ a shawl collar and those loop/tog style fasteners (lttp i know)
- so much stuff from the apc f/w line but the sweater above, the fake vintage sweatshirt and the slim straight leg wool pants in particular
- a pair of dark brown suede derbys
- a couple of pairs of slim wool trousers one in a dark brown the other in a subtle check of some kind
- brightly patterned socks
- the SIBLING knit sweater with the kiss panadas (also kinda the drunken knights cardigan/vest combo)
- more tailored white dress shirts from filippa k
- another pair of black oxfords ideally the rachel comey palmers

SOMEGHOSTDURRP (Lamp), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 01:31 (twelve years ago) link

lamp tell me something about corduroy shirts
in like burgundy or grey

whether rock (los blue jeans), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 01:34 (twelve years ago) link

i think duffel coats are still p current looking, daria or elmo might recall better but i think in particular those loop/tog fasteners (what is the name for this) are still a really current detail so

i mean i know the coat has a slightly different connotation in england (its a p indie look iirc?) than it does here but i like them

SOMEGHOSTDURRP (Lamp), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 01:34 (twelve years ago) link

this in grey: http://shop.uniqlo.com/uk/goods/069857#colorSelect
suede desert boots in a saucy colour, e.g. brandy (leaning this way) or dark blue
couple of plain flannel button down shirts in beige or white
plain corduroy shirt in like dark green or dark red

shawl collars have become a bit scally in the uk : (

caek, Wednesday, 14 September 2011 01:39 (twelve years ago) link

yeah duffel coats are either indie or lol oxford. i feel like i could pull it off now i am not in the uk though.

caek, Wednesday, 14 September 2011 01:40 (twelve years ago) link

i have no opinions on corduroy shirts other than that i have this is mb a h1pster trend here atm

also i do think like gitman bros. style 'coarse' shirts in heavy fabrics will be big

yeah shawl collars are kinda off trend or w/e i wanted one of those sweaters last year but didnt bite the bullet

tbrr i just totally vibe the whole norwegian fisherman thing thats reaching its apex this year idk

SOMEGHOSTDURRP (Lamp), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 01:42 (twelve years ago) link

i am finding it hard to find plain (i.e. non-lumberjack) flannel shirts in sensible modern cuts

caek, Wednesday, 14 September 2011 01:45 (twelve years ago) link

also i want a raw silk/linen tie for not €€€

caek, Wednesday, 14 September 2011 01:47 (twelve years ago) link

i guess this is a prince of wales check? anyway this is good ex. of the pant i was talking abt

SOMEGHOSTDURRP (Lamp), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 04:38 (twelve years ago) link

i have no idea who that post was directed at either btw

SOMEGHOSTDURRP (Lamp), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 04:38 (twelve years ago) link

i love apc so much. thinking about getting a crewneck pullover but i want it in bright pink. also thinking about a knit sweater jacket from there. or really splurging on their red hooded coat. RED. <3

i have some acne pistol boots on preorder. shouldn't spend the money .. gonna sell a pair or two i don't wear to not feel as bad, i guess.

don't care much about trends but i do like the trend of bright colored trousers and i'd like a pair in red if i could find any i liked. the only pairs i've seen are j brand and rag & bone in the skinny-skinny cut and i don't want that

that's really all i need. got a couple of simple knee length skirts from theory.. and i would really like a nicer fitted blazer in cream or taupe from isabel marant or vanessa bruno, i just can't find the perfect one (and shouldn't spend that kind of money tbh)

daria-g, Thursday, 15 September 2011 03:03 (twelve years ago) link

oh hell i also maybe should get an apc 'fashion is for losers' t-shirt and their 20's top in RED, i have one in navy already & it goes with everything

daria-g, Thursday, 15 September 2011 03:06 (twelve years ago) link

I would love a pair of red trousers! I've been on the lookout for forever, but have not come across a pair that would work for me.

