Yup, it's expensive. It should be. It's built by hand using the highest quality components available, Carr spared no expense in this box. It's much larger than the wattage suggests. It's about the size of a Fender Blues Deluxe...that's a 12" speaker grill you're looking at. I used to have tons of gear from cheap stuff all the way up expensive off the shelf gear from the major brands. Eventually I grew tired of sounding the same as everyone else and trading the same stuff everyone else had. I decided that I would rather have one or two very expensive, high quality pieces of gear than have an arsenal of mediocre crap. It's a lot like a vehicle. Wouldn't you rather drive a BMW, Mercedes or Tesla as opposed to what you might be driving today? Maybe it's not your thing, but it is mine. Going big was the best choice I ever made and I can hear and feel things playing through this amp that no other big name amp ever gave me. Why did I drop over 2 grand on one small amp with only 8 watts? Easy...I'm selfish. This amp was for me, it wasn't to share. It's for personal enjoyment. It's to enhance my playing by getting back from the amp what I put into it. It's like no other amp I've ever owned. I love this amp. So why sell it if it's the Holy Grail? Because there are others like it and I want to play them too. Once you go big and start playing all top of the line gear you can't go back. I'm a guitar player, my sound is constantly evolving.

Hand-wired point-to-point Boutique amp with high quality components. This amp new will cost you $2400 bucks and they don't go on sale. If you put this next to a brand new one you couldn't tell the difference...it's that mint!

For the Stage, studio recording, the bedroom player looking for desert island sound... it's all right here. This amp can be cranked up into full tube distortion without killing the neighbors. Everyone loves to cook the tubes to hear the breakup that you can only achieve with sizzling tubes. This amp takes you right there, in fact it lives there. A very loud 8 watt amp with built in attenuator goes down to 2 watts, 1/2 watt and 1/10th of a watt. Get YOUR tone at the volume you need. Cleans are like a Fender but when you crank the volume you get AC/DC type distortion all the way up to the full grind of a blown Tweed. It really reminds me a lot of a tweed Bassman when cranked. This amp is perfect for Blues or Classic Rock players. It sounds great through hollow-bodies like a ES-335. Don't let the 8 watts think you can't bring this to your blues jam. It's really loud at 8 watts and has no problem keeping up with a drummer. Try plugging this guy into a larger 2x12 cabinet and it just roars. This is the amp to bring on stage or the studio, nothing inspires tone like a cranked up amp. This amp is hand-wired, takes a variety of different output tubes and is mint. I have a 6L6, EL34 and a KT66 tube that goes with the amp. Cash is king - $1800

Trades? I'm interested in Vintage Blackface Fenders like the Deluxe Reverb, Pro Reverb, Super Reverb and Twin Reverb. I'd also consider American Stratocaster or a Gibson Les Paul +cash if needed to match value - must be mint condition items.

Those are supposed to be nice amps. Don't have anything you are looking to trade, but I got a ridiculous amount of gear at this point. Single dudes with tech jobs or work in tool and die always have crazy rigs. I ran into a bunch of Boogie's pretty cheap used for a few years and ended up with a handful of them. If you like Fender amps, go check out some of the old ones as they are basically hotwired Fender designs. I do have a cool Silverface Bassman head that with this Scrambler clone I got can sound like Cactus.

The Mark IIB on the left is probably my nicest amp. The 4x12 Marshall bottom is mine too, it's an old one from the early 80s. The Mark IIB is probably from '83.

In GAS recovery, I did finally flip a few of my old analog synths and made off quite well getting rid of my TR-909 that I got way back in 99'.

I've recently been looking to upgrade my tone for my weekly blues sit-in with some other attorneys in the North Loop (I'd specifically like to upstage this patent lawyer from Caplan tho acts like his modeling amp is god's gift to the blues), but I'm afraid Lino Lakes is a bit of hike for me can we possibly meet in Fridley?

chr1sb3singer, Monday, 9 January 2017 17:12 (seven years ago) link

He acts like he's so fancy with authentically relic'd Strat, but I'm really hoping that 8 watts of extremely buttery blues would take him down a peg

chr1sb3singer, Monday, 9 January 2017 17:15 (seven years ago) link

When Bonamassa played the State last spring he sprung for the VIP package and got to hang backstage and claims that the Big B gave him crucial pointers on finger placement and always prefaces his extremely bland (imho) solos with "I learned this from the master" and affects an extremely annoying pained facial expression. Also, when it's his turn to bring beer he always brings Bud Light which he claims is the "true blues" beer because of Clapton, even though everyone in our group overwhelming prefers local craft brews and I think the reason is he's essentially a cheapskate but claims that too much hops interferes with his blues playing.

I've heard the Carr amps are actually pretty damn good, but I can't get over their naming scheme: Skylark, Mercury, Impala, Rambler. Like, if you're going to take it that far, you might as well put some headlights on it or something. Then pick up one of these babies to go with it.

But just one, since real guitarists don't use effects or whatever.

He went to this Chicago Blues Fantasy camp thing two summers ago that Kenny Wayne Shepard made an appearance at and he is constantly referring to KWS as "Ken" like they hang out all the time. I was talking with a friend about this very rare Warren Haynes dvd I had acquired and he butted in even though I was specifically not talking to him stating that "Ken respects Warren but doesn't think he has a true blues sound and I have to agree" and I was basically forced to back-pedal and defend Warren Haynes, who I think is a very smooth and interesting blues player, in front several other attorneys who have very impressive gear and tones and I basically hate this person with every fiber of my being, you know what? fuck it, I will drive out Lino Lakes.

