― Ed, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:05 (nineteen years ago)
I'd like to have come to this. Enjoy people! Break a leg to performers!*
*I'm taking that it's like actors? Otherwise, best of luck...
― kv_nol, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:12 (nineteen years ago)
who did the poster??? that is marvellous....
― stevie, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:12 (nineteen years ago)
Kate did.
― Ed, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:13 (nineteen years ago)
"to have come"? But it is in THE FUTURE!!!
ha ha, if you'd wanted to be really naughty, Ed, you could have done it as a poll, and then people could have voted for which band they were most excited about seeing. (Not that I could have picked, mind you.)
x-post thanks!
― Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:13 (nineteen years ago)
Yes, that's a great poster!
― Tom D., Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:17 (nineteen years ago)
I can't come to this, but I really wish I could. I hope it will be brilliant.
Stupid Ireland! Stupid sea in between me and ILX festival!

harness a walrus or a pair of porpoises for the trip.
― Ed, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:20 (nineteen years ago)
you should have singstar between bands.
― g-kit, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:20 (nineteen years ago)
why does the poster say it's an album?
― StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:21 (nineteen years ago)
Because there is AN ALBUM as well! it is the release party for the ILX comp! That was the point of it in the first place!
(but only if Ken C finishes his track in time.)
― Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:22 (nineteen years ago)
omigod, Singstar between bands - I will try to get Lisa to bring theirs!
(But I will NOT sing against her or AMP because I invariably harmonise with them, and therefore lose.)
ooooooooooooh! (xpost)
(and it's a great poster indeed, btw)
― StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:24 (nineteen years ago)
WAHT. i only suggested it because i thought you'd say no. i'd possibly consider coming to this if there were singstar.
― g-kit, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:24 (nineteen years ago)
Are tickets likely to be necessary?
― Colonel Poo, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:25 (nineteen years ago)
sorry for another stupid question, but what does the KMF right under its nose mean?
― StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:27 (nineteen years ago)
Me & the mister have train tickets now. Still got to get *actual* tickets... unless we can buy them on the door?
― emil.y, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:28 (nineteen years ago)
I've only just noticed the KMF... is it Kate's initials? A signature for the artwork?
― emil.y, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:30 (nineteen years ago)
What the??? Is Brixton in the middle of a maze or something?

― StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:33 (nineteen years ago)
OMGLMAO! KMF = Klaus M. Flanger?
― StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:34 (nineteen years ago)
There will definitely be tickets for ILX0rs on the door. However, if you are coming from far away, I would reccomend buying advance tix.
If Singstar means teh kit will come, we will have singstar.
Stan, those directions are wacky. Just get on the A23 from London and head south. Blenheim Gardens is the road before the prison. If you hit Brighton, you've gone too far.
KMF = KLAUS M. FLANGER, DO YOU SEE?!?!?
― Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:35 (nineteen years ago)
x-post.
If you are coming from within London and you are scared of South London, DON'T BE, it is really easy.
Take the Victoria Line to Brixton (no, you will not need a passport to go Sarf of the river) turn left out of the station and walk down to the second or third bus stop. Busses which will take you to the Windmill:
45, 59, 159, 133, 333, 250, 50, 109, 118 - anything that goes up Brixton Hill.
It's the third or fourth stop past Brixton Centre - there's a minimart and a funeral parlour on the corner.
― Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:37 (nineteen years ago)
Hehehe, are you signing everything as Klaus from now on? I like this. I imagine Klaus to have a lolrus moustache:
http://www.kosmikradiation.com/can-czukay.gif
― emil.y, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:39 (nineteen years ago)
I've written it down in my calendar and will be thinking about it until I know if I can make it - would be a great time to see a real life ilxor in the fle, well, clothes, since I haven't met any yet. :-)
― StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:40 (nineteen years ago)
That's Holger not Klaus!
― Tom D., Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:41 (nineteen years ago)
That is LOLger not Klaus, but yes. In fact, I think Klaus has a Lemmy.
(Man, I should have called myself LOLger.)
― Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:41 (nineteen years ago)
Klaus should do guest appearances with some of those acts, Timbaland/Dr.Dre style.
― StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:42 (nineteen years ago)
MC KMF in der Haus!l
― StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:43 (nineteen years ago)
Dada - krautrock factchecking R us.
(Actually, KMF is my user name at work - my middle initials are actually MC but 4 letters wouldn't fit.)
― Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:43 (nineteen years ago)
Ooh just before my birthday! I might might come if I can give Alice the slip somehow :)
― Archel, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:45 (nineteen years ago)
Don't you have family in Streatham Hill who can babysit her for the afternoon?
― Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:46 (nineteen years ago)
Blimey StanM - you live near me, I had no idea. FAP?
I think I'll be able to come to this - school nights are quite tricky at the moment but I'll see what I can do. I need to see the mighty Vietgrove if nothing else.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:55 (nineteen years ago)
Also, those directions will get you to the *actual* Windmill, not the pub, the Windmill.
― Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:56 (nineteen years ago)
bring alice archel!
― ken c, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:57 (nineteen years ago)
ken, should i come to this?
― g-kit, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:59 (nineteen years ago)
you should!
singstar, g-kit!
