What is trendy right now that you hate?

Cold shoulder tops.

There's more Italy than necessary. (in orbit), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 21:04 (five years ago) link

yes! i have started a project of buying tops that are otherwise cute, save for the cold shoulder, and then "warming" them, by adding fabric to the shoulder where there was none.

sarahell, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 21:07 (five years ago) link

my current one -- things with bows or ties or weird fussy things on the wrists

sarahell, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 21:08 (five years ago) link

I hate "cold shoulder" tops way more than is appropriate for having feelings about someone else's choices that don't affect me at all.

Also, I should have put this in the original post, but this thread is for people who wear women's fashion to complain about their pet peeves and not for cis-male, male presenting, hetero dudes to talk about what kills their boners or whatever

i can kinda get if the top is short sleeved or a lightweight fabric you would wear in the summer -- but a thick knit sweater -- why? why? why?

sarahell, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 21:11 (five years ago) link

like opposite sensations -- say, sweet and sour -- work with food. But I don't want my clothing to make me warm & cold at the same time

sarahell, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 21:13 (five years ago) link

Why are the colors so ugly again this season?

tokyo rosemary, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 21:13 (five years ago) link

It keeps me from buying clothes, so I guess that's good.

tokyo rosemary, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 21:13 (five years ago) link

yeah, what's the color this year, coral or something -- it's something that i saw and was like, you know i don't actually have rosacea, but this color will make me look like i do, or that i have some skin problem, and if i wore it, i'd have to do some major tone correction + foundation + idk what but no, i think i will save money and not buy

sarahell, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 21:16 (five years ago) link

Mmmm, lichen green, burnt orange, mustard, navy.

I have such an irrational hatred of them!

tokyo rosemary, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 21:16 (five years ago) link

it's sad that it makes navy seem super great ... and it's like, the unsalted mashed potatoes of colors imo

sarahell, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 21:17 (five years ago) link

Ha!

tokyo rosemary, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 21:20 (five years ago) link

Oh I love that coral/pink/blush color, I'm definitely the target audience for that plus burnt orange and mustard and teal.

There's more Italy than necessary. (in orbit), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 21:20 (five years ago) link

i've seen things with those colors in stripes or patterns that i think are cute, but they would look bad on me --- except for teal, well, as long as it isn't too bright

sarahell, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 21:22 (five years ago) link

It just clashes so bad with all my color choices/preferences.

tokyo rosemary, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 21:25 (five years ago) link

it also seems there are a lot of styles rn that look really dumb on ppl who aren't tall

sarahell, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 21:27 (five years ago) link

If I could pick one color to wipe off the face of the earth it would be coral.

Right column Leftist (sunny successor), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 21:30 (five years ago) link

I have to admit I am totally not aware of what fashion is doing rn. I have an Ann Taylor Loft credit card and my last online order was from Buykud, which is some Chinese or Singaporean company where the aesthetic is basically like neutral spectrum art director urchin.

Orange makes me vomit. Apparently in colour psych it signifies being social. Checks out. Lol

nathom, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 21:37 (five years ago) link

My boss told me my style is English. I was so "wuht?" I didn't know what to say. Just smiled. Wtf is English style? Omg I hope she doesn't imply I'm Essex style. Eek.

nathom, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 21:54 (five years ago) link

There seems to be a lot of neon or bright stuff around - really doesn’t suit me.

Various 90s trends that I remember but was too young for the first time and I don’t want to do now.

Velour.

xpost lol!!

Right column Leftist (sunny successor), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 22:37 (five years ago) link

i didn't know that was called cold-shoulder tops and it was a thing! My friend gets this great extra employee discount at one affiliate store a couple times a year and he always asks if I want anything. The last time I looked online everything was either a jumpsuit or this cold shoulder top and I was like, WTF. They are HORRIBLE.

I like that color palate listed above. I wish I could wear more warm colors. I actually love all shades of green, yellow and orange too. I hate purple so I dunno.

Yerac, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 22:49 (five years ago) link

split knee jeans in the middle of winter. Just seems stupidly impractical. Does it even look that good to anybody?
Quite innovative when the Ramones did it 44 years ago & Iggy more extremely before them.
Always wonder who repopularised it, & always associate it with the Ramones, so did somebody do a photoshoot in homage to them or something? & now it seems to have been around in this town at least for the last few years so you would think it was old hat by now.
Or is it now a constant?