Investment grade Fender USA STRATOCASTER's "Art Guitars"
Shari Belafonte / Kevin Bacon

Presented here is an original Fender USA Stratocaster guitar hand painted by actress Shari Belafonte. She did the abstract painting on this guitar for a HeartStrings Charity event back in 2000. Belafonte is best known for as being the daughter of Harry Belafonte, her role as "Julie Giletta" on the 80's television series "Hotel", various modeling projects , and several appearances in Playboy magazine.

HeartStrings is a charity dedicated to assisting children in overcoming adversities by expression through music and the Arts. This HeartStrings benefit was for the Kids Rock Free campaign. The opening bid on this at the auction in 2000 was $5000.00.

A total of 30 Corona USA made Stratocasters were donated by Fender and then presented by HeartStrings to various celebrities to paint and return. The custom 1-of-1 Fender Stratocasters, all hand painted by the celebrities were then auctioned at the Hollywood and Beverly Hills Hard Rock Cafe's to benefit HeartStrings; where many sold for over 10k !
The tremolo cover attached to the back of the guitar commemorates the event and this as a 1/1 guitar. Ms Belafonte signed the front portion with the date 2000.

This is a great sounding and playing professional grade instrument, and also very collectible "Art" with huge investment potential !

Studio Rack Case (Formerly Owned by Green Day) - $750 (NE Minneapolis)

Hello, I am selling my empty studio rack that was owned by BillieJoe Armstrong of Green Day. I have a certificate of authenticity as seen in the pictures. This is a huge rack, I honestly am not sure how many units it is, but its perfect for any commercial or home studio who uses analogue gear. The rack case also has 4 fans on the top, one of them rattles so I have it unplugged currently, but its a very simple replacement if you wish to fix this. It does not affect the actual unit itself. The unit has 2 sides that open that are locked, I do not have the key for these two. However, the lock on the glass door also has a different lock on it that I DO have the key for. This is a great deal on a very cool unit with a whole ton of rock n roll history behind it.

Rist Tele - Les Paul Hybrid Workhorse Showhorse - $1400 (Woodbury)

Roman Rist Showhorse Workhorse Max Gibson - Fender hybrid Guitar

Handmade Telecaster - Les Paul hybrid by legendary luthier Roman Rist. Roman Rist was a student of Gil Yaron and a famous LA guitar maker on the 80s and 90s.

Guitar is Tele shaped, but the old-growth mahogany body is radiused and contoured like a Strat body, not slab-style like a Tele- this makes it very comfortable to play.

The chunky maple neck with highly-figured rosewood fretboard is finished in true oil and feels like bare wood sanded perfectly smooth. Features the Rist logo on the front and Roman Rist signature and 2009 date and serial number on the back of the headstock. Gibson 24.75” scale with 12” radius. Has new, Gotoh top-of-the-line SDS510 locking tuning pegs. Pickups are Lollar J-Street Tele bridge and Lollar Mini Humbucker neck. Callaham Tele bridge with lower lip cutout and compensated vintage-style brass saddles.

The guitar is a rock machine and very fun to play with lots of character. It’s professionally set up and plays great. Includes a hardshell case and matching black/burgundy Itallia leather strap with Schaller straplocks.

Please note the guitar has its share of nicks, bumps, swirls, checking, bruises etc… so look over pics carefully for your assessment of its condition. I’ve tried to capture all aspects of the guitar in the pics, but if there are additional pics you’d like to see, or questions you’d like to ask, please do so.

2020 Knaggs Kenai - $5000 (Como Park)

2020 Kenai. I’ve had it a few weeks and it hasn’t yet spoken to me. They’re supposed to be leagues beyond PRS, but in my experience, that is not the case. There’s some “orange peel” texture in parts of the heel finish that I don’t care for; it came from the factory that way (I don’t believe PRS would’ve let a guitar out the door that way). It’s got Seymour Duncan “Candy” pups in it (Eric Steckel’s answer to the 1960 PAF. He told me it was a reverse engineer-based wind and build). I’ve got maybe 90 minutes play time here, probably less. Open to trades, but it’s less than likely. Happy to provide additional pics or videos. If I don’t sell it, I’ll likely ask the builder to amend the finish on it and hold onto it for awhile; maybe I’ll fall in love someday. In the interim, it’ll be posted to CL plus marketplace. If I do sell it, it’ll go to another high end PRS.

I put this one together about 3 years ago and have had a lot of fun playing this guitar, the guitar plays great and the pickup switching options truly set this one apart from the rest, this guitar sounds great distorted however you can truly appreciate the versatility, tonal variations and nuances when playing thru a somewhat clean amp.

This guitar is not for sale, it's only meant to inspire guitar geeks, freaks and nerds!

Custom Short Scale Stratocaster Guitar (Naked Oil Finish)

Here I have something incredibly hard to sell. A true labor of love that I’ve spent countless hours and dollars on.

I have become an endorsed artist and no longer able to keep using my totally custom, incredible guitar. It’s been a real battle trying to decide whether or not to keep it. I’ve given it about two years of thought and due to COVID related financial issues, I will sell this one of a kind Instrument.

I will give you ALL the details of this incredible instrument so you know exactly what you’re getting. If you have any questions or concerns email, call, message or whatever you’d like.

Also here is a link to a little pick up test video I made this week. https://youtu.be/1i5znaXG0q0

So I’ll start off by saying this instrument has been put together, wired, and fretwork done by the best Massachusetts has to offer. Jon Mouradian put the guitar together, designed the pickups, and did the wiring. Richard Stanley did the fretwork. You can look these guys up, but Jon does some of the finest work in states, he tours with famous acts as a guitar tech as well. Richard Stanley is a master guitar Luthier and literally worked on Hendrix’s guitars. He’s been around forever and is the most detail oriented person I’ve ever met. He is also the most expensive luthier I’ve ever met...