I threw away my 10+ years old winter coat last year (black wool peacoat, had replaced lining 2+ times, didn't cost much to begin with). I'd like an awesome camel coat and am willing to drop some cash on it if it would give me a decade of wear. Suggestions appreciated! Must be go0d for both casual and over-work-clothes wear (pantsuits, mostly) and look good on a tall laydee.

quincie, Thursday, 15 September 2011 03:25 (twelve years ago) link

Also there was a Jason Wu dress in the print WaPo today that I <3

quincie, Thursday, 15 September 2011 03:26 (twelve years ago) link

if you want to spend $$$ then i guess max mara is the obv choice

Lamp, Thursday, 15 September 2011 03:30 (twelve years ago) link

Fav time for fashions btw

D-40, Thursday, 15 September 2011 03:38 (twelve years ago) link

garance dore got a camel coat from max mara and she knows what's up. i'll keep an eye out, i usually don't pay attention because i look like death in that color

daria-g, Thursday, 15 September 2011 03:52 (twelve years ago) link

haha me too - i totally ignore everything camel coloured in fashion! charcoal all the way. white in my dreams, the ones where nothing ever spills and bikes don't need grease.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Thursday, 15 September 2011 05:00 (twelve years ago) link

Camel may not be the most flattering of shades on me, but I am sick to death of black coats. Charcoal would be an option, but I am really trying to expand my coat horizons. A nice cherry red would be cool.

quincie, Thursday, 15 September 2011 14:12 (twelve years ago) link

UKers: depending on the item, I'm a 6, 8, or 10 in US women's sizes. What UK size for a coat that supposedly runs true to size? UK 12???

quincie, Thursday, 15 September 2011 14:35 (twelve years ago) link

10 or 12 i think but E would know better if she's reading

caek, Thursday, 15 September 2011 14:45 (twelve years ago) link

Oh man Quincie that's hard. Which of those do you think you'd most likely wear in a coat? You'd maybe want to size up to accommodate sweaters?

In general US - UK is two sizes so

6 - 8 UK
8 - 10 UK
10 - 12 UK

Some websites say to size up 2 sizes but I've never felt that's the case. I'm a US 12 and a UK 14 pretty consistently.

I would maybe order a 10 but make sure it's something you can exchange if the size isn't right?

Sorry - that wasn't very helpful.

hi c!

your mom the burrito (ENBB), Thursday, 15 September 2011 15:52 (twelve years ago) link

or M, rather since calling you C when I actually know what your name begins with seems weird

your mom the burrito (ENBB), Thursday, 15 September 2011 15:54 (twelve years ago) link

man i would buy a new winter coat every year if i could afford it i love buying coats, jackets, sweaters

Lamp, Thursday, 15 September 2011 15:59 (twelve years ago) link

otm.

i got a great vintage pea coat last year. it is like 1/2" too small though which the fit a bit more "fashion" than i would like, and the shoulders end up being a little bit dramatic.

caek, Thursday, 15 September 2011 16:04 (twelve years ago) link

I've been wearing the same navy pea coat for a couple years and I'm not tired of it yet but wow I REALLY do want that APC coat in red, I tried it on and the fit is perfect.

daria-g, Thursday, 15 September 2011 16:41 (twelve years ago) link

Hmmmm I think I'm gonna go for the UK12. With a coat it seems better to err on the side of too big than too small!

quincie, Thursday, 15 September 2011 16:44 (twelve years ago) link

haha daria imo the f/w apc stuff is some of their nicest in years just the palette and the details... they have an 'english mack' that i covet but i just got a new coat last winter

Lamp, Thursday, 15 September 2011 16:47 (twelve years ago) link

Octavia Butler's gonna be piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiised (Laurel), Thursday, 15 September 2011 16:50 (twelve years ago) link

The camel Max Mara is not for me.

Octavia Butler's gonna be piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiised (Laurel), Thursday, 15 September 2011 16:51 (twelve years ago) link

I know Laurel aren't they the most beautiful coats you've ever seen. I keep looking at them . . .

your mom the burrito (ENBB), Thursday, 15 September 2011 16:51 (twelve years ago) link

I mean all of the nice coats I've had over the years have probably originally been around those prices but I've never actually paid full price for them. I always wait until they're marked down. I doubt these will get marked down any time soon though.

your mom the burrito (ENBB), Thursday, 15 September 2011 16:53 (twelve years ago) link

Their camel suit-coat is literally stabbing me in the heart with its coolness.

Octavia Butler's gonna be piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiised (Laurel), Thursday, 15 September 2011 16:59 (twelve years ago) link

The lining!

homosexual II, Thursday, 15 September 2011 17:09 (twelve years ago) link

Beautiful color!

quincie, Thursday, 15 September 2011 17:10 (twelve years ago) link

Nice!!

