Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 21:25 (twenty-three years ago)

I want to post something but that bio can't be touched.

Mark (MarkR), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 21:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Limiting myself to the ones I've actually written ;-) -- this was my fave.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 21:31 (twenty-three years ago)

I was at Barnes and Noble today at lunch, browsing cds, and they have these machines now where you can scan any cd and listen to it, or type in the name of a band and listen to song fragments. Anyways, they also provide the AMG bio along with the songs, and it was weird to see Ned's name somewhere other than on my computer. Like he was following me.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 21:36 (twenty-three years ago)

That's because I AM.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 21:37 (twenty-three years ago)

were you listening to the raunchy young lepers at barnes and noble?

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 21:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Just wait until Jason Ankeny's Brian Austin Green bio goes up.

Andy K (Andy K), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 21:37 (twenty-three years ago)

I wish. I don't remember what it was. But I would have remembered if it was Raunchy Young Lepers.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 21:51 (twenty-three years ago)

I love how Mayhem is linked to Ataraxia (serene, gentle, medieval acoustic music with soprano vocals) in Similar Artists!

Siegbran (eofor), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 21:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, that's the other Ataraxia.

Andy K (Andy K), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 21:58 (twenty-three years ago)

"...and Euronymous reportedly cooked and ate pieces of Dead's brain"

I'm pretty sure the Beatles got there first.

dleone (dleone), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 22:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Actually, I just remembered, I got to do this bio. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 22:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Is there another one then? The Ataraxia linked in that AMG bio is the Italian ensemble I mentioned, this one.

Siegbran (eofor), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 22:07 (twenty-three years ago)

(My sense of humor doesn't go over well on screen.)

Andy K (Andy K), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 22:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Bad Andy! No biscuit!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 22:09 (twenty-three years ago)

It's great how every morbid joke any Mayhem member makes in interviews is picked up by enthusiastic biographers.
"I worked in a mental hospital" (that explains skribble skribble)
"Euronymous cooked Dead's brains" (how odd skribble skribble)
"I have a necklace with his skull fragments" (you don't say skribble skribble)
"I killed him because he was more evil than me" (oh my skribble skribble)
"Our drummer rerecorded Vikernes' bass tracks" (ah obviously skribble skribble)

Siegbran (eofor), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 22:18 (twenty-three years ago)

biographers in writing down what musicians say SHOCKAH!

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 22:21 (twenty-three years ago)

andy, you need to update that Mayhem bio:

See this NME news article today:
http://www.nme.com/news/104435.htm

Norwegian death metal band MAYHEM were involved in one of the most bizarre rock accidents last night (March 9) when a flying sheep's head fractured a fan's skull.

Lead singer Maniac was carving up a dead sheep as part of the stage act in Bergen when the animal's head flew off, striking Per Kristian Hagen, 25.,,,

DJ Martian (djmartian), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 22:47 (twenty-three years ago)

(hits head on table) Sorry, Andy...

Siegbran (eofor), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 22:51 (twenty-three years ago)

In 1991, lead vocalist Dead "lived" up to his name when he committed suicide.

Best pun evah?

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Tuesday, 11 March 2003 23:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Ned, as his musical biographer, do you think it's true that Bill Clinton likes Peter Brotzmann?

Matt B. (Matt B.), Wednesday, 12 March 2003 01:58 (twenty-three years ago)

I have my doubts.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 12 March 2003 02:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Haha Mayhem RULE!

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 12 March 2003 14:20 (twenty-three years ago)

came across this and thought it was pretty good. last sentence esp

marcg (marcg), Thursday, 13 March 2003 20:46 (twenty-three years ago)

sorry, that link does not work. it is the bio for g g allin.

marcg (marcg), Thursday, 13 March 2003 20:48 (twenty-three years ago)

OK, so it's not Mayhem.. which IS the best bio ever ... but continuing the thread ...

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 13 March 2003 20:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Jeez, a little skimpy with the stars there on the Eels.

Sam Jeffries (samjeff), Thursday, 13 March 2003 21:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Brian Austin Green

Andy K (Andy K), Friday, 14 March 2003 18:48 (twenty-three years ago)

". . . totally busy and stuff since."

Marvelous.

Amateurist (amateurist), Friday, 14 March 2003 19:05 (twenty-three years ago)

I like the bio for The KLF.

adam west (adamwest), Friday, 14 March 2003 19:15 (twenty-three years ago)

"Still the Beaver (about a retarded 40-year-old named Theodore Cleaver). That same year, he also appeared on Growing Pains with that girl who was always vomiting. "

..Baaaahaaaaahaaaa!

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 14 March 2003 19:16 (twenty-three years ago)

It probably doesn't rate with some of the above, but I've always found the Mercury Rev bio pretty hilarious. Especially in contrast to their more sedate music of the past few years.