Jon’s pickups are voiced based on 54’s. Very clear, chimey, and bell like tone. Low output, so they are very clean and like pedals very much. I’ve compared them to fender custom shop 54’s, Lollars, Don Mares, and others and they stand up to/arguably beat out many of them. Of course pick ups are completely subjective, but the quality is there.

The wiring is custom, but a somewhat common layout. Rather than volume, tone, tone. The third tone knob is a blend knob. Allowing you to blend in the neck and bridge together on the front and back positions, and to turn on all three pickups In the 2 and 4 positions. So essentially you have all possible pick up combinations and the ability to blend them to one side or the other more or less to taste.

All hardware is high quality Gotoh. The body is a Warmoth. A beautiful flamed maple top on an Alder Body with a nice black binding. It is rubbed with Tung Oil to protect the wood and give it a little shine yet retaining the smooth feel and “Naked Blonde” Look as I call it. The pick guard/knobs/hardware are aged slightly. I think it looks sexy but not too beat up.

The Neck is a Warmoth and the Specs are listed below. Richard Stanley did all the fretwork, cut the nut, and aligned the bridge on the body for perfect Intonation. The short scale makes playing this thing a breeze and the naked finish on the back is soft and wonderful feeling. No stickiness at all. You could add oil to the neck if you wanted to shine/darken it to bring out the flame even more but the natural oils from your hands will do the work for you overtime.

Specs:

Style: Warhead
Construction: Gibson® Scale (24-3/4") Conversion
Orientation: Right Handed
Neck Wood: Roasted Flame Maple
Fingerboard Wood: Roasted Flame Maple
Nut Width: 1-11/16"
Back Shape: 59 roundback
Fret Size: 6150
Tuner Ream: Vintage Style (11/32")
Radius: Straight 10"
Scale: 24-3/4" Conversion
Fret #: 22
Mounting Holes: Standard 4 Bolt
GraphTech White TUSQ XL - Standard Nut
Inlays: No Inlay
Side Dots: Black Side Dots
Finish: No Finish

I will ship it in a MONO (that’s right) gig bag. Which costs about 250 new, so you have something to carry this around in to match the guitar. I want to stick to this price initially please no low ball offers. All the work and parts that went into this guitar cost an embarrassingly large amount.

This handmade beauty is made from quality tone wood. It nails the "brown" sound. It was not my number one but I certainly hit the stage with it a few times. In all honesty, while it plays and functions as a guitar should it is probably more of a conversation piece and wall hanger than your best gigging instrument.

RARE 1ST YR GIBSON HOWARD ROBERTS FUSION GUITAR W/OVATION ACOUSTIC P/U - $4,000 (Saint Petersburg)

make / manufacturer: GIBSON
model name / number: HR FUSION
RARE 1ST YR 1979 GIBSON HOWARD ROBERTS FUSION GUITAR W/ OVATION -ADAMAS BRIDGE ACOUSTIC PICK UP

FIRST YEAR FOR THE GIBSON BIRDS EYE STRAP PINS
FIRST YEAR FOR THE GIBSON CRANK TUNERS
FIRST YEAR FOR THE GIBSON FINE TUNING BRIDGE KNOBS
INCLUDES ORIGINAL GIBSON DELUXE CASE WITH INTERIOR SATIN COVER & COMBO LOCKS W/ MANUAL

INCLUDED IN THE SALE ;
1 NEW IN BOX GIBSON CRANK TUNERS NEVER USED VALUED AT $700
1 ORIGINAL GIBSON CHROME ADJUSTABLE BRIDGE
1 DELUXE GIBSON CASE
1 HOWARD ROBERTS FUSION GUITAR SERIAL # 82630061 MADE IN USA

THIS IS A UNIQUE ONE OF A KIND GUITAR ... READ ON...

I SPECIAL ORDERED THIS HOWARD ROBERTS FUSION IN 1979 BEFORE THEY WERE EVEN AVAILABLE IN MUSIC STORES! WHY? BECAUSE IT WAS THE FIRST JAZZ 'FUSION' F HOLE ARCH TOP HOLLOW BODY TO HAVE A SOLID ASH WOOD BEAM RUNNING DOWN THE CENTER OF THE BODY THRU THE PICKUPS AREA, GIVING THE H.R. MUCH MORE SUSTAIN AND TONE QUALITIES , WITH THE SMALLER SIZE OF A LES PAUL (SLIGHTLY LARGER) WITHOUT THE WEIGHT.

CUSTOM FEATURES: I HAD A 1981 OVATION ADAMAS - THE ELECTRONICS WENT OUT - WHEN I CONTACTED OVATION THEY SENT ME ALL THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPLACE ALL THE ELECTRONICS INCLUDING THE STEREO BRIDGE /TAILPIECE PICK UP. I DIDN'T NEED TO REPLACE THE P/U SO I DECIDED TO SEE IT IT WOULD FIT ON MY GIBSON.
THE OVATION P/U HAS 2 HOLES IN THE ENDS OF THE P/U ASSEMBLY. THESE LINED UP PERFECTLY WITH THE GIBSON BRIDGE PINS. SO AFTER FITTING THE P/U TO THE H.R BRIDGE AND TRYING IT OUT, I DECIDED TO DO A SEMI PERMANENT INSTALL WITH A 1/4" JACK AND A VOLUME KNOB. I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT MAKING ANY PERMANENT ALTERATONS TO MY $1700 GIBSON - SO I MANAGED TO CAREFULLY INSTALL THE JACK AND VOLUME POT IN THE F HOLE SO IT COULD EASILY BE REMOVED IN THE FUTURE AND NOT EFFECT ITS VALUE. NOTE THAT I USED A MATCHING GIBSON KNOB FOR THE VOLUME POT. I COVERED THE TOP SURFACE OF THE ADAMAS P/U WITH ALUMINUM FOIL TO MAKE IT PICK UP BETTER AND MAKE IT LESS DETECTABLE. NEAT HUH?