Octavia Butler's gonna be piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiised (Laurel), Thursday, 15 September 2011 17:18 (twelve years ago) link

I always wonder what to do with those plain-necked coats. They look bad on me without something in the neckline like a scarf, but then I always have to have a matching scarf on hand and sometimes it's too warm for that, and then things have become too complicated so I don't buy them anymore.

Octavia Butler's gonna be piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiised (Laurel), Thursday, 15 September 2011 17:18 (twelve years ago) link

I envy them on other people, though.

Octavia Butler's gonna be piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiised (Laurel), Thursday, 15 September 2011 17:19 (twelve years ago) link

Same! I love that coat but in addition to the neck thing I'd worry that it would be too shapeless. It could be one of things that looks amazing on though. I LOVE the color.

your mom the burrito (ENBB), Thursday, 15 September 2011 17:20 (twelve years ago) link

I'm the same way, too! I always go for big-ass collars.

quincie, Thursday, 15 September 2011 17:21 (twelve years ago) link

I go for stand-up collars, turned up ones or Mao jacket ones, something with a vertical element.

Octavia Butler's gonna be piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiised (Laurel), Thursday, 15 September 2011 17:23 (twelve years ago) link

My body is pretty shapeless, so it all works out well

homosexual II, Thursday, 15 September 2011 17:25 (twelve years ago) link

lamp i really dig that reindeer sweater!

i have this charcoal wool coat with horn toggles, v excited to break that out again this year

elmo argonaut, Thursday, 15 September 2011 20:35 (twelve years ago) link

i am loving the hill-side f/w stuff, especially the large rose prints, can't really justify it the buy but will probably snap one up anyway

elmo argonaut, Thursday, 15 September 2011 20:41 (twelve years ago) link

uniqlo have a maroon corduroy shirt in their f/w iirc

is it shakeymostep? (cozen), Thursday, 15 September 2011 20:43 (twelve years ago) link

i am feeling kinda dad-fashion this fall tbh, have been into denim shirts & harrington jackets

elmo argonaut, Thursday, 15 September 2011 20:45 (twelve years ago) link

oh it's 'wine'
xp

is it shakeymostep? (cozen), Thursday, 15 September 2011 20:46 (twelve years ago) link

haha yeah apparently ~maroon~ is having a comeback for fall

i haven't gotten into corduroy shirts or chamois shirts but i think they can look ok if you size up and wear em as a light jacket

http://www.selectism.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/beams-socks-1.jpg

love these, i can't seem to find where to buy online but i figure hey you can just ask your nana to knit you some socks with variegated yarn, right?

elmo argonaut, Thursday, 15 September 2011 20:54 (twelve years ago) link

I thought that shade of maroon that's in was being called "boozy"

ha ha ha ha jack my swag (boxedjoy), Thursday, 15 September 2011 20:54 (twelve years ago) link

"jawn burgundy" iirc

elmo argonaut, Thursday, 15 September 2011 20:56 (twelve years ago) link

http://shop.uniqlo.com/uk/goods/069596#colorSelect

yeah i saw the uniqlo ones. the colour of the wine one is a little too smoking jacket for my tastes, and i am not so keen on the wacky checked lining (i am a cuff roller)

caek, Thursday, 15 September 2011 21:04 (twelve years ago) link

also feelin rugby shirts or even this retro football sweater thing

these have been in heavy rotation since i have started transitioning to fall

they are actually my boyfriend's but we share a shoe size, it kinda rules

elmo argonaut, Friday, 16 September 2011 00:32 (twelve years ago) link

w/ rawhide laced, tho

elmo argonaut, Friday, 16 September 2011 00:35 (twelve years ago) link

anyway since ties are kinda my thing i have to say i am going heavy on rough vintage wool & brushed flannel ties, lots of plaids, ancient madder paisleys are definitely seasonal for fall but i kinda hate them

elmo argonaut, Friday, 16 September 2011 00:43 (twelve years ago) link

oh and embroidered wildlife / hunting patterns! like the dude in the tweed is wearing. also like this one of mine:

so after i posted about rugby shirts i stopped by the thrift on the way home and found a solid green one that fits pretty well! i think it'll look good under the navy puffer vest i found a couple weeks ago

