Thought her Letterman performance was pretty interesting, curious to hear more.

Trying to figure out what classic country singer she reminds me of -- she's a little more nasaly than June Carter or Loretta Lynn.

I keep seeing her around; I'm also curious

she seems to be a pretty serious student of the Anthology of American Folk Music and its ilk

NPR and the Lumineers like her and she's moved to Brooklyn(Williamsburg) but I will still give her a chance!

there is definitely something a little Paste/dadrock/oldmanhat about the way she is being packaged and marketed, but I think she is good. Better than Lumineers in any case.

Will get to her eventually, but I still need to hear O.B. Buchana's latest first. He's associated with Memphis too, but he's an Ecko label southern soul artist that never gets NPR attention and only XChuckX and I seem to like here.

A whole different musical style though it would be great to hear Booker T. Jones on one of his albums someday as well

I found this album sorta cloying and overwrought and I hated the one song that was obviously meant for people who were interested in the Dan Auerbach connection. She has a big NYT Mag feature this weekend.

saw her this weekend in Toronto. Really enjoyed the show. The tone in her voice is unusual, somewhere between Iris Dement and (maybe?) Malian singers like Khaira Arby? Bits of Jessie Mae Hemphill, too. I wish she'd played with a band, but solo was good, too. Sure silenced the room. Banjo. guitar and ukelele were all played. She ended off by wandering through the crowd singing "Goodnight Irene" with a tambourine.

heard "long lonely road" on the radio last night, i was impressed, this feels true which is unfortunate-->

there is definitely something a little Paste/dadrock/oldmanhat about the way she is being packaged and marketed,

Gilles peterson played some of her new album. Made me think I should've investigated her music year ago.

another killer show tonight in Eugene, the 2nd time this year I've seen her rock the fuck out to a sold out venue.

I think the reason she gets radio silence on ILM is because it's too "authentic" and/or "rootsy" or what the fuck ever, there's maybe some chatter on the rolling country thread but imho that pigeonhole does a disservice to an artist who covers Mazzy Star and frequently plays loud electric guitar in a 5-piece band