WELL NEEDLESS TO SAY, I LOVED THIS ELECTRIC / ACOUSTIC COMBINATION SO MUCH I SOLD THE ADAMAS AND NEVER LOOKED BACK. AT THE TIME I WAS GIGGING OUT EVERY DAY AND CARRYING 2 GUITARS ALONG WITH AS MUCH EQUIPMENT AS A 4 PIECE BAND AS A ONE MAN BAND. AT THE TIME -1982- NO ONE HAD OFFERED AN ELECTRIC/ ACOUSTIC GUITAR. YES THERE WERE ACOUSTIC / ELECTRICS LIKE MY OVATION - BUT NO ELECTRIC/ ACOUSTIC GUITARS. THIS COMBO ALLOWED ME TO CARRY ONLY ONE GUITAR TO MY GIGS.

WITH THIS COMBO YOU CAN HAVE 100% ALL ELECTRIC SOUND WITH ALL ITS VARIATIONS OF THE HUMBUCKERS ...OR YOU CAN HAVE 100% ACOUSTIC SOUND OF AN OVATION. OR YOU CAN HAVE ELECTRIC WITH A LITTLE ACOUSTIC SOUND MIXED IN OR MAINLY ACOUSTIC SOUND WITH VARYING AMOUNTS OF ELECTRIC GIBSON SOUND MIXED IN. IMAGINE THE INCREDIBLE THOUSANDS OF VARIATIONS OF SOUND WITH EFFECTS THROWN IN? WHEN I PLAYED WITH OVERDRIVE FUZZ TONE WITH SOME ACOUSTIC MIXED IN (OR VICE VERSA) , MY AUDIENCE WAS AMAZED AND GUITAR PLAYERS WOULD ASK ME 'HOW DID YOU GET THAT SOUND?"

I ORDERED THIS GIBSON SPECIFICALLY WITH THE SUNBURST FINISH. I ALSO ORDERED THE 1ST YEAR "CRANK" TUNER HEADS. GIBSON FORGOT TO INSTALL THEM SO THEY SENT ME A NEW IN BOX SET. I HAVE NEVER USED THEM - AND HAVE INCLUDED THIS EXTREMELY RARE SET OF TUNER HEADS WITH THIS LISTING. I VALUE THESE AT $700 ALONE. THESE ARE A GREAT ADDITION TO THE COLLECTIBILITY FACTOR OF THIS SUPER RARE GIBSON HOWARD ROBERTS FUSION.

DO NOT CONFUSE THIS 1ST YR DOT NECK MODEL WITH THE LATER HR FUSION MODELS THAT IMO COPIED THE IBANEZ GEORGE BENSON MODEL WITH A DIFFERENT TAIL PIECE AND GOLD HARDWARE. THE IBANZEZ WAS A HOT SELLER- AND IMO GIBSON SOLD OUT TO TRY TO COMPETE WITH IBANEZ.

INCLUDED IN THE SALE ;
1 NEW IN BOX GIBSON CRANK TUNERS NEVER USED VALUED AT $700
1 ORIGINAL GIBSON CHROME ADJUSTABLE BRIDGE

2007 Larrivee L-09 40th Anniversary Commemorative Acoustic Guitar - $2,500

condition: excellent
make / manufacturer: Larrivee
model name / number: L-09 40th Anniversary
2007 Larrivee L-09 40th Anniversary Commemorative
Very Good to Excellent condition - 9/10

Asking $2500

This very limited and special run was released by Jean Larrivee to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of his company. Sam Ash was given the exclusive on the sale of this commemorative guitar. Only 60 made! How's that for rare?

Yes, it's an L-09, but it's so much more. Also, includes the following:
Original (6-latch!) Hard Shell Case. It's a substantial BEAST!

Special Edition "JCL" headstock inlay which has appeared on only a very few special runs.

Jean Larrivee signature inlay on 12th Fret (as far as I know this is the only run that has ever had this inlay)

Black Tuner Knobs
Flame Maple Binding

Just simply a beautiful looking, beautiful playing and beautiful sounding guitar which has "opened up" wonderfully!

I have too many guitars, and I promised my wife I'd let some of my babies go, since I rarely play anymore, so I've got all of my guitars on sale. Frankly, if this one doesn't sell, I'll rejoice! I have 3 Larrivees in my stable and this one is easily my favorite.

Run-of-the-mill Larrivee L-09's in this condition typically run $2000 to north of $2500. New run-of-the-mill Larrivee L-09's have MSRP's of $3400, and street values of $2600 new. But this 40th Anniversary edition is for the collector-player. I'm sacrificing, but it's yours for $2500! In the years I have owned this guitar, I have only seen TWO 40th Anniversary models ever offered for resale! People DO NOT let these go once they get their hands on one, and I doubt you will either.

When you're ready to jump on this, we'll MEET AT MY LOCAL POLICE STATION so we can complete the CASH ONLY transaction FACE-TO FACE. DELIVERY IS NOT AVAILABLE! NOT INTERESTED IN TRADES!

