My favourites are the bands that appear on Get Smart. Whether it's at a party/happening or a band that's intended by Kaos to send out a sublimal message that turns everyone evil, they have great 'live' music. So, if anyone knows any interesting trivia about the Get Smart guest/house bands in particular, please tell me.

the feelies at the prom were the only good thing about "something wild"
andy warhol was great on the 200th anniversary sailing of the original loveboat
the young and the restless had their own fake pop star in plot as love interest as well as terrible hearthrob rock gig filler material
the beach boys should have been banned from any form of tv years ago (even timaru local -- should i mention Snakeskin ?) and the osbournes would be as good as the partridge family if they gave us a song each episode -- hey reality tv
back in the funny old days the Monkees sincerely added Head but you will have to bring us up to speed about Get Smart

There was a *GREAT* "Love Boat" episode where Sony Bono played an Alice Cooper/Gene Simmons character named "Deacon Dark" who was trying to change him image, but Gopher was a huge fan of his, particularly his hit tune "Step, Step, Step on Toads." I swear I'm not making this up.

also quite fond of the lovin' spoonful in "what's up tigerlily" and the bizarre line up of musical guests in the strange canadian roadmovie "roadkill". not only do we get nash the slash, but we also have a strange bit with one of the ramones and a cuddly toy. i forget which ramone it is but the conceit throughout the film has been lying taxi driver making great claims about his music links. and then when all the protagonists are in a bar one of the ramones pops by for some bizarre reason. very strange film. would love to see that one again...

Steve Nieve and the playboys from (I think) "The last resort" had some wonderfully cheesy moments.
The MTV send up on "The day today" with Nirvana doing "Pantie smile" and the gangster rapper "Far Q" while not really relevant to this thread is pretty funny.

Yeah I remember that one, I was laughing so hard at that late hour. I could never understand how Seinfeld and larry sanders used to get such late hours on BBC2.

However, we've joked about bands appearing on The Muppets so many times that I've actually come to believe that it happened. Please someone reassure me that Bauhaus NEVER appeared on Sesame Street, miming "Spirit" to the accompaniment of little fluffy bats and the Count because we've joked about it so much I'm CONVINCED that it happenned.

The Mothers-In-Law: In a special episode of this somewhat-forgotten series about the trials of two pairs of middle-agers coping with their married offspring, the older set have a go at managing wild primitive rockers Sky Saxon and The Seeds! This amazing show was directed by Desi Arnaz, and also features Joe Besser of The Three Stooges (what a meeting of the minds!).
The Flintstones: In "Shinrock-a-Go-Go," then-popular rock showcase Shindig and its host Jimmy O'Neill are caricatured, as are San Francisco's genius folk-rock/beat group The Beau Brummels. Fred inadvertently invents a new dance craze, "The Flintstone Flop," as "The Beau Brummelstones" play their hit "Laugh Laugh."
Plus much more, including The Andy Griffith Show (Opie's garage band play their first gig at a teen party), and Love American Style (with segments featuring both Davy Jones and Sonny & Cher).

Supposedly, the Quincy punk band (Mayhem) were based on Fear, but it was a fake band.

Does anybody (wish they could not) remember a TV comedy called "Throb", set in the offices of a record label? (The throb record label had a logo of a heart so stop that!)..
One episode had a 'punk' theme, where the three band members were all sulky and snotty and not nice, but when it came to the gig, one of the band members was all nice and rocky and the other two all rubbish. Clearly the two were actors and the rocky one was a bona fide star guest.
At the end the record label guy was all "yeah, I guess the kids go for it, I'm more a CSN&Y guy myself"
( I think Sammy Hagar was involved somehow)
(Like I don't actually know it was him, like)
