Some POLLS Wander By Mistake - it's the Sisters Of Mercy pre-Warners poll

This might be the hardest poll ever for me, I love almost all of this equally (although the Damage Done single isn't very good really, is it).

At the moment I am swayed towards Adrenochrome, but a week is a long time.

During those years when I catively listened to this, I would have said 'Alice' straight away, now I'm not so sure. I may have overplayed that song

'Body Electric' sounds tempting

Not this version. The other Body Electric is way better.

Lights or Heartland for me. Lights, I think.

I'd vote for the squealy "WELL ALL RIGHT!" from 1969 if I could, but I had to stick with Alice in the end.

There are so many wonderful things here. I don't understand why I never really appreciated "Kiss The Carpet" back in the day. "Lights" should be way up there on the totem pole as well. That rhythm is infectious. "Heartland" is emotional to my ears. And trying to keep quiet about the amazing "1969"/"Gimme Shelter" covers...sigh. How can one really choose the best thing off this edifice of gothdam?

Oh okay I will...and no one will agree but it's still "Watch" because of the delicious Jah Wobbly PIL bass. And because I didn't hear it back in the day so it's newer to me.

where is the "Body And Soul" EP? Doesn't that predate Warners also?

I thought Body and Soul was after the Warner deal but I can't be arsed digging it out to look.

Swaying towards Adrenochrome or Floorshow. Tough poll.

Regardless of the Warner thing, I think the Body and Soul EP deserves to be in the "consistently good" section of any Sisters history.

very very difficult. for me came down to "anaconda" and "floorshow" - surprised not to see more love for "anaconda" here, I had the 7" way back and there was something real raw about it. but "floorshow" - that "go go go go go" - that was my fucking jam.

Body Electric is the last Merciful Release EP if I remember - the blue one.

I listen to this album quite frequently and the one I keep coming back to is "Phantom." Sublime.

"Valentine" comes to mind for me at the most random times. Something about that ending.

HOWEVER - the other day I cranked "Valentine" up for the first time in forever and it took me completely by surprise.

I think my favorite works by Eldritch & co. are the dubbed-out drony things - Marian, Phantom, Valentine, Never Land, Flood I, Colours (esp. the Sisterhood version), etc.

Seriously though there's one track on this that I kept thinking was a harbinger of the Sisterhood EP. I'm not sure which one it was, now. I'll figure it out eventually.

i made a 80's compilation for my other music board so i dug this out. the song that i ended up picking was "Alice" when i first thought it was going to be "Temple Of Love." so "Alice" is my vote as it worked very well as the third song.

I have been going through these eps for the first time this week and lo and behold it's Andrew Eldritch's 60th birthday today.

I turned in my Goth card when I sold all my Sisters albums this year. They hadn't done anything for me in ages. Still like the odd track but the material never really compelled me to listen to it.

I would have voted for 'Alice', which is still a stone cold classic IMO.