Please leave your name and phone number when you email, or I won't reply. Thanks for looking.

Looking for a Hamer Explorer that I sold to a music store in early 2002 - $123,456 (Minneapolis)

https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/msg/d/minneapolis-looking-for-hamer-explorer/7262759098.htmlhaha missed that one, good stuff

make / manufacturer: Hamer
model name / number: Explorer

Hi. I’m looking for a Hamer Explorer that I sold to a musicgoround in Minneapolis around 2002. Sadly, I don’t even have a picture of the thing. But the picture I posted here is relevant — I had an artist paint my Hamer’s body with the negative colors of the American flag, which they did pretty well. The sides, back and neck stayed stock (clear coat over whatever wood was the stock wood that year). I had also installed a Seymore Duncan George Lynch Screamin’ Demon pickup in the bridge, and a Seymore Duncan ‘59 in the neck. Locking tuners were also installed. I’m pretty sure it had a hard case too.

I loved this thing when I bought it around 1999, and I planned out exactly what I was gonna do with it for a while, and then it actually took a long time to execute everything, and then I started playing drums in a band and...well, time makes fools of us all. I obviously regret selling it, but I was young and needed rent money. Stupid. The dude at musicgoround or wherever was overjoyed when I came in.

Listen, if you have this thing and you know you’ll never sell it, I understand. Contact me anyway. I want to know what it’s been up to for the last 20 years. I would absolutely love to see pictures. And hey if your friend has it, it’s ok to rat them out — I’m not gonna hassle them too hard for it. Or even if you SAW it once. I’d love to hear. I’d just love to know that it didn’t end up in a dumpster or something. Or if you do have it — maybe we could work out a trade? I got some cool shit.

Get at me.

Tom Anderson Bobcat - $2,800 (Osseo)

https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/msg/d/osseo-tom-anderson-bobcat/7334026247.html

Bobcat is an Anderson guitar through and through, and as such every outrageous Anderson attribute is soundly intact and at your beck and call: Smooth and fast, Bobcat's buttery playability is just effortless to play and bend, for as far as you would like to push it. Unbelievably resonant, Bobcat rings seemingly forever, even unplugged. One chord and you will know how big, how vibrant, how full and how in tune a guitar can actually be.

Unique 3-on-a-side headstock with nearly straight string pull renders unparalleled tuning ease and stability while offering a much stronger neck to headstock union.

Encircling the entire back circumference of the body is a smooth, soft cut radius for next to body comfort. It is fantastic to hold Bobcat close. Hand selected, kiln dried mahogany means Bobcat's overall weight is less than you'd expect from this style of instrument. Just so nice to strap on and play all night long. Uniquely styled lower horn takes its styling cue from our Raven model. Rounded, shortened and deeper cut, it splays slightly outward to noticeably grant easier access to the highest regions of the fretboard and balances Bobcat’s center of gravity nicely when sitting to play. No sliding off the leg for Bobcat, just sit, plant it and play, comfortably.

Countersunk bridge, tailpiece and pickup rings look so, so, so cool and provide a more natural angle for the picking hand and wrist to contact the string plane, makes picking a more effortless motion.8 hum-free sounds from a simple and traditional 3-way selector and your choice of a two or three knob setup. With Push/Pull pots to cut power for each pickup individually. The addition of an optional VA Boost will multiply the available tonal palette to 16. Lightweight Tune-o-matic style bridge is standard and wonderful to play, but so is the optional vintage tremolo style bridge if you so desire.

Just a moment is all that will be needed to open your mind and heart, and once you hear how resonant and feel how easily Bobcat plays you will utterly lose your mind, in a good way!

Potentially interested in trades for similar value guitars, guitars plus cash, or amps. Just ask. Thanks for looking!

Well now I'm curious about how in-tune a guitar can actually be

There’s this dude in my area that has been trying to sell a 1967 Gibson ES-335 “husk” (ie just the body/neck/headstock/hardware sans electronics or pickups) for $3000 in fb, and it was “semi-professionally” refinished in a white that makes me think of Siegfried and Roy. I feel sad every time I see it.

Also it's kinda perfect that it's a Carr Mercury amp, because there's a relatively well-known guitar shop near the town I moved to that also has an NYC location that is honestly really nice and pleasant to go to but is totally the ultimate boomer bluesdad guitar mecca, and the first time I went in one of the guys tried to sell me on a Carr Mercury amp and I thought it sounded kind of shitty for the money tbqh. They also tried to hype me on this little thing called the Colby Lil Darlin - a 5w amp with a single volume knob and no other settings and it costs like $1200.

Guitar Sanctuary is that like a "no kill shelter" for troubled guitars where they are allowed to run free in an environment closely resembling their home's in the wild? Namely the basement of a suburban McMansion with a Bud Light neon sign and that like off-white deep pile carpeting that goes all the way to sliding glass door?

Wildwood is where I got my Jazzmaster - they sell some crazy stuff but I gotta say that service was top notch (for a guitar priced at whatever the USA-made Fenders were going for then, not custom shop or anything). They did a setup with NYXL strings that was as good as I could get locally even after shipping.

if ya wanna be a Tone Guru, you gotta eat right, exercise and take your Tone Capsules every day!

For Sale: 2 - 2013 & 2015 Fender Deluxe Roadhouse Stratocasters - Sonic Light Blue and Vintage Olympic Yellow include nice Padded Gig Bags.

