does anyone know if "the wire" is indexed in any databases? or if any us libraries have the full or even part of the magazine's run in their collections?

it's about the wire magazine if you bothered to look.

i did look, but i can't quite parse it. it compiles references to wire issues from across the web?

that's not really what i'm looking for...

it's also an "indexed" "database" of articles and reviews in the magazine, or at least some of them.

Ulrich's Periodicals Directory does not list any databases or indexes for it, and that's where you'd normally look to find out. So I'm guessing it's not in any of the usual databases. This one looks nifty, but it stops in 2000:

I know we've got pretty much every issue at Exeter University Library.

That's no help at all though.

careful nick, he'll ask you to act as his personal Wire directory in a second...

not exactly what you're looking for, and not exactly up to date, but nevertheless:

the wire audio companion

actually, the wire website itself probably has better audio these days.

Free Library of Philadelphia has it going back at least ten years, probably a little further. I don't know about indexing. Did you check Ulrich's? That will tell you where things are indexed.

I would think lots of libraries in the US would have a complete run though.

R_S (RSLaRue), Monday, 8 January 2007 12:49 (fifteen years ago) link

erm actually i have a complete run - but i wd be a bit surprised if many US libraries have all of the first 20 or so issues, it was VERY er "underground" to start with

there is a somewhat cranky online index here, which begins w.#101: there is (or was) an actual real published index for the first 100 issues tho whether it is still available i couldn't say (it is pre-digital)

By "lots" I meant "maybe a couple." Seriously, though, there must be some who have it on microfilm. (Is it commercially available on microfilm? I could check all of these things in about 20 minutes.)

five years pass...

I'm trying to track down David Toop's article on Christian Marclay from the Oct. 2011 issue. Anyone have digital access?
