My favourite album of the 90s - possibly of all time. Let's celebrate this.

What gets me is the Boo Radleys' transition from pleasant MBV-lite shoegazing on "Everything's Alright Forever" to the pure eclectic brilliance of Giant Steps.

Favourite tracks - too many to mention but I have to say that Lazarus and Butterfly McQueen are totally stellar.

I bought this when I was about 15 or 16 - it still blows my mind away.

There's a tenth anniversary site that Martin Carr set up somewhere in the Boo's official site, with lots of little bits about it. He emailed me after finding something I'd written for Stylus about it asking if I'd stick my oar in a little; a friend of mine used to run the Boo's fanclub (her husband sold our department it's digital editing suite about six months before I got the job here, weird world-collapse). I'm sure there must be another thread somewhere; I've certainly seen plenty of Boos love expressed on ILM, most of it concurring that GS is the toppermost LP.

A lovely album. (Though I no longer have the full length version, just the sampler has survived.) But I do actually slightly prefer Everything's Alright Forever...

Everything's Alright Forever seemed more consistent, but the high points on GS are near-perfect Big Embellished Pop nuggets innit. Actually I'd probably edit both of those LPs down by a good 3-4 tracks. Maybe include one of the longer versions of "Lazarus" instead... :)

I love this (& the surrounding eps/singles) to absolute bits, hate everything afterwards, & can never remember anything about everything's alright forever. odd/baffling/whatevah. "rodney king (song for lenny bruce)" is utterly fabulous, & I really wish the saint etienne remix of it had gone dance-pop instead of ambient.

but wake up! and 'c'mon kids' are both fantastic. Kingsize is mostly forgettable though.