Sonic Blue Strat - Pickups have been upgraded with the Kinman Blues Set Pickups (exact pickups Bonnie Raitt uses), for Great Sustain and an Aged Sound, with Zero Hum, and for a Ripping Soulful Sound. Guitar is in Mint / Excellent Condition! Pickups were Professionally installed (at St. Paul Guitar Repair) after I purchased the guitar, which cost an additional $299.99 for the pickups alone, + the sales tax, and another $85.00 to swap out the original pickups, which is the reason I am selling this guitar for more money. These guitars can generally be purchased from $500 - $750 or so online (i.e. Reverb.com), but they are likely not modified with more expensive pickups as mine are, and if they were, those guitars would likely be in the same price range, or possibly more. Too get the best sound out of any guitar, pickups are the first step to getting there normally, which costs more money. I'm not making any money by selling either of these guitars, I just want to get back the money I have invested in them.

This pickup set is slightly less aggressive, warmer, rounder Aged-Strat*- sound, with a slightly milder attack than the Impersonator series set in clean mode and breaks into crunch more easily. The Alnico magnets have slightly less brightness/presence ,,, with medium strong output. The Kinman Blues Pickup set is also great for overdrive sounds with 'clarity and TONE' with Zero-Hum. An evergreen favorite with players all around the world. It is also essential to use low capacitance cable(s), to get the incredible performance for these pickups.

These specific pickups are for the more serious players, as this is the closest it gets to the "Real Deal" blues guitar sound, but again, that is a personal choice also.

Here is the link to the Kinman Blues Set Pickups installed in the Sonic Blue Guitar:

https://kinman.com/model-products.php?pid=4&products=Stratocaster&linegroup=yes&modelid=23&model=Blues+set&group=Named%20Sets

If your looking for anything close to what I have, you will likely have to pay more, as most sellers are looking to make a profit. I just want to get my money back, with the extra upgrades I have put into them, that is all..

or this guitar if you choose:

2013/2014 Vintage Olympic Yellow Fender Deluxe Strat - Excellent to "Mint Condition", which also includes the the "Texas Special Custom Shop Pickups" (for that Billy Gibbons ZZ Top "Gritty Texas Sizzle"), Alder Body and Maple Neck. Played very little and has lots of fret life left too. This Deluxe Roadhouse Stratocaster 2013/2014 model, has a creamy vintage yellow finish, and the neck is also in excellent shape, which has no dings or nicks. The Roadhouse Deluxe Specs pair exceptionally well with the Texas Special Custom Shop pickups, and with the S-1 switch and active preamp, it gives the guitar a wide variety of sounds. This specific Olympic Vintage Yellow color darkens over time, which is normal, which gives it a darker vintage appearance over time, which is exactly the same as the Yngwie Malmsteen and Ritchie Blackmore reissue finishes too!

I am in the process of selling off a few of my guitars, as my band has decided to call it quits and go our separate ways.

Guitars can be sold separately, or together as a pair @ $1700.00, so I am actually giving the buyer a better deal to purchase both guitar together, so I can make additional room/space, and possibly purchase a high end guitar at some point.

$1050.00 for the Sonic Blue Strat alone.
$950.00 for the Olympic White Strat alone.

If either of these "Mint Condition" guitars can be found cheaper elsewhere, (with the upgraded Custom Shop Texas Pickups or Bonnie Raitt Pickups), I will beat that price by $50.00!!!

Remember, there's no need to buy new, when slightly used will do!!!

in fairness, St. Paul Guitar Repair is an excellent shop

Crate is most definitely not a boutique amp builder however this one is not your average crate!

The box is a ground-up rebuild and is constructed from solid dovetail birch. It's resonant and gorgeous! The handle is 1/2 inch pipe 100% the real deal. The speakers are the Original Celestion G12s. It was made in the USA about 1982 so think early metal. I am not your weekend CL'er This is my personal amp.

I had that amp. I bought with all I had to spare in 1992, and played it for years though I was never thrilled with the sound. One summer day, hauling it down cement steps, as the bassist was ready to pick me up for practice, I slipped. I was wearing shorts. Knowing I had no way to repair or replace it, my body made the split second decision to grip it tightly and hold it upright as my kneecaps were sanded down sliding over the last six steps. I was able to rest the amp on the sidewalk safely, then rolled over and let my knees gush blood.

Later, I gigged with it when my subsequent better amp was in the shop. Bad gig. Lent it out to the drummer's wife for her new band, and she immediately returned it 'cause she hated the sound. About 8 years ago lent it to my daughter's friend, and her house burned to the ground. RIP Crate 250.

I guess that counts as some kind of mojo.

Carvin Bolt USA Made -Reputations matters! - $450

Plays like Butta! Options include birdseye board, aged swamp ash body, Locking Tuners, Wilkinson floating bridge. $450 is a steal for a USA-made strat. Excellent shape, No case. I have owned stratss from Masterbuilders John Suhr, Sadowsky, Fessler to name a few. Is this one as good? Absolutely not. Those are 4-6K guitars! -That would be a ridiculous claim. I will say it's easily a match for any USA fender or G&L for less than half the price.

This guitar was hand-finished and set up by me. Come see, play it etc. Carvin is now Kiesel and they no longer offer USA-Made CNC kits.

Price is firm

This is a custom built 2016 Fender Classic Series 60s Jazzmaster Lacquer Rosewood fretboard neck paired with an MJT Closet Clean Relic Lacquer Alder body in Lake Placid Blue finish. Admittedly relics aren't normally my thing but a number of things lined up where the world seemed to be telling me to build one and the results far exceeded my expectations. I had recently acquired the neck which appeared to have some light relic'ing around the headstock but the fretboard and frets as well as the back of the neck were still in excellent condition. Shortly after I came across the body and won on eBay and right after that the naturally worn G&G hard case so it all came together rather quickly.