― ken c, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:00 (nineteen years ago)
you live near step 29 of my itinerary, I'm in Mechelen, Belgium :-/
― StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:02 (nineteen years ago)
Oh, that makes sense, then - it's trying to send you round the south London Circular. It is pretty much all one long road, it's just called a million different things. Ed would be better to consult on the art of driving there from Belgium as he has done it recently.
Really, you just want to get on the A23 which is the main artery from Brighton/the coast to London - the Windmill is just off the A23.
― Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:07 (nineteen years ago)
from belgium just take the train to waterloo and then get the bus.
― ken c, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:08 (nineteen years ago)
Or do what Ken C says. The 59 is your beast.
― Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:08 (nineteen years ago)
But Klaus Dinger doesn't have a lolrus moustache. And curiously enough, I have no photos of Klaus M. Flanger.
― emil.y, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:10 (nineteen years ago)
from belgium just take the train to waterloo and then get the bus
Which Waterloo tho?
― Tom D., Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:10 (nineteen years ago)
only the N59 goes to Waterloo in Belgium...
― CarsmileSteve, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:15 (nineteen years ago)
lol
― StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:16 (nineteen years ago)
I'm in London that weekend but I'll be on the train home by the time this starts. It'd be nice to see you all for a FAP on the Friday though.
― leigh, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:18 (nineteen years ago)
xxpost so THAT'S where i ended up when i fell asleep on the N59
― ken c, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:18 (nineteen years ago)
Yes, that would certainly explain why it took me 7 hours to get home from my work's xmas party last year.
― Colonel Poo, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:21 (nineteen years ago)
Man, I could WALK from Central London to Brixton in under 7 hours. In fact, I think it takes about 2.
― Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:29 (nineteen years ago)
Less than that I would have thought?

― CarsmileSteve, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:32 (nineteen years ago)
No, you'd be surprised. I had to walk from Holborn to just past Kennington on 7/7 and it took me nearly 2 hours. :-(
― Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:33 (nineteen years ago)
belgium is not in central london, kate
― ken c, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:33 (nineteen years ago)
x-post AWWWWWWW!!! THOSE TIXETS ARE AWESOMES!!!
I wonder if the Windmill will let us use them.
― Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:34 (nineteen years ago)
I was talking to Poo, Chu!
but Poo was talking to me!
― ken c, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:35 (nineteen years ago)
Who, you Chu?
― Tom D., Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:37 (nineteen years ago)

I DIDN'T THINK REDBULLDOZERS WERE ACOUSTIC. I THOUGHT THEY WERE HARDCORE OR SOMETHING.
― PJ Miller, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:55 (nineteen years ago)
i'm hardcore
― g-kit, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:59 (nineteen years ago)

That is like fred and his kazoo
― Ed, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:07 (nineteen years ago)
Yeah, they only had one, right? The McCartney one, the soppy one that sucked.
― Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:07 (nineteen years ago)
I can't actually remember what happened in the 7 hours before I got home after Xmas party, so I may well have been in Belgium for all I know.
― Colonel Poo, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:12 (nineteen years ago)
i don't think the red bull dozers will be all that acoustic actually!
― ken c, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:13 (nineteen years ago)
You had the chance to write your own description, and you missed the deadline! TYpical!
― Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:14 (nineteen years ago)
it's fine though - i like the description!
― ken c, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:15 (nineteen years ago)

― Mark G, Tuesday, 5 June 2007 07:33 (nineteen years ago)
A poke at the bands, I'm still looking for Amp bringing offers.
Mr G00blar can you bring your wee Vox? (I have an ulterior motive behind this, I'd like to play on it)
― Ed, Tuesday, 5 June 2007 07:54 (nineteen years ago)
Do you know if we are miking up guitar amps - that will help me decide what to bring?
Also what is the drum kit situation - I think someone said there is one there, so drummers to just bring snare, cymbals and hi-hat?
― Dr.C, Tuesday, 5 June 2007 08:18 (nineteen years ago)
And do we mike up the kit?
Sorry I haf never been to the Windmill and so don't know what is normal for that venue.
― Dr.C, Tuesday, 5 June 2007 08:21 (nineteen years ago)
Hey Rocktor C, do you chaps have a (myspace) or something so I can hear your 'soundz'? I have only just realised Fractured aren't playing so that shows how much I ever read the FIRST POST ON THREADS.
― Sarah, Tuesday, 5 June 2007 08:38 (nineteen years ago)
HAI GUYS i think u shd deffo mike up teh_kit
― g-kit, Tuesday, 5 June 2007 09:48 (nineteen years ago)
IIRC everything on stage is miced up. they have a nice big mixing board etc. etc.
they have basic drum kit, Drummers need to bring: cymbals, snare, kick pedal and hi-hat clutch.
G00blar at least will want to share.
― Ed, Tuesday, 5 June 2007 09:52 (nineteen years ago)
Sarah, read the first post on the thread, there is a url for the Rocktor's myspace.
i am aware there is the planning thread as well, but this tech talk is keeping things well bumped.

― Sarah, Tuesday, 5 June 2007 10:10 (nineteen years ago)
Also hooray, a new myspace friend!
Dr. C I swear that Fractured have played the Windmill, but maybe you weren't with them.