Stevolende, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 22:52 (five years ago) link

I hate sheer anything and shirts and one piece bathing suits that are way too short in the torso. I'm not even tall so I have no clue how tall women deal with this.

Yerac, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 22:53 (five years ago) link

Oh, the short torso thing isn't really a trend (just life). Whoops.

I also hate t shirts that have "mommy wine o'clock" types of sayings on them.

Yerac, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 22:55 (five years ago) link

oh god the alkie mom brigade are such a bore.

Right column Leftist (sunny successor), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 22:59 (five years ago) link

This trend of clothes just shrinking in the closet ever since Trump got elected also sucks.

Yerac, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 23:06 (five years ago) link

Wait I’m still really confused about “buffalo boots”. Do you mean biker boots? I just got a pair with big buckles and I LOVE them but I used to wear “giant shitkickers” back in the day so they feel right to me.

I love cold shoulder tops because I love my shoulders and they’re about the only things I feel comfortable exposing but I only like plain black ones. Anything with a print and cut out seems too complicated.

Love the colors and the pic L posted.

I’ve been trying to be more daring with clothes and wear what I like even if I don’t think I can pull it off or if it’s not my usual style. I recently bought a jumpsuit which I NEVER thought I’d do but it looks so cute! Mind you I haven’t actually worn it yet.

Hate sheer things.

buying new clothes isn't really my jam though so i am waiting for the weird puffy sleeved pea green sweaters to arrive in the thrifts

shoes with chunky heels are pretty ugly.and remind me of my grandma but i would never buy them regardless so /shrug

These are buffalo boots. It's funny: I expect everyone (older than 35) to know what these are. Haha. I can picture Thom to roll his eyes now. If I know it, I think everyone else does too. Cause I mean who doesn't know the Spice Girls?

nathom, Thursday, 31 January 2019 08:22 (five years ago) link

oh speaking of 90s trends -- I'm seeing crepe pants now, and I remember buying/wearing these in the 90s, and they would end up shrinking awkwardly in the wash and also developing holes ... part of me wants to save younger women through my lol-experience, but, i feel like, we all need to have these experiences personally in order to really learn

sarahell, Thursday, 31 January 2019 16:57 (five years ago) link

Oh, the short torso thing isn't really a trend

idk there are a bunch of crop tops/sweaters floating around ... and I actually do have a short torso, and I generally don't like them because they end at my waist, and i like being tucked in at the waist, and also, I do things like a normal person does, like stretch, grab things off higher shelves ... though i will wear a crop sweater or cardigan over a shirt that tucks in or a dress, and feel cute.

sarahell, Thursday, 31 January 2019 17:16 (five years ago) link

i'm very short so i love a crop top/sweater

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Thursday, 31 January 2019 17:19 (five years ago) link

although like sarahell i usually wear a tank top/something underneath to prevent any eyes from reaching my torso flesh/prevent anyone's eyes from burning on account of having laid themselves upon my torso flesh/protect myself from people looking at my torso flesh tbh

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Thursday, 31 January 2019 17:21 (five years ago) link

but do they hit you at the natural waist, or above, or is it just that the non-crop versions are too long and make you feel like a child playing dress up? (i feel that way about wide leg pants btw)

sarahell, Thursday, 31 January 2019 17:22 (five years ago) link

xp - lol yes ... my torso flesh is a thing needing protection! like, i am less protective of my boobs than my torso flesh

sarahell, Thursday, 31 January 2019 17:23 (five years ago) link

sometimes in the summer at a bbq or something i might let it out but only special occasions

usually the ones i like hit at natural waist; the ones that are like a bra + 2 inches are too short for me -- i have never been able to comfortably flaunt my torso like a fly girl :( that look is cute, just not for me.

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Thursday, 31 January 2019 17:25 (five years ago) link

that look is cute, just not for me.

same. I have a friend that totally rocks it, but they are like 28 and on T and transitioning

sarahell, Thursday, 31 January 2019 17:48 (five years ago) link

I mean I'm not into the dadcore puffy white sneaker shoes thing but that's not just for women, that's everywhere in hi-fashion right now I think? Not sure who is actually wearing them irl, but since I never make it into Manhattan or anywhere anymore, maybe I'm just not seeing it.