elmo argonaut, Friday, 16 September 2011 01:16 (twelve years ago) link

i like rugby shirts. isabel marant did some women's rugby inspired styles last season that i really liked but couldn't justify spending that much on a casual weekend piece. might get one eventually since they show up a lot on ebay, i don't think they were super popular

quincie that coat is top class imo

jaxon, Friday, 16 September 2011 06:28 (twelve years ago) link

speaking for myself here, but there is a weird tension that can occur between wanting to sleep with someone and wanting to look or dress like them. if you have compatible style & size with your partner it can be an added bonus but... it's not a good reason to get involved with anybody.

i have been avoiding visiting clothing websites and then yesterday elmo linked to norse projects and i spent like half an hour trying to think of how i could reallocate my money just to get one sweater or something

max, Friday, 16 September 2011 14:01 (twelve years ago) link

actually though i am pretty set for fall, maybe *too* set, i have like 5 different jackets/sweatshirts, a million sweaters, thick shirts etc

I ordered that Weekend by Max Mara (secondary line, still $$$ but not ridiculous for something I will wear every day, every winter, for at least a decade)! It is shipping from the UK from a place called matches that looks like my kinda store. Crossing my fingers that the UK 12 was a good call. Anyhow, thanking u ilx for recommending max mara and thus drastically streamlining my search for a camel coat.

(Note: the coat is 49% wool, 33% alpaca, 12% nylon, 6% angora. Should be very warm with the alpaca in there!)

yay q! hope it works out! i bet the UK 12 is right? i would have the same issue with uk size (10 or 12) and i usually err on the side of sizing up because if the shoulders don't fit, it's no good

also can i just make a comment: people are crazy. missoni for target? i know some of the crazy is just hype and marketing strategery but people! the stuff is still target quality and imo hideous! if you are going to troll ebay to buy missoni at a couple hundred a pop, dang, buy the real thing

Quincie: UK sizes are US+4 so US 6 = UK 10; US 8 = UK 12, etc
But my feeling is the actual fit depends on the store and usually on their range of sizes (so if the smallest they have is a size 2, that's likely to be similar to a size 4 in another shop where that's the smallest they run to).

With coats it's really hard anyway because I find sizing is often all over the place and depends on how thick it is, the cut, etc. 12 is probably fine!

kinder, Friday, 16 September 2011 18:03 (twelve years ago) link

UK sizes are US+4 so US 6 = UK 10; US 8 = UK 12

It's so weird because some websites state what you said and others say it's +2 which is what I said yesterday. So inconsistent. US 6 = 8, US 8 = 10 and so on. I've definitely found that +2 to be closer most often. Nearly everything would be way too big if I went by the +4 thing.

your mom the burrito (ENBB), Friday, 16 September 2011 18:08 (twelve years ago) link

For instance these two both do the +2

http://www.onlineconversion.com/clothing_womens.htm

http://www.asknumbers.com/ClothingWomensConversion.aspx

Whereas this one does the +4

http://www.fashion-411.com/Size_Conversions.htm

I guess though is we can't have standardized sizing across the industry within the country it would be ridic to expect international conversions to be consistent.

your mom the burrito (ENBB), Friday, 16 September 2011 18:12 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah I checked here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clothing_size#Women
and 'dresses and suits' and 'women's clothes' are different! It's so dumb. Same as Quincie, I have managed to narrow my 'size' down to about 3 :-)

Hm, maybe that is why I've been finding clothes here generally too big, although I usually just look for the smallest size and that's often too big (and I'm not exactly a skinny waif) - I guess a lot of stuff is designed to be drapy or loose right now.

kinder, Friday, 16 September 2011 18:17 (twelve years ago) link

Thinking about it I probably learned the +4 thing solely from H&M labels...

kinder, Friday, 16 September 2011 18:19 (twelve years ago) link

how convenient that so many clothes are drapy and loose -- this means they don't have to actually "fit" and more people will buy them.