I'm fine with the techie talk here, so long as it keeps the thread bumped.
Also, I need to get on to the Payne sisters about their SingStar.
― Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 5 June 2007 10:42 (nineteen years ago)
Yes, we did, but they did it as a 4-piece cos I was on holiday.
― Dr.C, Tuesday, 5 June 2007 11:01 (nineteen years ago)
G'Morning. Sorry for lack of email response, Ed. Sure, I'll bring the Vox. Happy to let anyone use it of course.
― G00blar, Tuesday, 5 June 2007 11:03 (nineteen years ago)

― g-kit, Tuesday, 5 June 2007 12:17 (nineteen years ago)
Hey, the "rest of the world" were just as capable of getting off their arses and setting up local shows for their local ILX bands around the release date of the comp. Not my fault that they didn't!
― Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 5 June 2007 12:18 (nineteen years ago)

Kate / Ed, I got a note saying they've despatched a box of lolrusses, however the despatch address was Kates. So, this may mean they've sent them to the wrong place, or not.

oh man. no love for RBD in the article.
― ken c, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 13:19 (nineteen years ago)
Have people noticed the competition for free tickets?
― Ed, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 13:24 (nineteen years ago)
Find the most useless thread on ILX by 6pm to win.
it's not gonna take until 6pm
― Dr.C, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 13:27 (nineteen years ago)
How would one lay one's mitts upon a copy of all three volumes?
― kv_nol, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 13:27 (nineteen years ago)
that competition says ilm rather than ilx..
― ken c, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 13:29 (nineteen years ago)
but then it says ilm boardS... mmm maybe that includes sandpit ilm?
you don't need to win tickets, Ken
― Ed, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 13:55 (nineteen years ago)
"surging instrumental wig-out" robble
― tissp, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:01 (nineteen years ago)
i might try and win some for friends
― ken c, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:02 (nineteen years ago)
Could you win some copies of the CDs to send to me?
― kv_nol, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:06 (nineteen years ago)
(sorry for quick repeat of question. Aware in these post-bookmark days that things get overtaken v v quickly!)
Mark, How do I shot distribution to overseas? Did you have a plan?
― Ed, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:10 (nineteen years ago)
At this point I figure my presence will be symbolic.
― Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:11 (nineteen years ago)
Well, the basic plan was: See how many go at the fest, then we'll get the rest sent out to the people. Maybe make more if the first lot go quickly.
― Mark G, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:12 (nineteen years ago)
of course, it is all fairly academic as they are still 'Sorted in Hub'.
― Ed, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:14 (nineteen years ago)
Will copies be available of the first two? (Sorry for banging on and on)
Also, much appreciated all the effort Mark G, Ed and others. Only wish I could make it over to the shindig. Alas, lack of time off available means no chance for hungover monday flights.
― kv_nol, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:15 (nineteen years ago)
Would you like to be our dublin distribution partner?
― Ed, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:16 (nineteen years ago)
Distribution of the first two was done by someone else, who may well have copies still.
I did have both, but Vol2 seems to have gone a wandry. Should have been more careful, I'm on that one.
― Mark G, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:17 (nineteen years ago)
I'll happily supervise getting it to the Irish contingent if they're sent to me. Could be FAP and CD action ahoy. I'd get precise numbers if that was the case and get back to you.
Not to name names but Jel was offering copies a while ago...
― kv_nol, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:23 (nineteen years ago)
i'm on vol2 too!
― ken c, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:23 (nineteen years ago)
isn't Vol2 on slsk anyway?
― ken c, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:24 (nineteen years ago)
I don't slsk. I have teh phear of fileshare.
― kv_nol, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:27 (nineteen years ago)
what about ysi? maybe someone can si to y
― ken c, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:33 (nineteen years ago)
That would be most adjacent. Would someone be willing to yodel silly instrumentals at me?
― kv_nol, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:40 (nineteen years ago)
looks like i will have to leave at about 9.30 :( :( :(
― tissp, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:46 (nineteen years ago)
i have to leave at 7! :( : ( :(
going to see jarvis sing disney tunes :D : D :D
― ken c, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:47 (nineteen years ago)
i have to fight the diabolical evil of engineering works to get home
― tissp, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:48 (nineteen years ago)
Would a coach from VCS not be easier in that event?
― Ed, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:49 (nineteen years ago)
Hey! No one's gonna be around to see us!
― G00blar, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:50 (nineteen years ago)
We'll be there till the bitter end. (BTW the lumi like you, I was chatting with them earlier, you should badger them about a gig)
― Ed, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:51 (nineteen years ago)
(The lumi never got back to us after we sent a cd--besides can't really book gigs at mo because HAVE NO BASSIST OH NOES)
― G00blar, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:53 (nineteen years ago)
I'm not good with coaches, i have no idea where to get them from, whether i'll be able to get all the gear on board etc etc
xpost For the record I am very upset at missing gooblar
― tissp, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:53 (nineteen years ago)
i might actually come back to see you gooblar! (and also leave all my stuff at windmill so i don't have to lug all of it to the south bank)
― ken c, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:55 (nineteen years ago)
to pick up all my stuff i mean
― ken c, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:56 (nineteen years ago)
(They really like it)
http://www.nationalexpress.com/
gear goes in the hold and victoria is an easy hop in the victoria line from Brixton.