I only know what jr high kids are wearing and that's like 80% stretch leggings as pants with everything.

There's more Italy than necessary. (in orbit), Thursday, 31 January 2019 18:23 (five years ago) link

Leggings have surpassed jeans in popularity. Very weird. Jeans aren't a "staple" anymore. Even I wear non-jeans pants now. Lol

nathom, Thursday, 31 January 2019 18:25 (five years ago) link

Tbf jeans are not that comfortable for me and never were--unless they're super baggy they definitely inhibit movement and ability to sit comfortably. My ultimate goal is to wear nothing with a waistband ever again.

There's more Italy than necessary. (in orbit), Thursday, 31 January 2019 18:33 (five years ago) link

I used to be very vocal about being able to wear jeans on friday as a corporate reward WAS NOT A REAL REWARD.

Yerac, Thursday, 31 January 2019 18:35 (five years ago) link

Last fall I was at a place where the "charitable giving jeans summer fridays" had just ended and people in my department so questioned whether they could still wear jeans that calls to HR were placed, opining about whether they could get it in writing, going to the department head to confirm, texting the morning of the non-jeans friday to find out what people were wearing, an emergency stop to Anne Taylor to get regular trousers, more texts. It was insanity and completely compelling.

Yerac, Thursday, 31 January 2019 18:39 (five years ago) link

Most of my jeans have some sort of stretch content in them, so they are more comfortable than traditional jeans, except for the pair of Lane Bryant bootcuts that I've had for like 10 years, but the comfort factor there is def due to how long i've had them ... but for "comfort" i don't wear jeans, but leggings or tights with a kneelength or midcalf housedress. Baggy sweaterdresses are also a thing i like.

sarahell, Thursday, 31 January 2019 18:59 (five years ago) link

I love oversized. But re pants: def jeans person. Esp boyfriend ones. Leggings? I only very rarely wear'em with something oversized. Don't like to flash my bum. Lol.

nathom, Thursday, 31 January 2019 19:44 (five years ago) link

oh, i wear leggings as "cold weather tights" - so always with something over them - agree re bum

sarahell, Friday, 1 February 2019 17:40 (five years ago) link

same
although i do have a pair of high waisted jeggings that i wear just like normal jeans and if someone recoils from the sight of my body in this garment that's their eyes getting burnt, not mine

i still laugh when i think about the word jeggings.

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Friday, 1 February 2019 19:17 (five years ago) link

i laugh at it too! ... omg that reminds me of this time, I had an interview with a new client and i wore a pair of not at all high waisted jeggings because they were at the top of the stack of pants-like-clothing and I had a massive hangover from the night before ... and it was very very awkward ... and those jeggings have summarily been retired and are currently being used as a source of fabric to sew into the gaps of cold shoulder sweaters and knit tops

three months pass...

Why are women's suits so uniformly terrible?

Yerac, Friday, 17 May 2019 22:50 (four years ago) link

are you talking all suits or ones w/pants or ...?

sarahell, Saturday, 18 May 2019 17:07 (four years ago) link

Both with skirt and trousers. I saw a super nice menswear styled suit on someone yesterday and it looked so great. Every single time I have had to look at suits it's impossible to find one where they don't try to embellish it with a weird zipper, sleeve, pocket, peplum or fabric.

Yerac, Saturday, 18 May 2019 17:31 (four years ago) link

ha weird sleeves are a "thing" ... i do like peplums tho. ... on a related note, i am seeing a lot of navy & white pinstripes, but no black & white pinstripes ... i've been wanting a good pair of black and white pinstripe pants for a while now.

sarahell, Saturday, 18 May 2019 17:36 (four years ago) link

I like peplums too but not on suit jackets although I probably have a blazer with a peplum. I like suits to be really linear which is a problem when there are boobs involved.

Yerac, Saturday, 18 May 2019 17:40 (four years ago) link

I love pinstripes a lot.

Yerac, Saturday, 18 May 2019 17:42 (four years ago) link

i guess the issue of what fasteners are on the jacket and where/how is key there

sarahell, Saturday, 18 May 2019 17:43 (four years ago) link

Yeah I prefer 3 buttons but that typically does not work with my body. I really really hate those two horizontal buttons they do sometimes. And I also really hate the huge ass decorative buttons they do.