If you've followed me over the past few of years you know how much I love Jazzmasters and "Offset" Fenders in general so this was probably inevitable. For those of you skeptical or wary of "Partscasters" I'll stop you right there and assure you that this one consists of the highest quality components and care with attention to detail and setup. As my feedback shows and past customers would expect, this guitar is no different and held to the same high standards. Please read further for all the details as it is well worth your time so you know exactly what you're getting:

I love nods to tradition but am in no way a purist and always appreciate subtle modern touches. Spec wise, especially with the 7.25" vintage radius and frets, it stays pretty true to vintage specs. The body is very much a traditional Jazzmaster style body with the tremolo in the original location which is further back from the bridge, unlike many of the "Modified" or "Player" series Fender Jazzmasters where the tremolo is moved closer to the bridge and usually paired with an Adjusto-Matic or Tune-O-Matic style bridge (and a mismatched radius to that of the fretboard!)

Condition wise, aside from the intentional light to medium relic'ing to the body, headstock and light oxidation to the hardware, this guitar is in excellent condition. There's almost no fret wear and the back of the neck is free from bumps and dings as well the usual worn/stripped finish (I'll leave that up to you).

These traditional and vintage style "Offsets" from Fender sit on a great foundation, but I'm really surprised how they sell any of them because they're setup so horribly from the factory and buzz like crazy with anything less than a set of 12s (I know, they're absolutely gorgeous looking guitars, so probably form over function in most cases. Even the American made offsets have this same problem because of the same original location of the tremolo (further back), vintage style floating bridge and the lack of break angle on them. This on top of some mediocre hardware and electronics choices from the factory, I decided I would overhaul many of these issues so you can enjoy this guitar with a set of 10s and not have to string it up with bridge cables or use one of those Buzz Stops that not only changes the look of the guitar but the feel and tone as well. These modded ones of mine will hold their own against American models any day of the week.

Please read further to see the list of upgrades as well as how the guitar was setup:

$1999 marked down from $2750. Or you could just buy a new American Original Jazzmaster from Guitar Center for $2200.

Flash in the Pan, discarded Guitar? (Davenport)

Sad old relic of what once glittered.
Sum of it's parts:
String-thru paulownia body, sealed and leveled but bad looking paint from old cans. Several coats of clear lacquer, nonetheless. Got my money back for the old paint from hobby lobby. Their bad after all.
Maple/Rosewood neck of no particular quality, tinted and lacquered for affect. Lev/crown/pol med/jumbo? frets. Bone nut. Logo is waterslide under a bunch of lacquer. 25-1/2 scale.
Standard, easy to find, single coil, tele bridge pickup and bridge. Spanky alnico I think.
Pickguard & mini humbucker neck pickup from GFS, wired as series hum only. Swanky.
Standard CTS under the chrome plate. Never cranky.
Actually it's new and created and assembled in Davenport, USA. And is one of a kind. That's the expensive part.
Plus it plays great. Setup for 10's. Action at about 1.25mm at the 12th. Can't get it lower without some buzz. Please try tho. Color is the azure underbelly of air force one.
Offers under 3,817.44 Chinese Yuan will be pointless. Shout out low ball offers will be scorned.
Check it out by appointment, or stop by if you know who I am and where I live. Long live 45.

MARTIN D-45S AUTHENTIC 1936
by Martin
$49,999.00

DESCRIPTION
Here to remind you why you fell in love with Martin in the first place, the new Authentics are constructed the old way - with hide glue, throughout, and historically-accurate detailing confirmed by using a CAT scan machine located at the Smithsonian Institution. The D-45S Authentic 1936 is based on a large body D-45 located in the Martin museum, and features Brazilian rosewood back and sides, an Adirondack spruce top, period-correct "45" Authentic style appointments, and includes gold tuners with hand-engraved butterbean knobs. Martin’s new Vintage Tone System (VTS) is employed for the top and braces. The new Martin Vintage Tone System (VTS) uses a unique recipe that is based on the historic torrefaction system. The VTS acts much like a time machine in which Martin can target certain time periods and age the top/braces to that era. This focused method allows Martin’s craftsmen and women to recreate not only the pleasing visual aesthetics of a vintage guitar, but also reproduce the special tones previously reserved for vintage instruments.

Oh great, I finally get to post one here! Took me a while to find the thread title.

Dated in 2016, this guitar is not for the faint at heart. She's a true shredding dream! The only blemishes on the guitar is a few light scratches on the front as well as some buckle rash on the back and a few of the saddles on the Floyd Rose trem have blackened which is common for some reason with these. Actual retail description is as follows:

Unlock your full potential as a player with the innovative Jackson Pro Series Soloist™ SL2Q MAH, the final word in high-tech guitar design. A high-performance evolution of the electric guitar, this ergonomic instrument opens up new horizons of playability, resetting the bar of what’s possible in guitar design.
Premium features include a mahogany body with a quilt maple top and a one-piece through-body maple neck with scarf joint and graphite reinforcement rods to provide stiffness and high stability, guarding against temperature- and humidity-induced bending and warping. Its 12”-16” compound radius ebony fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets is designed for highly technical lightspeed playing—more curved by the nut for comfortable chording, it flattens out as you move up the neck (with hand-rubbed oil back finish) for increasingly fast playing speed and wide bends without fretting out.