― Ed, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 14:58 (nineteen years ago)
What time do bands have to arrive with for linechecks?
― Dr.C, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 15:03 (nineteen years ago)
with gear for
― Dr.C, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 15:04 (nineteen years ago)
4pm, I think...but, but does my whole band hafta come then even though I'm the only one with equipment to check?
― G00blar, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 15:04 (nineteen years ago)
Load in is at 4pm. Badger Emsk for details. Do we know what is happening re: drums?
― Ed, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 15:07 (nineteen years ago)
I figured everyone would use the windmill's kit, but bring their own cymbals, snare, pedal, but I don't know if anyone's got other plans.
― G00blar, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 15:08 (nineteen years ago)
OK, just checking.
― Ed, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 15:09 (nineteen years ago)
hmm, national express is pretty cheap and good service
it would also mean we didn't have to leave until 11ish
― tissp, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 15:10 (nineteen years ago)
We will be there at 4 then - our drummer is bringing cymbals, bass drum pedal, hi-hat cymbals and snare.
We will use in-house bass amp if poss and D/I the keybds. I am bringing a Marshall combo too.
We'd just like to plug everything in and check that it makes a noise, rather than leave it to just before we go on...
― Dr.C, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 15:24 (nineteen years ago)
Sounds like a good plan.
― Ed, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 15:32 (nineteen years ago)
it'd be great to use the house gtr amp, since i use one of those anyway :)
we'll also need an extra gtr amp, but there is no fussiness over that... our drummer will bring snare & cymbals
we have a laptop to DI too
we will likely be quite early (3ish) but are strapping young lads and will happily help out with anything
― tissp, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 15:32 (nineteen years ago)
My vox amp will be there all day.
― G00blar, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 15:33 (nineteen years ago)
p.s. any word (K8? Emsk?) on what the availability of tickets at the door will be like?
― G00blar, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 15:34 (nineteen years ago)
borrowing the vox would be awesome!
― tissp, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 15:36 (nineteen years ago)
Pro-us, we don't use a drumkit, there's only 2 of us. Anti-us, Mark will want to use his own amp (A Marshall 2x12). We're been practicing setup, less than 1/2hr up & ready to run.
― Pashmina, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 15:40 (nineteen years ago)
off-topic but...
can a couple of people send me an e-mail by clicking my name i.e via ILX webmail. I am wrestling with big hotmail problems right now and need a few test messages to come in.
Ta!
― Dr.C, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 15:55 (nineteen years ago)
done
― Ed, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 15:57 (nineteen years ago)
and done
― tissp, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 16:02 (nineteen years ago)
oh thanks! I have just got a cascade of 100 network virus notifications from my firewall! Dunno what the hell is going on....
― Dr.C, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 16:05 (nineteen years ago)
will there be enough bits to plug a laptop and keyboard into the sound things? i just need that and to use the guitar amp of the place.
― ken c, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 16:32 (nineteen years ago)
Will not be a problem
― Ed, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 16:34 (nineteen years ago)
The LOLRUS is still sttuck in the Hub.
― Ed, Tuesday, 12 June 2007 16:36 (nineteen years ago)
damnit!
― Mark G, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 07:32 (nineteen years ago)
is therr really a windimll in brixton
― g-kit, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 07:39 (nineteen years ago)
Of course it is now out for delivery and I am at work, grrrrrrrr.
― Ed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 07:46 (nineteen years ago)
I should have got it delivered here, that would have been the smart thing to do/
― Ed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 07:48 (nineteen years ago)
YES there is a windmill in brixton. it's just next to the brixton windmill.
― emsk, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 08:27 (nineteen years ago)
amazing! is it any good
― g-kit, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 08:27 (nineteen years ago)
as windmills go
― g-kit, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 08:28 (nineteen years ago)
well, i like it. but i'm not an expert on windmills.
― emsk, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 08:31 (nineteen years ago)
is there someone i can phone up at the windmill wrt use of their projector (and indeed to ask whether they have one!)
― ken c, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 09:18 (nineteen years ago)
Probably!
― G00blar, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 09:33 (nineteen years ago)
woohooo!!!!!
― ken c, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 09:39 (nineteen years ago)
ken check yr mail.
― emsk, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 10:32 (nineteen years ago)
thanks!
― ken c, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 10:48 (nineteen years ago)
it is a good windmill, but you can't go up it most days as it is closed.
umm, there will be loads of tickets on the door, as we've not sold many online.
is everyone OK with the running order?
I am having stress dreams about this festival already. last night I dreamed that i was so busy runnning around trying to get things organised that I came back and I didnt get to see ANY of the bands.
what's happened to yr bassist, Goobs? gone permanently or just gone for the summer? if you need a temporary bassist, you know who to ask.
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 11:16 (nineteen years ago)
Ed, you rly should've pointed out to tissp the ten minute schlep from victoria tube station to VCS. i always forget about it 'til i come out of the tube and think D'OH!
― CarsmileSteve, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 11:31 (nineteen years ago)
Bassist gone for good, leaving July 15 for teaching job in the Appalachians!
― G00blar, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 11:38 (nineteen years ago)
Must buy him a banjo as a leaving gift.
