I was blue and lonely, I couldn’t sleep a winkAnd I could only get unconscious if I’d had to much to drinkThere was somehow, something wrong somewhereAnd each day seemed grey and deadThe seeds of desperation were growing in my headI needed inspiration, a brand new start in lifeSomewhere to place affection, but I didn’t want a wifeAnd then by lucky chance I saw in a special magazineAn ad that was unusual, the like I’d never seenExperience something different with our new imported toyShe’s loving, warm, inflatible and a guarantee of joy.She came all wrapped in cardboard, all pink and shrivelled downA breath of air was all she needed to make her lose that frownI took her to the bedroom and pumped her with some lifeAnd later in a moment that girl became my wifeAnd so I sit her in the corner and sometimes stroke her hairAnd when I’m feeling naughty I blow her up with airShe’s cuddly and she’s bouncy, she’s like a rubber ballI bounce her in the kitchen and I bounce her in the hallAnd now my life is different since sally came my wayI wake up in the morning and have her on a trayShe’s everything they say she was and I wear a permanent grinAnd I only have to worry in case my girl wears thin

"You know One time things got so bad until I had to go to one of my friends and talk to him And I told him, I said, “You know I’m having problems with the woman that I love It seems that I call her on the phone and I just can’t get her to answer And then I went to her house and I saw a car parked in the driveway I knocked on the door, but still my knocks went unanswered And then I went home and I-I watched television until television went off And then I played my records until I just didn’t want to hear them anymore And finally I went to bed, but I found myself waking up a few hours later And the tears were running down my face” And my friend told me, he said, “Lenny, You just oughta forget about her” But I told my friend, I said, “You know Maybe you’ve never been in love like I’ve been in love And maybe you’ve never felt the things that I’ve felt” But this is what I told my friend I said, “You know, sometimes you get lonely You get lonely, you get lonely” Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh"

These groups and singers think that they appeal to everyoneby singing about love because apparently everyone has or can loveor so they would have you believe anywaybut these groups seem to go along with what, the beliefthat love is deep in everyone`s personality.I don`t think we`re saying there`s anything wrong with love,we just don`t think that what goes on between two peopleshould be shrouded with mystery.

I couldn't stand this bland sound anymore, so I walked towards my deck to turn it off. All I could see was the b-side of the disc, which had assumed a doughnut shape with the label on the outside rim. I reached for the arm, which was less than one micron long but weighed more than Saturn, and time stood still. I knew I had to escape ...But every time I tried to fleeThe record was in front of me

49. Joy Division - No Love Lost:
Through the wire screen, the eyes of those standing outside looked inAt her as into the cage of some rare creature in a zoo.In the hand of one of the assistants she saw the same instrumentWhich they had that morning inserted deep into her body. she shudderedInstinctively. no life at all in the house of dolls. No love lost. no love lost.
48. Nina Simone - New World Coming:
And I saw another sign in HeavenGreat and marvellousSeven angels having the seven last plaguesfor in them is filled up the Wrath of GodAnd I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fireAnd them that had gotten the victory over the beastAnd over his imageand over his markand over his name, stand on the sea of glasswith the harps of God all around them.

"I attended service at a little church in the country not long agoA prayer was laid(?) but an old country preacher who then raised his hands as everyone stood and sang, 'My God is Real'A warm breeze through the open windows brought in the smell of new mown hay in a nearby fieldAnd the singin of birds could be heard in the moment of silence as the preacher opened his Bible to readAnd then, a little old man stood up, bent with age, his hair thin and white, and said,'Preacher! Tell them that Satan is real too! You can hear him in songs that give praise to idols and sinful things of this world! You can see him in the destruction of homes torn apart!I know that Satan is real, for once'd I had a happy homeI was loved and respected by my family I was looked upon as a leader in my communityAnd then, Satan came into my lifeI grew selfish and unneighborlyMy friends turned against meAnd finally, my home was broken apartMy children took their paths into a world of sinYes, preacher, it's sweet to know that God is realAnd to know that in him, all things are possibleAnd we know that heaven is a real place where joys shall never endBut sinner friend, if you're here today, Satan is real tooAnd hell is a real placeA place of everlasting punishment!'"

So we laid in bed afterwards and / she asked me what made me frightened / and I said "I'm frightened of Belgian chocolates / I'm frightened of pot pourri I'm frightened of James Dean posters I'm frightened of twenty-six inch screens / I'm frightened of remote control I'm frightened of endowment plans / I'm frightened of figurines I'm frightened of evenings in the Brincliffe Oaks searching for a conversation." If you read the album cover by now, you know that my name is what my name is. When I came in here to try and do this, something I'd never done before, Mr. Jones, Booker T., said to me, "Don't worry about it. Just do what you do, and do it good."

There are like four songs on "Use Your Illusion II" with one of these, all of them batshit insane ("Civil War," "Knockin' on Heaven's Door," I think "Breakdown"). The longest, greatest and most ridiculous of them, of course, is from "Get In The Ring," which approximates one of Axl's countless onstage rant/meltdowns. I hope the journalists threatened therein didn't actually suffer any physical harm from overzealous fans. The whole song is just a reminder of how fucking gone these guys were by 1991 - GN'R was well into Spinal Tap territory before the stroke of 1989.

dudes, the Shangri-Las own this shit, even apart from "Leader of the Pack"
"Give Him A Great Big Kiss":Well, what color are his eyes?I dunno, he's always wearin' shadesIs he tall?Well, I gotta look up!Yeah, well I hear he's badMmm, he's good-bad, but he's not evil.
"Give Us Your Blessings":The next day they found themMary and Jimmy were deadAnd as their folks knelt beside them in the rainThey couldn't help but hear the last wordsMary and Jimmy had said
"Long Live Our Love":It's the fighting that has come between usAnd it's taken you far, far awayBut please don't wonder if I'll be faithfulYou're in my heart both night and daySo, darling, I send my love to you,While you are fighting overseas,And I know one day if we are lucky,God will send you back to me
I guess disqualify "Past, Present, and Future" and "I Can Never Go Home Anymore" for being all spoken word, even though they RULE.

It's a pun on "issues", yes, but Numan actually says "SUs" in the song and on the lyric sheet as well. It's a reference to Su Wathan his girlfriend at the time.
