Well that's what i thought about the tucking-your-sheet-in-at-the-bottom poll!

Tracer Hand, Sunday, 21 October 2007 23:51 (eighteen years ago)

I left out an option - put on new socks, just for sleeping. Someone here must do that.

Tracer Hand, Sunday, 21 October 2007 23:52 (eighteen years ago)

anyone who wears their socks to sleep is fucked up. completely fucked up. exception being if you like live in the arctic or something.

s1ocki, Sunday, 21 October 2007 23:55 (eighteen years ago)

My guess is that most socks slide off before sleep, once erection subsides.

Consomelia Chisbreth-Vermeer, Sunday, 21 October 2007 23:57 (eighteen years ago)

This has been done before... I don't wear socks unless it's really cold & then I keep the previous day's socks on. There were some hygiene issues raised earlier, I think, but I don't go to bed, together or alone, to be hygienic.

Eyeball Kicks, Monday, 22 October 2007 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

you put on the PREVIOUS day's socks? do you file them away by day or something?

s1ocki, Monday, 22 October 2007 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

The night time is a time between times. You put on the previous day's socks by not removing the ones you have on.

Eyeball Kicks, Monday, 22 October 2007 00:04 (eighteen years ago)

WHOA.

s1ocki, Monday, 22 October 2007 00:04 (eighteen years ago)

Socks of the Day

rrrobyn, Monday, 22 October 2007 00:04 (eighteen years ago)

Having said that, if I do take them off, it being insufficiently freezing in the night time, and then want some socks on next morning, before showering, I will put on the previous day's selection. I will have filed them on the floor.

Eyeball Kicks, Monday, 22 October 2007 00:06 (eighteen years ago)

I will have filled them on the floor.

fuxxed :D

Just got offed, Monday, 22 October 2007 00:10 (eighteen years ago)

I will put on a clean pair of socks if it's unreasonably cold.

milo z, Monday, 22 October 2007 00:12 (eighteen years ago)

I don't get why anyone wouldn't wear socks to sleep. Do people enjoy having cold feet? I've worn socks to sleep all my life and didn't even realize until quite recently that this was considered odd, but all these hataz need to get off my jock, you know?

The Reverend, Monday, 22 October 2007 01:35 (eighteen years ago)

Uh, I have this thing called blankets. I have pretty nasty circulation so I put an extra blanket over my feet as well (although this is a symptom of being an aspie too, look it up!).

mh, Monday, 22 October 2007 01:50 (eighteen years ago)

I use a blanket and a comforter too, and putting an extra blanket over your feet is stupid, why not just wear socks?

The Reverend, Monday, 22 October 2007 01:54 (eighteen years ago)

There's no way I could sleep with socks on my feet. Nope. Even if I'm just having a quick kip, I take off my shoes and socks. Except on planes, where I just fall asleep regardless.

Jaq, Monday, 22 October 2007 02:01 (eighteen years ago)

Quite the opposite for me, I don't think I could sleep comfortably without.

The Reverend, Monday, 22 October 2007 02:03 (eighteen years ago)

Unless you sleep as naked as the day you were born, I don't understand how you could view sleeping in socks as weird.

The Reverend, Monday, 22 October 2007 02:05 (eighteen years ago)

I could never sleep with socks on. I like my feet to be cold when I sleep and often make sure they're sticking out of the covers.

ENBB, Monday, 22 October 2007 02:09 (eighteen years ago)

I like my feet to be cold when I sleep

MENTALIST

The Reverend, Monday, 22 October 2007 02:10 (eighteen years ago)

But hot feet = no sleep!

ENBB, Monday, 22 October 2007 02:12 (eighteen years ago)

That is why socks are THE WORST thing to wear in bed. The worst! Especially in a sleeping bag.

Abbott, Monday, 22 October 2007 02:14 (eighteen years ago)

I hate sleeping bags precisely because they're too confining and I can't stick my feet out! Wearing socks while using a sleeping bag would be madness!