― Ed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 11:38 (nineteen years ago)
Blimey! he will have to learn how to play banjo. ha ha x-post
looks like we have lost our synthesist. :-( i kinda thought we might, she is in 3 other bands and has a magazine to run.
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 11:39 (nineteen years ago)
I think they'll give him one when he gets off the plane pickup truck.
xpost why do people have lives outside of our bands???
― G00blar, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 11:40 (nineteen years ago)
i knew this when she joined hte band, though, so i can't complain. i didn't actually think she would last this long, TBH! i was surprised that she played more than just the first show!
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 11:41 (nineteen years ago)
not to worry, it shouldn't be that much of a problem... so long as it's obviously signposted :)
i'm going to book a ticket now--the coach either arrives at 1405 or 1505, so that's probably about half two or half three we'd be getting to the windmill, slightly later maybe--which would be better?
― tissp, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 11:44 (nineteen years ago)
oops, multiple xposts
i explicitly banned anyone in my band from having a life
Smart, that.
We're looking at a hiatus after this show ;_;
― G00blar, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 11:46 (nineteen years ago)
donb't take a hiatus! i'll play bass for you until you find a permanent bassist.
i certainly don't have a life! well, apart from that other band.
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 11:49 (nineteen years ago)
"that other band" takes up a lot of time! And energy! You don't know what you're volunteering for!
Besides, it's perhaps best to ease up on band stuff in "HELL SUMMER 07"
― G00blar, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 11:52 (nineteen years ago)
Bands :(
― Dr.C, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 11:55 (nineteen years ago)
well, i suppose you are getting married, whch means you will have no life for the rest of teh summer.
or maybe you just think i suck as a bass player, and that's why you're always telling me that the bass is too quiet on shimura curves rekkids.
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 11:57 (nineteen years ago)
Nooooo! I'm telling you the bass is too quiet 'cause I want to hear MORE of it, duh.
― G00blar, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:00 (nineteen years ago)
it's coz i'm not hott like the clements, isn't it? sigh.
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:02 (nineteen years ago)
― G00blar, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:03 (nineteen years ago)
Who wants to braid my hair this sunday, I am liking that look? Do we have a hair and makeup technician?
― Ed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:05 (nineteen years ago)
ha ha, i think we should make Lisa chief braider.
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:06 (nineteen years ago)
I shall pack rubber gloves.
― Ed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:07 (nineteen years ago)
is emil.y not synthesising for you guys kate?
― ken c, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:09 (nineteen years ago)
argh, i forgot to mail her a CD! eep!
well, FMM will be playing on Sunday but it's the last show that she'll be doing with us for ht e summer.
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:10 (nineteen years ago)
okay, i am going to order the coach ticket--kate, is turning up just after half three okay? i know you said three in the email.
― tissp, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:29 (nineteen years ago)
I'll probably be down there not long after
― Ed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:30 (nineteen years ago)
that should be OK. the soundman will probably be later than you - so long as you can set yr gear up in time.
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:37 (nineteen years ago)
Oh I think we'll aim for nearer 3 than 4 then if people are going to be around.
― Dr.C, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:37 (nineteen years ago)
i'll go for 3 too - i don't gig a lot and i get SCARED about not knowing how to set everything up in a gig setting and need people to hold my hand and tell me everything will be OK
― ken c, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:39 (nineteen years ago)
If I aim for 3 that means the rest of the band will get out of bed by make it by 4.
― Dr.C, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:42 (nineteen years ago)
I'll be there from 3. heck, i'll probably get there for about 2 as it's around the corner and despite how many millions of gigs I do, i still get nervous and need hand holding, too.
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:42 (nineteen years ago)
we can get the earlier coach, which will have us there just after half two if that's better--i just didn't want to be hanging around all on our own!
― tissp, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:42 (nineteen years ago)
there are always old men drinking at hte Windmill, no matter wat time it is.
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:44 (nineteen years ago)
then we shall arrive at 9am!
― tissp, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:48 (nineteen years ago)
Me and drummer are playing Glastonwick festival on Saturday with t'other band - I will try and keep away from thee lovely ale!
― Dr.C, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:52 (nineteen years ago)
I play most of my performances somewhere between hungover and drunk
― Ed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:54 (nineteen years ago)
everyone is playing at festivals except us. :-(
nobody loves us, everybody hates us, i'm gonna eat some worms.
i'm having an attack of the filthy jealousies. not helped by a friend's band is playing Hawkfest - while they're slagging me off online for not mentioning that they were first on at a gig I reviewed. ffs... :-(
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:55 (nineteen years ago)
i am probably going to be playing this gig in a haze of painkillers.
min you I seem to live my life somewhere between hungover and drunk.
Lesbians like us.
― Ed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:57 (nineteen years ago)
the pink collar ghetto. the music scene is more segregated than it's every been. :-(
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:59 (nineteen years ago)
sorry, i am not going to get all depressed all ove rthis thread. that's what hte 'cooler is for.
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:00 (nineteen years ago)
Actually I will be driving to the festival and to Brixton as there's too much stuff to transport otherwise, so no fear of booze ruin.
