How about Time of the Season and Stand By Me? Teenage Fanclub's Star Sign and SY's Teenage Riot (although I'm sure many picked that out), TFC's Gene Clark and Love's No Matter What You Do (Plus STB's the Joker) or TFC's December and Television's Guiding Light? I still like the Fannies even though I can spot their influences out a mile away.

I mean, pretty much exactly the same. You almost have to wait till the verse starts to know which song you're listening to.

There is a 60s mini-epic that's almost a carbon copy of Moody Blues' Nights in White Satin, though it bears a resemblance with David McWilliams Days of Pearly Spencer as well. It's a slowly moving song. When the vocalist is done, the song fade-out takes forever and consists of epic violins and a mellotron repeating a very very melancholy melody over and over.
Who and what is it?!!
I grew up with this song in de seventees, as part of the radio's golden oldies selection. I have no idea about the artist or name of the song and can't remember any part of the lyrics. The song is not mentioned in the 60's mini-epics thread, as I checked all those songs out.
Please shoot, al possibilities are welcome...

No it wasn't fuckin' ME and they sound NOTHING alike. The Crue ripped off the middle-eight of "Love Like Blood" for the intro to "Dr.Feelgood", if that makes you feel any better.

Two songs on the same album no less. "Stories" even has a bit of 'the one I love' in the lyrics. "No One" is really the riff more than the way the lyrics work over the song.

Does anyone know how to get in touch with him?

This might be a stretch, but it just occurred to me that King Floyd's 'Groove Me' and the Rolling Stones' 'Tumbling Dice' have a fairly similar verse structure.
