What I mean is KYLIE'S VOICE sounds a bit like RICK ASTLEY'S VOICE when slowed down. Although speeding Rick up doesn't make him sound like KM.

I've just realised how hilarious it would be to slow "Red Blooded Woman" down to see if IT sounds like Rick. The last time I tried this on a Kylie record was "Some Kind Of Bliss", so something off Light Years or Fever might still work.

i've got the vh1/blender "50 worst songs" thing on and the only reasons they give for "never gonna give you up" being bad are that rick astley (a) isn't black (b) looks like too much of "a nice guy." go figure!

My friend Jackie, my friend Allyson, and your humble narrator finished eating a late-night meal at Gorky's in Los Angeles one fine evening circa 1986. We dallied over coffee, as one did at Gorky's, and then left together to find our cars. On the way, we noticed lighting rigs and a sprayed-down-with-water street off to the left, about two blocks from Gorky's headed toward downtown. Intrigued, we sat on some steps across the street from all the we're-gonna-film-something apparatus. Allasudden music comes real loud outta some speakers and a guy in an overcoat (it's quite warm, mind you) comes strolling down the street lipsynching as a camera backpedals before him:

We watched until there was a clear break in the action (i.e. after they'd filmed this sequence a dozen times), then applauded. He turned to us, smiled, and gave a full gentleman's bow. Jackie and Allyson pronounced him quite obviously of better stock than your humble narrator, and asked your humble narrator mockingly why he could not be more like Rick.

My efforts in this area have met with varying success.