I remember having to get a last minute suit once thinking it wouldn't be an issue, especially in nyc but it was totally an issue. I hit j crew, banana republic, burlington, macys, and I must've hit some weird gap between seasons because there was absolutely nothing that wasn't matronly or full of "pizzazz." I think I finally found a plain black normal skirt suit but it still had a leopard print lining that made me want to barf.

Yerac, Saturday, 18 May 2019 17:50 (four years ago) link

I like jackets that have the buttons higher up -- the ones that have buttons where mens' suits typically do -- tend to lead to unflattering puckering and tightness in the waist and hips. ... i came to the conclusion not that long ago, that the key is less the jacket, and more the skirt or pants and how well it fits in the waist and flows down from there. ... I used to try to make the jacket serve as camouflage for the flaws of the skirt/pants.

sarahell, Saturday, 18 May 2019 18:01 (four years ago) link

basically, if the top and skirt/pants look great, the jacket is kinda like window dressing. I also tend to create a suit out of separates, which might not be appropriate in all situations

sarahell, Saturday, 18 May 2019 18:03 (four years ago) link

I kind of went to the easiness of just wearing a dress with a blazer over it.

I am looking at pics of Katherine Moenning and Gillian Anderson in suits now.

Yerac, Saturday, 18 May 2019 18:13 (four years ago) link

I do not like paperbag trousers. Just a no-no. They look crap on most people.

nathom, Saturday, 18 May 2019 20:09 (four years ago) link

yeah, if they don't make you look extra fat (like me), they make you look messy.

sarahell, Sunday, 19 May 2019 18:54 (four years ago) link

Exactly. And you have to be tall otherwise you look like a dwarf.

nathom, Sunday, 19 May 2019 20:17 (four years ago) link

Ugh are paperbag trousers back in "fashion"? Another reason we are living in hell right now.

Yerac, Sunday, 19 May 2019 20:55 (four years ago) link

i have seen them depicted on online shopping sites, so I assume so? ... also, if you failed to buy everything in coral when it came out, now is your chance to buy coral colored everything on clearance

sarahell, Sunday, 19 May 2019 21:12 (four years ago) link

I still watch Project Runway and the newest season is completely different (different host, mentor, workroom, all size models, not just 1-2 non-white token contestants). I am less likely to get angry during the show about designers seeming good because they only design for 5'9" 115 lb women.

Yerac, Sunday, 19 May 2019 21:17 (four years ago) link

It's kind of crazy how long it took for people to put mf'ing pockets in most dresses.

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Friday, 21 June 2019 14:05 (four years ago) link

I would buy a pair now if I saw some that I like. I am still very into wearing knee high socks with shorts in the fall. It gives a casual appearance of wearing knee high boots without the commitment.

Seemed ok on first appearance.

Stevolende, Friday, 21 June 2019 21:32 (four years ago) link

paper bag waists on trousers and skirts are unflattering on many women's bodies ... i haven't thought about it in terms of cis-male bodies ...

sarahell, Sunday, 23 June 2019 20:54 (four years ago) link

eight months pass...

the paper bag waist with a tie belt is everywhere now ... I am feeling proud of my hoard of pants and skirts that are not of this type ... it's like I'm a fashion prepper, and these tie-belt paper bag waist garments are a stylistic coronavirus

sarahell, Monday, 2 March 2020 18:05 (four years ago) link

also -- blouses and dresses that have fussy bows and neck ties and the sleeves that get in the way of doing things with your hands + bunch up awkwardly under sweaters and coats

sarahell, Monday, 2 March 2020 18:07 (four years ago) link

i had to look back to see when those were mentioned before. 9 months ago! I still haven't really noticed them but maybe my eyes just skip over them like ads.

I am really over shirts that have random writing on them. Just stop. Cleansing period.

Yerac, Monday, 2 March 2020 18:09 (four years ago) link

I like neck bows but I always have, since I was a little kid. I'm ok with them. The paperbag waist is not good.

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Monday, 2 March 2020 18:33 (four years ago) link

I went through a phase with those neckbows. I was channeling 60s secretary at one point.

Yerac, Monday, 2 March 2020 18:37 (four years ago) link

Also, I was annoyed about tankinis being a punchline on tv/movies. At least enough that it's noticeable.

Yerac, Monday, 2 March 2020 18:41 (four years ago) link

Love neckties/ribbons for channeling a 1970s magician vibe, which is all I want for myself out of fashion.