― Dr.C, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:01 (nineteen years ago)
im not playing any festivals either, except the holloway karaoke festival this friday.
maybe we should all go to windmill for noon, and just get drunk
― ken c, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:05 (nineteen years ago)
oops xpost
actually that is a good point - after the gig - will i be able to perhaps leave my stuff with one of yous? i'm heading to the royal festival hall straight afterwards - i don't have much stuff (keyboard laptop and guitar) but it'd be quite awkward to bring with me.. so if i can leave everything bar the laptop with one of you and i collect it during the week after or something that'd be awesome..
― ken c, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:08 (nineteen years ago)
if it's easily liftable, it can come down to streatham with me - I will probably grab a cab back after as it's not that expensive. but you will have to come way down south to get it again!
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:09 (nineteen years ago)
still no sign of the tremolo. can i borrow a tremolo from someone?
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:36 (nineteen years ago)
i threw mine away when i bought the guitar
― g-kit, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:39 (nineteen years ago)
thanks kate! very liftable - a guitar and a microkorg - in fact i can even take the guitar with me, as i can just wear the bag around.
what's a tremolo?
― ken c, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:40 (nineteen years ago)
techical term: whammie arm.
― Mark G, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:41 (nineteen years ago)
it is an effect that does wubble
― Ed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:41 (nineteen years ago)
i have a multi-fx that does tremolo..
and also i have a whammy bar on my guitar...
― ken c, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:42 (nineteen years ago)
mine wubbled into the bin cos i didn't want it spoiling up my guitar
― g-kit, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:42 (nineteen years ago)
not a tremolo arm, a tremolo pedal. :-(
i have loads of tremolo arms.
i should ask MNSSC if I can borrow his since he reccomended the guitar tech who hasn't fixed mine on time. but i'm escared.
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:43 (nineteen years ago)
you can borrow my multi-fx if you want..
― ken c, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:43 (nineteen years ago)
ask him
― Ed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:43 (nineteen years ago)
i'm scared of multi-fx. i need to be able to change the rate live, which tends to be very difficult with multi-fx things.
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:44 (nineteen years ago)
x-post it doesn't matter if i ask him or not as he won't check his email until next week by which time both gigs will have gone by.
Call him.
― Ed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:45 (nineteen years ago)
like i have his phone number!
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:46 (nineteen years ago)
use 6 degrees of separation to yr advantage
― g-kit, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:47 (nineteen years ago)
it probably is quite hard depending on how you want to change it..
i think mine has a tap thing that you can set its rate by tapping on a button at the right frequency
― ken c, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:47 (nineteen years ago)
maybe..... i might be thinking of delay
― ken c, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:48 (nineteen years ago)
Time to shot a quickie cheapie behringer:
http://www.behringer.com/TP300/index.cfm?lang=eng
― Ed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:49 (nineteen years ago)
22 pounds
― Ed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:50 (nineteen years ago)
i need to be able to twizzle a knob (heh) and have the speed of wub change.
actually, i could probably use my work contacts to find out his work email/phone as he works in the same industry, but that would REALLY be stalking. and creepy as fuck to even think about, so ugh, Ed, why did you put the idea in my head, like I don't hate myself enough as it is.
i'm going to listen to Trans Europ Express and pretend I'm still on Eurostar.
x-post maybe i should use one of those for now but i hate them. i was thinking of getting this wacky full stereo Leslie simulator pedal thing I saw at the guitar shop under Tottenham Crt Rd, but i'd have to borrow a boy to take me, as they are blind to females.
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:51 (nineteen years ago)
£22?!¬?!? where can i get one?
...not available in europe yet.
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:53 (nineteen years ago)
ANYWAY WE SHOULD NOT BE CHATTING HERE, WE SHOULD BE SAVING IT FOR PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY WANT TO GO TO THE GIG!"!!
I have a cheapo Behringer phaser which I will probably use on Sunday - it's great!
― Dr.C, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:54 (nineteen years ago)
yr finger slipped off the 1 and onto the 2 xpost
― g-kit, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:55 (nineteen years ago)
might be able to do lunchtime tomorrow
We can go halves on the behringer if you like and share it till it dies or eBay it or whatever.
if not available then the more mundane mono one is
http://www.behringer.com/UT100/index.cfm?lang=eng
― Ed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 13:56 (nineteen years ago)
we have a tremolo pedal if you want to borrow it kate
― tissp, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 14:44 (nineteen years ago)
that would be awesome, TISSP - though are you staying around long enough for our set?
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 14:46 (nineteen years ago)
yes! the coach back is at 11.30 from vcs so there is no rush, yay
it's actually chris' but i can't imagine he will mind you borrowing it (and i am pretty sure it is in working order)
― tissp, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 14:48 (nineteen years ago)
OK, an announcement regarding the compilation.
This goes under the name of "ILX has a bucket", and will be available at the gig for £3. And will be a nice souvenir of the gig itself, as all but two bands appearing on the day have tracks on it.
The price will just about cover costs, I reckon.
Other specifics about how/when for the gig and the merchandise is not my remit, mainly because I'm unable to be there.
― Mark G, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 16:14 (nineteen years ago)
sorry mark :(
do the bands who are/aren't on it get a copy for free?
― ken c, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 16:16 (nineteen years ago)
(FREE to contributers, though, natch!)