ENBB, Monday, 22 October 2007 02:16 (eighteen years ago)

Haha. I don't think I've ever had hot feet in my life. I have no circulation whatsoever. If you cut me, I don't bleed. More to the point cold feet = no sleep!

xp: sleeping bags are kind of awful

The Reverend, Monday, 22 October 2007 02:16 (eighteen years ago)

Hahahahaha in this whole wide world I never thought I would hear someone say they liked the feeling of bare feet sticking out the bottom of the bed.

I can't sleep without socks. My feet feel weird and naked. And without fail, I always wake up if one of my socks falls off. And then I can't get back to sleep until I find it and put it back on.

Melissa W, Monday, 22 October 2007 03:02 (eighteen years ago)

That's the thing! It's the only article of clothing that's really prone to roll up or fall off, possibly interrupting your sleep. I guess it's a point of view thing, really. If I'm around home during the summer I take off my socks when I take off my shoes and tend to think my natural state is sockless, not socked.

mh, Monday, 22 October 2007 03:05 (eighteen years ago)

My natural state is socked and shoed. I take my shoes off to sleep, I take my socks off to shower. Otherwise I keep my feet protected against the elements. On second thought, I think I'm just flat out uncomfortable with the prospect of feet.

The Reverend, Monday, 22 October 2007 03:09 (eighteen years ago)

when it's hot (9 months) I sleep with my feet out of the covers
when it's cold (1 month) I sleep with clean socks
those other two months can go either way

milo z, Monday, 22 October 2007 03:09 (eighteen years ago)

sidenote: I hate going to people's houses where they expect you to take off your shoes. My feet are private, thank you. I wouldn't tell anyone coming into my place that they have to take off their pants.

The Reverend, Monday, 22 October 2007 03:11 (eighteen years ago)

You non-sockers probably have feet that stay within forty degrees of the prevailing temperature, don't you?

The Reverend, Monday, 22 October 2007 03:24 (eighteen years ago)

what are you implying.

s1ocki, Monday, 22 October 2007 03:26 (eighteen years ago)

That my feet are cold if it's 85 degrees?

The Reverend, Monday, 22 October 2007 03:26 (eighteen years ago)

why?

s1ocki, Monday, 22 October 2007 03:38 (eighteen years ago)

Good idea, I hadn't thought of that.

The Reverend, Monday, 22 October 2007 03:48 (eighteen years ago)

From the tucked or untucked sheets thread:

I tuck them in when I make the bed in the morning. Then once I get in bed for the night, I untuck the sheet by pulling at it with my feet so they can hang out in the breeze. I have a physiological condition that I refer to as "hot foot". Having them covered makes me extremely uncomfortable.

I actually went to the doctor recently and they had to poke me multiple times because they couldn't get any blood out of my veins.

Oh God I get this all the time, on average it take 2 appointments to get anything out of my veins and the nurse at our health centre has given up on me before and sent me to the hospital just for a sodding blood test.

I also wear socks in bed, I've never wondered if the two things were related before, but now...

V, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 01:14 (eighteen years ago)

i wear socks in bed, but i put on a pair just before sleep and throw 'em in the wash in the morning. socks are such a great pleasure to me that i change them 2-4 times each 24 hour cycle

remy bean, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 01:33 (eighteen years ago)

I sleep nude, and socks would just be ridiculous. But since I wear socks during the day, I like to change them as often as possible. When I was biking to work, I was wearing three or four pairs of socks a day, and it was heaven.

Oh God I get this all the time, on average it take 2 appointments to get anything out of my veins and the nurse at our health centre has given up on me before and sent me to the hospital just for a sodding blood test.

What does this mean, really? You have thick blood? Nurses/docs always have difficulty taking blood but because I have very shallow (?) veins. Once a nurse just sent me to another floor (with specialized nurses for taking blood tests) cause she couldn't do it.

I take my socks off. I don't find it "gross" if you keep'em on. I mean, shit, if you have cold feet, why not keep'em on instead of taking'em off and feeling uncomfortable?

SO OTM.

So much so that I do not deny myself the pleasure prior to leaving for work - I typically take my shoes off and switch to flip flops in the parking garage. I realize that this makes me similar to a girl who wears flip flops to work, only to change into "work shoes," but they have a good thing going.
