dare i ask what 'club step' or 'ethnotronica' is

― Nult AGL (a hoy hoy), Tuesday, 5 April 2011 16:34 (12 minutes ago)

It's Italy, this is the land where someone told me with a straight face once, pointing out some random dude hauling gear in a black T-shirt, "Oh, he's the keyboardist for Italy's biggest reggae band."

Actually now that I think about it the person who pointed that dude out to me must have been our own Marco Damiani.

― Ned Raggett, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 9:15 AM (32 minutes ago)

It was me.
The band is Africa Unite, they are big (on Universal, I think?), and yes there are lots of reggae/ska bands here - all uniformly terrible.

― Marco Damiani, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 9:29 AM (18 minutes ago)

Hahah thank you sir -- can you give some of the names of these other terrible bands?

― Ned Raggett, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 9:32 AM (16 minutes ago)

kkvgz's photo is of Africa Unite so he called it -- was it the bastard on the right there who you pointed out?

― Ned Raggett, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 9:33 AM (15 minutes ago)

If I saw an Italian band calling themselves "Africa Unite", I'd be tempted to ask "With who first? Ethiopia? Libya?"

― ᓇᐃᑦᑐᒥᒃ ᐅᖃᓕᒫᕐᕕᒃ (Pleasant Plains), Tuesday, April 5, 2011 9:34 AM (14 minutes ago)

"This video wants to be a praise to diversity etc" or so they say in their site:

― Marco Damiani, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 9:37 AM (11 minutes ago)

this is going on the jjj wedding playlist

― fat fat fat fat Usher (DJP), Tuesday, April 5, 2011 9:38 AM (9 minutes ago)

Ned, they guy you saw is the one sitting on the right - to add insult to injury he was there as the producer of that terrible nu metalish band that did the cover of soundgarden's black old sun!

― Marco Damiani, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 9:39 AM (9 minutes ago)

soundgarden - that black old sun

― I'm totally kidding. Congrats strangers. (Matt P), Tuesday, April 5, 2011 9:41 AM (7 minutes ago)

oops, lucky, old, hole...who cares, it's all the same!

"can you give some of the names of these other terrible bands"

too many to name them all - check the one called Pitura Freska (get the joke, eh?), there's a special place in hell reserved for them.

― Marco Damiani, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 9:44 AM (4 minutes ago)

Ned, they guy you saw is the one sitting on the right - to add insult to injury he was there as the producer of that terrible nu metalish band that did the cover of soundgarden's black old sun!

Oh believe me, I remember that all too well.

"In my LII-IE-IFE!"

― Ned Raggett, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 9:45 AM (2 minutes ago)

I don't think Africa Unite is anything compared to this Finnish reggae classic from 1981:

― Tuomas, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 9:46 AM (2 minutes ago)

Beginning to think we need a new thread here...

― Ned Raggett, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 9:47 AM (1 minute ago)

TBH though, at the moment there is a pretty vibrant reggae scene in here, and some of the acts are actually quite decent.

Przyjdź do nas i rozpocznij swoją mexykańską przygodę!