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 16:16 (nineteen years ago)
(and bands who are going to all that effort to actually play the gig, but who couldn't get it together on time to be on it, well.... OK)
― Mark G, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 16:19 (nineteen years ago)
yay! :-D
― ken c, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 16:21 (nineteen years ago)
I'll remit postage if somebody will snatch me one and send it over.
― TOMBOT, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 16:29 (nineteen years ago)
On the case for international contributors, they'll be coming back with me anyway.
― Ed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 16:31 (nineteen years ago)
Swing over via Dublin and save the postage!
― kv_nol, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 23:23 (nineteen years ago)
Is it really one note per song? If so, and I can borrow a synth, all you need to do is go "A!" or whatever beforehand and I can do it and maybe wobble cut-off frequency. Any more than that and I'll struggle, though. I kind of figured I wouldn't be doing it any more, though.
Also, don't suppose anyone has a place to stay on the Sunday, do they? We can get somewhere but they won't be coming to the gig and are not very close to the venue.
― emil.y, Thursday, 14 June 2007 01:34 (nineteen years ago)
I like the word "though", it seems. Hussar.
― emil.y, Thursday, 14 June 2007 01:35 (nineteen years ago)
I am Hotel Kate this weekend, you can have the space that Vietgrove will recently have occupied the night before! (In fact, you guys can have my bed and I'll sleep on the sofa, since you are a couple.)
On Saturday morning, I will make sure to get a decent mattress that does not deflate in the middle of the night.
― Masonic Boom, Friday, 15 June 2007 10:54 (nineteen years ago)
Wait, Vietgrove are staying Saturday night, right? And you want Sunday night?
I do not want to double book the Sizzlers Hotel!
Anyway, to the rest of ILX - BUMP!! This is this Sunday, you guys!
― Masonic Boom, Friday, 15 June 2007 10:55 (nineteen years ago)
yes we will be there. going to a free festival in Charlbury, Oxon the day before - it's going to be a busy weekend!
― Grandpont Genie, Friday, 15 June 2007 11:03 (nineteen years ago)
Kate, Ed - everyone. A Nation Mourns are out of the festival. We have no singer thru illness and despite trying to cobble something together the general feeling is that we can't do it. Hopefully someone else can step in. Sorry to let everyone down at such short notice - I am bitterly disappointed, especially since I thought I had a workable solution this morning. Some people just won't take risks though. I'd better stop there as I am bitterly disappointed and pissed off enough to type something that I shouldn't.
I hope that someone else can step in - emily perhaps?
At least you don't have to hear me sing...just be thankful for that.
― Dr.C, Friday, 15 June 2007 11:22 (nineteen years ago)
Oh noes, Dr C! This is awful news! I was really really looking forward to seeing you guys. :-(
I'm so sorry to hear it. I'm sure we'll muddle through, and I know you're as disappointed as we are. But still. :-((((((
― Masonic Boom, Friday, 15 June 2007 11:26 (nineteen years ago)
Aw man, I'm really sorry. You're still coming though, I hope.
― Pashmina, Friday, 15 June 2007 11:27 (nineteen years ago)
I can't make this unfortunately but hope it all goes well. I'm annoyed about not being to meet Pash but if you're around the rest of the weekend then drop me an email.
― Matt DC, Friday, 15 June 2007 11:29 (nineteen years ago)
Any other bands fancy stepping in and taking the slot?
G-KIT CAN WE PLS PLEASE BEG YOU ONE MORE TIME TO MAKE AN APPEARANCE?
Or does it mean we all get a 35 minute slot instead?
Now I have TEH PH34R that no one will be there and it will all be a disaster, oh noes, argh.
― Masonic Boom, Friday, 15 June 2007 11:36 (nineteen years ago)
sry i'm going to a birthday party on the beach & plz don't project me onto any walls or anything like that
― g-kit, Friday, 15 June 2007 11:39 (nineteen years ago)
Shit, Dr. C!!! That Sucks!!
(I can ask Jim if the Right to Die can do it--3 out of the five of us will already be there)
― G00blar, Friday, 15 June 2007 11:39 (nineteen years ago)
even if i did come there's no chance i'd be able to sing for dr c's band so i don't see how it'd help
― g-kit, Friday, 15 June 2007 11:40 (nineteen years ago)
30MINUTEGTRSOLO, KIT!
― G00blar, Friday, 15 June 2007 11:41 (nineteen years ago)
lol you think i can play guitar and it's cute
― g-kit, Friday, 15 June 2007 11:44 (nineteen years ago)
I'm going to try and pick up the compilations and shout at someone. If there are news reports of punishment beatings of parcelfarce workers, that's me.
― Ed, Friday, 15 June 2007 11:48 (nineteen years ago)
If Cowboy Jim could do it, that'd be cool.
I am getting teh fear, teh fear, teh fear.
― Masonic Boom, Friday, 15 June 2007 11:50 (nineteen years ago)
OK, I'm emailing the Right to Die now.
― G00blar, Friday, 15 June 2007 12:00 (nineteen years ago)
Assuming I don't get too ruined tomorrow night (best friend's birthday celebrations) I will be turning up to this! Sorry to not be seeing Dr C play though :( Are you still coming along?