rag & bone trousers are nice, i got a pair of chinos there on major major sale (like they cost less than gap sale) and love them. i dunno about some of their other women's stuff though, it's not quite right to me. overdesigned or something

j crew kills me because they do very nice work with styling and yet the quality of their women's clothes is just trash lately. sure i want those cropped trousers in red or fuchsia but the fabric is so cheap they don't even look right on the size 0 model who has to stand in an awkward pose so you don't notice as much

would totally buy those crewneck sweaters if they made a women's version though. nice

elmo argonaut, Friday, 16 September 2011 20:24 (twelve years ago) link

fair isle: ebay or etsy? like if you search several terms and variations on the spelling of it & search for just things like sweater + wool + scotland. if i were in new england i'd go to church thrift shops and look..

for that kind of thing i'd probably try to get vintage if possible because you can actually find a decent quality piece, whereas if you buy new it'd have to cost a couple hundred before you get out of the range of cheap/throwaway clothes

daria-g, Friday, 16 September 2011 20:30 (twelve years ago) link

the only thing is i've noticed about looking for fair isle / nordic / figural sweaters on eBay is that it's totally corrupted by this phenomenon of "ugly christmas sweater parties"

elmo argonaut, Friday, 16 September 2011 20:33 (twelve years ago) link

i ordered one of j crews 'ludlow' jackets this summer for a wedding and was kind of shocked at how poor quality it was for $400. returned and got a slightly less well made but much better fitting jacket from uniqlo for $100

i also have a longsleeve henley from them and the buttons broke w/in like 4 weeks

on the other hand ive had a few j crew tees for like 8 years now and they still look/feel/fit great

we can use ~repurposed deadstock materials~ and have ~hand crafted quality~

we can make ~a million blog dollars~

i use my pocket for a lil notebook sometimes

but cmon its the fall fashion thread why are we talking about practicality

i suppose the practical purpose of the pocket tee is to add a lil bit of flair w/out having to put a huge skull tattoo print on the ass part

max, Wednesday, 28 September 2011 23:41 (twelve years ago) link

fashion sucks imo

señorita buttstench (Lamp), Wednesday, 28 September 2011 23:44 (twelve years ago) link

pocket tees are great at covering up one giant nipple
you can use your messenger bag strap to shield the other one

Art Arfons (La Lechera), Thursday, 29 September 2011 00:02 (twelve years ago) link

otherwise why have a pocket on the front of your tshirt is all i'm saying

Art Arfons (La Lechera), Thursday, 29 September 2011 00:02 (twelve years ago) link

tbrr i think man-boobs tend to prohibit the use and appreciation of tee pockets ;_;

i mean my manboobs are relatively small and pert but still there they are :\

^^ i collect these so it's not so much a fall staple as a year-round staple for me but i wanted to post my swag (not that kind of swag)

is there an "ebay / secondhand swag" thread on i love style? sort of a bragging thread for cheap scores?

admittedly i am not in love with the persistent no-break / 2 in. cuff trend that is STILL going on but otherwise the lookbook is major fall fashion boners, for me anyway

elmo argonaut, Friday, 30 September 2011 19:52 (twelve years ago) link

yeah roll the cuff down and that outfit is A+

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Friday, 30 September 2011 19:54 (twelve years ago) link

all fair isle everything

elmo argonaut, Thursday, 6 October 2011 14:16 (twelve years ago) link

<3 those but what would you ever wear them with

corey, Thursday, 6 October 2011 14:21 (twelve years ago) link

NOOOOOOOOOOOO

shetland is better

funk master friendly (moonship journey to baja), Thursday, 6 October 2011 14:52 (twelve years ago) link

you would wear them with straight leg pants so that they peek out

i think they would look good with like, olive green officer pants, a white shirt and a grey cable-knit cardigan. or like, very dark jeans and a big fuzzy sweater.

funk master friendly (moonship journey to baja), Thursday, 6 October 2011 14:53 (twelve years ago) link

like fair isle can be very nice, but i think plain shetland will look better longer and doesn't scream *trend*

anyway that's my plan for the season, on the lookout for something like this that is lasting quality but is not egregious expensive (under $250?). i think i could go land's end or ll bean for under $100 but i'm not convinced that stuffs not made in sweatshops. would be great to find a vintage piece but wool doesn't do so good in california.

funk master friendly (moonship journey to baja), Thursday, 6 October 2011 14:58 (twelve years ago) link

oops that's the hurling sweater not the shetland, but there's a shetland crewneck in the mix too

this might actually be my best option, though it is more than i can really spend right now: http://jpressonline.com/sweaters_shaggy_dog_detail.php?id=PLAINM727NAV

The 2-in cuff is so jodhpur like, I dislike.