Paperbag waists are a scourge, agreed. Rarely flattering, difficult to pair with anything. I'm currently troubled by the rise in boiler suits because I think they look amazing but could never make it work.

tangenttangent, Tuesday, 3 March 2020 12:34 (four years ago) link

i thought about not being able to pull off the boilersuit too but after watching Sex Education, I am going to DO IT. One at least.

Yerac, Tuesday, 3 March 2020 13:04 (four years ago) link

i love neckbows but i don't like the historical name for them :( neckties aren't really an option for me and scarves are too much work for me to accessorize.

i don't see paperbag waist (which, yes, is awful) in the wild myself but maybe it'll hit this year... i was sort of surprised when bell bottoms came back but then i realized how good they look when done right.

are boiler suits really a fashion thing? again, this is something i could not ever do... i mean if you want to look like a member of DEVO or joel hodgson that is fine but that's skirting the line between "fashion" and "cosplay" for me...

Kate (rushomancy), Tuesday, 3 March 2020 13:35 (four years ago) link

DO IT! I would if I could somehow find one that would work for me. Some really nice ones here: https://www.whowhatwear.co.uk/boilersuit-fashion-trend

tangenttangent, Tuesday, 3 March 2020 14:10 (four years ago) link

boilersuit = jumpsuit?

i would happily wear one if it were cut in a moderately flattering way for my size/shape. i went through my menswear phase in college, i am short, my hair is short and my boobs are small. jumpsuits are not for me. rompers are ok though.

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Tuesday, 3 March 2020 14:18 (four years ago) link

I think people use them synonymously? but they are different?

yeah, i want a very utilitarian boilersuit but was looking at one these jumpsuits (found it after researching the clothes from the show). I think the cut is very flattering and I like the green. https://www.nancymac.co.uk/collections/jumpsuits-1

LL, Gillian Anderson is like your description in the show (short hair + very petite) and she looked amazing in the jumpsuits. But she is Gillian Anderson I know.

yeah i mean they are cute but i can't imagine a world in which one would fit me and also be something i want to wear based on the places i normally go and the things i normally do.
i'd rather just wear a dress

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Tuesday, 3 March 2020 14:30 (four years ago) link

she is gillian anderson + has a team of people making sure her clothes are perfect
if someone gave me one, and it fit me, i would gladly wear it. i would not go out of my way to acquire one.

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Tuesday, 3 March 2020 14:32 (four years ago) link

Yeah, I have a closet full of clothes that don't fit my life anymore which is why I generally stopped buying non-essential new clothes. I am a complete sucker for green though.

Yerac, Tuesday, 3 March 2020 14:35 (four years ago) link

I feel like my style aethetic these days is "shape-shifter from Twilight". I am totally wearing cut off sweatpants right now.

Yerac, Tuesday, 3 March 2020 14:39 (four years ago) link

Lol, great aesthetic. Those jumpsuits are all beautiful! Emerald green velvet is an all-time colour and fabric combination.

Boiler suit definitely more utilitarian/androgynous than a jumpsuit.

My wardrobe most closely resembles Otis’s series of 70s striped tees from Sex Education

tangenttangent, Tuesday, 3 March 2020 15:43 (four years ago) link

There is not a striped tshirt in 70s color combinations that I could ever pass up. I still have a bunch from high school that I collected. The Gap and Espirit back in the day used to do good work keeping things like that always in stock.

Yerac, Tuesday, 3 March 2020 15:46 (four years ago) link

Like, I want better striped Tshirts for women in stores instead of bullshit shirts that say "it's wine o'clock".

Yerac, Tuesday, 3 March 2020 15:47 (four years ago) link

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but Ebay is kind of a great resource for quirky shirts that may include the striped variety. I have a blue and white striped button up that I cherish and have worn to hell. It's a favorite of mine.

My aesthetic is currently trending "post-apocalyptic ewok planet urchin" because this is the last thing I bought:

My friend has coined a term for Afro-centric unabashedly kooky but still hot woman of a certain age and that is "Art Heaux Auntie." I aspire.

Suits are suffering. They're almost uniformly awful. Also, ime, maybe more than some other clothing items, suits are for thin people. They might not fit everywhere, they might not be flattering to some bodies, but if you're curvy & have specific tastes it is MURDER to find a suit. There's just so much fabric and structure.