Chosen specifically for their complementary sound, a pair of modern Seymour Duncan® Distortion humbucking pickups drives this guitar’s voice, combining for highly balanced, flexible tone, with plenty of high output for pristine cleans and snarling distortion. Single volume and tone controls shape the pickups’ output, which can be further refined with the three-way toggle switch for the precise voice required to bring your musical vision to life. Dive and soar expressively with the Floyd Rose® 1000 Series double-locking tremolo system, recessed for pick hand comfort and providing laser-accurate intonation and ultra-stable tuning.
All the famous Jackson appointments are offered with the SL2Q MAH —black nickel hardware, piranha tooth inlays, Jackson-branded sealed die-cast tuning machines and traditional pointed 6-in-line matching headstock.

DIRECT MOUNT SEYMOUR DUNCAN® TB-6/SH-6N DISTORTION HUMBUCKING PICKUPS
The powerful TB-6 trembucker was built for the most aggressive of styles—punk, gothic, thrash, hard rock and heavy metal. Ideal for dropped tunings, this high-output pickup delivers punch and raw, distorted rock sounds. The SH-6 Distortion neck pickup is perfect for driving - or overdriving - your amp's input, yielding a ton of crunch while maintaining clarity.

https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/wsh/msg/d/saint-paul-reverend-guitar/7591542047.html

I purchased this Reverend Buckshot in September of 2022. It's a 2021 model that was brand new when I bought it. The owner of the shop told me the founder of Reverend Guitars started in his repair shop. I bought it because I couldn't find the Nash model I wanted and my research got me excited about this one. I played it for a total of about 3 hours. 2.5 hours in rehearsal and then at the Blues Saloon for a half hour at the Road to Memphis competition. Many complimented me on its tone and said it sounded like a woody horn. That's because I took full advantage of the unique bass contour knob which can make the single coil bridge pickup sound like fat single tele pickup or a woody P90. Just after that gig the Nash model I'd been looking for popped up for sale so I bought it. It's a better gigging guitar only from the standpoint that it's already beat up and worn. I've kept the Reverend as a back up but have now found an amp I'm after so have decided to sell it. The Reverend has a roasted neck with locking tuners and is both light and super comfortable to play and wear. Great price and it comes with the gig bag I got it in along with the Reverend case candy. $750 is a great deal. Thanks for looking!

Many complimented me on its tone!!!

you have to keep in mind that that's only because he took full advantage of the unique bass contour knob which can make the single coil bridge pickup sound like fat single tele pickup or a woody P90

In The Breakfast Club, don't mess with the bull, or you'll get the horns. In the Blues Saloon, do mess with the unique bass contour knob, and you'll get the horns.

Ace Peace and Doves Guitar strap 1960's V. Rare - $399 (Alexandria Minnesota ------=)

https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/msg/d/alexandria-ace-peace-and-doves-guitar/7591873451.html

This is a real 1960's -1970's Ace Peace and Doves Black guitar strap. This one was rarely used and shows some minor wear and some thread loss and wear. The Color is bright and not dirty and the metal is very bright.. The leather ends are strong and not cracked it has a lot of life left in it. Terms are cash and you can get it in Alexandria or I can mail it to you if it is paid for. It is priced fair for such a fine example. Not a reissue And Black is the most desirable color without a doubt. If you want to see what the differences are between this and a reissue take a look online. Reissue black ones have Black ends Not white and the wording is different on reissues if all these things do not matter to you then a reissue might be what you need but the real thing cost money.. Peace my Friends !!!!

There's a company making relic versions of their studio gear - why does a compressor look like it was dragged behind a truck instead of sitting in a studio rack for 30 years? Who knows?!

D-Rock is a little creepy...

'89 Squier II Pearly-White Korean Case Queen - $300 (Plymouth, MN)

https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/msg/d/minneapolis-89-squier-ii-pearly-white/7603452824.html

Hold your breath, here she is. 1989 Squier II Made in Korea stratocaster. This beauty has slept her entire life in the peaceful confines of a velvety pitch black hard case.

There is no wear on this thing, my friend: no fret wear, no neck pocket finish cracks, no blemish anywhere. She is complete, and original.

After that slumber, however, she deserved some attention. I took this one apart, cleaned up the fret end sprout and polished the frets, F-One oiled the board, flushed out the electronic components, straightened out the neck (just a very small touch of forward bow - 4mm truss rod wrench, turns freely) restrung with D'Addario 9-42 gauge strings, and lovingly finished with a spray and wipe of Meguiar's auto detailer. Then plugged in and played Zeppelin's Since I've Been Loving You and cried a little in joy.

The pickups all read 8.5 KOhms resistance, which is a touch hotter than most strat single coils, which is nice. The action is set to a straight 2.0mm across the board, with plenty of adjustment at both the bridge and the truss rod to tweak to your taste.

Includes hard case in Excellent condition and with keys, whammy bar, and a tuner.

Cash only (Straight cash, Homie!)
No trades
No shipping

Peace:

NORDSTRAND NJ4 4 STRING VINTAGE JAZZ BASS PICKUPS - $80 (Minnetonka)

These were previously installed but weren’t to my taste.
$180 retail, yours for $80 cash.

This is a vintage style single coil pickup made with 60s era correct Heavy Formvar wire, alnico V magnets, and wound with a programmable CNC winder that simulates a vintage hand wound pattern. The combination of the HF wire in correspondence with the simulated hand wind produces the pickup's lowered resonant peak, which is the source of the hypnotizing ambrosia that is the NJ4's divine high end. Between its high and low end frequencies, this pickup produces a full-bodied sound that replicates the drive synonymous with 60s vintage tone.