Octavia Butler's gonna be piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiised (Laurel), Thursday, 6 October 2011 15:48 (twelve years ago) link

unrelated but i am concerned about the cuffs on that shaggy dogg sweater

is it okay to have cuffs on a sweater? is it cool? is it ugly? i ask because all of mine don't and i think all of my mom's do.

funk master friendly (moonship journey to baja), Thursday, 6 October 2011 16:32 (twelve years ago) link

All my sweaters have cuffs because my arms are short and I push my sleeves up. Not sure what the official line is, but I think cuffs are a sign of quality b/c they show that slightly more material was used than absolutely bare-minimum necessary.

Octavia Butler's gonna be piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiised (Laurel), Thursday, 6 October 2011 16:34 (twelve years ago) link

i have a gigantic head so i cannot wear most hats, i usually go for a chunky knit hat when absolutely needed but usually i go hatless and suffer

elmo argonaut, Thursday, 6 October 2011 16:34 (twelve years ago) link

aha that makes sense laurel. i should have known j crew was too cheap to make these sleeves longer.

funk master friendly (moonship journey to baja), Thursday, 6 October 2011 16:36 (twelve years ago) link

the ribbed cuff is nice i think

elmo argonaut, Thursday, 6 October 2011 16:36 (twelve years ago) link

but that's not usually folded-back is it? i meant a folded cuff, like a pant cuff.

funk master friendly (moonship journey to baja), Thursday, 6 October 2011 16:36 (twelve years ago) link

i think that really depends on the length of your arm and whether you like to show yr shirt cuffs. as long as the sleeve is relatively trim it should look fine if you fold it back.

elmo argonaut, Thursday, 6 October 2011 16:43 (twelve years ago) link

can't believe i never post here as i am totally obsessed with clothes, it's probably due to my catholic reticience to talk freely about fashion, though it's subsided mostly in recent times, so here i am.

what i want:
orange scarf
a pair of brogues i want to wear every day (have a pair of saddle shoes and a sort of pointyish brogue but i feel i want a more casual pair)
maybe a cap of some kind...i love tweed caps but it's a bit "irishman" and lots of twats wear them. they would totally suit my golf detective fashion tho.
brown leather gloves
a suit...gonna go second hand, i find blazers all the time but always hard to get a suit that fits well, despite some lovely stuff being around.

i like the below jumper a lot too.

i bought a lovely dark brown vintage fur collar yesterday and i love it

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Sunday, 9 October 2011 16:24 (twelve years ago) link

despite my ethics and love of animals and opposition to slaughter for fashion purposes :( i just really love leather and really want a fur vest - i feel like it's a hypocritical thing of me to want, but i truly do respect clothes made out of animals more than i do synthetics (which is a whole other kettle of fish re: industry, craftmanship, etc) - at least they're items that last forever, can be repaired and well-loved. also my feet and synthetic fabric do not get along in any way, ouch ouch ouch.
also fur is so amazingly warm!! montreal was meant for wearing fur, not even kidding. i am torn...

Is the cut of those orange pants the way things are going to go this fall? Because come on, that is really weird looking with the low crotch and the very tapered legs.

carrot cut is terrible. makes you look like you have a fat arse or nappy.

jed_, Thursday, 13 October 2011 02:35 (twelve years ago) link

but i dig the bold colours thing. i can't really wear browns, beiges, mossy colours etc, it's not for me but i think it can look great on others.

jed_, Thursday, 13 October 2011 02:37 (twelve years ago) link

carrot cut is a little weird but if done right it can be really nice. i got those off asos and on arrival they're a little bit too drop crotch for my liking, though i'm still happy enough. but i have another pair of carrot cut that are a bit less baggy and tighter and they sit really nicely. i like the sort of "plus fours" feeling of them...think they're nicer with the cuffs rolled up a bit tho and some decent socks (enhances the sort of humorous british vibe) they look insane if you wear them full length imo, the narrowing at the bottom is so diff from the baggy ass. if rolled up a bit they kinda sit nicely.

When a German communicates, you listen (LocalGarda), Thursday, 13 October 2011 22:12 (twelve years ago) link