I can't afford MM LaFleur but I could dig this one IF I could pay even more to have it tailored/shortened: https://mmlafleur.com/shop/product/jackets/oliver-jacket-gray-melange/

I hate suits and blazers so much.

tokyo rosemary, Tuesday, 3 March 2020 18:57 (four years ago) link

boilersuit / jumpsuit -- definitely would be a challenge for my shape -- back when I did art gallery maintenance stuff, I was gonna get a pair of blue coveralls because I would periodically get paint on my clothes, and the purpose of the coveralls was to prevent that. But, like the coveralls, I would only go for the ones that look institutional -- like a member of Devo, or like Sigourney Weaver's outfit in Alien. (n.b. I do not resemble Sigourney Weaver whatsoever).

sarahell, Tuesday, 3 March 2020 18:59 (four years ago) link

I've decided I like peplum blazers. ... I still have a soft spot for the somewhat oversized shiny / sparkly ones that are kinda Vegas lounge singer or rockabilly looking. On the rare occasions I do have to wear traditional business clothes, I do a peplum blazer and an above-the-knee skirt with a flounce. I feel like that's the most flattering that type of clothing can get for someone who is big and not exceptionally leggy.

sarahell, Tuesday, 3 March 2020 19:03 (four years ago) link

in orbit the last thing you bought is really cool and i want it for myself

marcos, Tuesday, 3 March 2020 19:08 (four years ago) link

i really like funnel-y necked clothing.

Yeah peplum suit jackets are great ( I probably said that above somewhere when I was bitching about suits. It resolves the hip and length of jacket problem.

I like the versatility of it! otm

sarahell, Tuesday, 3 March 2020 19:31 (four years ago) link

i like oversize things too

and black denim

marcos, Tuesday, 3 March 2020 19:39 (four years ago) link

I do think it's kind of crazy that they, in general, sell women things like rompers, one piece bathing suits, jumpsuits with no way of knowing exactly how long the torso is.

Yerac, Tuesday, 3 March 2020 19:46 (four years ago) link

Btw the neck on that jumper is enormous. It's a lot like wearing your dad's old shirt as an arts & crafts smock, which I really like about it. I have to wash it though because it smells really chemicaly and funky out of the bag, presumably from the toxic chemicals in the acid-wash black denim.

I was wearing my new apocalypse tunic to the store today and the Trader Joe’s cashier said “I like your........ garment?” And I was like yeah I know me neither.

Yerac, Wednesday, 4 March 2020 22:34 (four years ago) link

twice at a past job I wore a top that two different colleagues whisper-asked if it was pajamas. They were only kind of kidding and I couldn't get offended because I could kind of see it. blousey 70s polyester tops sometimes have that effect.

I have several blazers. Electric blue suit. Not that I wear’em often. (Too many clothes.)

Obsessed w mini dresses. Since the ex disliked it on me and I am free: shit yeah I’m gonna wear mini dresses. 🖕🖕🖕

nathom, Wednesday, 4 March 2020 23:33 (four years ago) link

how could anyone hate minidresses on their partner?? literally unthinkable

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 4 March 2020 23:36 (four years ago) link

Omg don’t get me started. When we were 30, we needed to dress “our age.” (Basically bland.) lolz. I already have two mini dresses, 2 mini skirts,... ha

nathom, Wednesday, 4 March 2020 23:40 (four years ago) link

dude. no. i am 41 and i feel like mini dresses and mini skirts are the only way. I look weird in longer things.

Yerac, Wednesday, 4 March 2020 23:43 (four years ago) link

macron's wife is however old and looks awesome in minis.

Lol I’m not even entertaining the idea that a controlling jerk on the other side of the planet has anything to do with my attire. Wish he didn’t keep popping up in every other thread bc I’m sick of him and his stupid opinions!

Yerac, Thursday, 5 March 2020 01:05 (four years ago) link

I thought the boilersuit was a 70s feminist look almost deliberately anti aesthetic or at least functionallover attractive.
Because the wearer was above advertising their body and was more about practicality.

& the jumpsuit was late 70s disco/new wave. Probably a bit more flattering but still somewhat military or utility minded.

Stevolende, Thursday, 5 March 2020 01:08 (four years ago) link

Both require one to remove her top to engage in a simple pee, so not actually as modest or functional as they seem. Very 70s