― Colonel Poo, Friday, 15 June 2007 15:47 (nineteen years ago)
I aim to still come along yes - will try and bring a few folks with me to support the bands.
― Dr.C, Friday, 15 June 2007 15:53 (nineteen years ago)
OK HAVE A GREAT ONE AND I'LL SEE YOU THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WEEKEND!!!
― Mark G, Friday, 15 June 2007 16:35 (nineteen years ago)
Oh god, it's so soon. I'm all in a panic.
― Masonic Boom, Friday, 15 June 2007 16:39 (nineteen years ago)
About two months ago, I was all "oh my god, what shall I do, new songs? old songs? solo? 'pickup band'?
Then I realised about Amber's concert and how I was really out of the picture for the fest.
I can imagine that my panic then was 0.1% of the panic you guys are having right now. So, I do feel it.
It'll be great, and it'll be fant!
Post pics/sounds! I wish I was wit youse!
― Mark G, Friday, 15 June 2007 16:41 (nineteen years ago)
I'm convinced that no one is going to come, at least 3 other bands will drop out by Sunday, and everything will go wrong, and there will be NOBODY THERE and the Windmill will never let me do anything there ever again. Sigh.
― Masonic Boom, Friday, 15 June 2007 16:43 (nineteen years ago)
lucid nightmareing!
the only way is better!
LATER!
― Mark G, Friday, 15 June 2007 16:49 (nineteen years ago)
Oh, I have real nightmares about it when I'm asleep, too. :-(
I had a nightmare that I was so busy trying to run around and organise it that I didn't get to see ANY of the bands, and didn't even get to play - in fact, Hilton Betelgeuse stole our spot! It was AWFUL.
I suppose that's very symbolic, that I should stop trying to win approval from horrible crushboys who will only turn out to be cnuts not worthy of the attention and spend more time actually enjoying the things that I do.
― Masonic Boom, Friday, 15 June 2007 16:51 (nineteen years ago)
oh noes - can't attend due to parenty stuff
8.18am - today's bad mood starts here, foiled in the 11th hour
you kids have fun, right !
― Geordie Racer, Saturday, 16 June 2007 07:20 (nineteen years ago)
bring the parents
― Ed, Saturday, 16 June 2007 10:21 (nineteen years ago)
hi, if one band is dropping out does that mean we can have longer sets?
― ken c, Saturday, 16 June 2007 12:23 (nineteen years ago)
Right, on my way. :)
― Pashmina, Saturday, 16 June 2007 14:08 (nineteen years ago)
Yeah, Ken, I think we're gonna get THIRTY-FIVE minutes now!
― G00blar, Saturday, 16 June 2007 14:16 (nineteen years ago)
Am recording introductions today.
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 16 June 2007 14:23 (nineteen years ago)
Nice!
― G00blar, Saturday, 16 June 2007 14:57 (nineteen years ago)
(You know you don't have to do one for A Nation Mourns anymore, right?)
― G00blar, Saturday, 16 June 2007 14:58 (nineteen years ago)
Uh. Someone direct me to the updated list plz. (Or is that the only change?)
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 16 June 2007 15:01 (nineteen years ago)
That's the only change, afaik. Dr C's singer has taken ill.
― G00blar, Saturday, 16 June 2007 15:01 (nineteen years ago)
Oooh hadn't been able to check this thread for a bit, as we are in That London now, so didn't see the offer of a place to stay - is that still okay? We would be uber-grateful.
I will click your webmail thingy and send our telephone device nunmber type things. Cheers!
Happy Bloomsday!
― emil.y, Saturday, 16 June 2007 15:38 (nineteen years ago)
Just so you know, k8 usually can't/doesn't check her email on weekends. If you need to, you can email me and I'll pass along her phone number.
― G00blar, Saturday, 16 June 2007 15:54 (nineteen years ago)
Done. Many thanks in advance.
― emil.y, Saturday, 16 June 2007 16:03 (nineteen years ago)
Okay, intro tracks recorded! I will send a YSI link to Ed as well as to Gooblar for backup.
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 16 June 2007 18:11 (nineteen years ago)
sweet. i'm sure everything will be fine, me and pete can always just do a bit more djing ;)
― CarsmileSteve, Saturday, 16 June 2007 18:20 (nineteen years ago)
Astounding!
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 16 June 2007 18:22 (nineteen years ago)
i should also point out that despite the rather glib nature of my previous post i also get ALL THE ph34r every time we organise anything, so can sympathise with K's nerves :)
― CarsmileSteve, Saturday, 16 June 2007 18:22 (nineteen years ago)
Ver wedding venue I am at in northumberland has ver wifi so I has the introductions now.
Steve i shall burn them to cd and they will be ver responsibility of ver freaky trigger on the night
― Ed, Saturday, 16 June 2007 18:45 (nineteen years ago)
Yay. No last minute changing of the band lineups now.
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 16 June 2007 18:54 (nineteen years ago)
wish i could be there for the fun times. i'll be toasting y'all from little rock tomorrow!
― andrew m., Saturday, 16 June 2007 19:01 (nineteen years ago)
Best of luck to all the bands. Wish I could be there! Have a great time.
― kv_nol, Saturday, 16 June 2007 22:18 (nineteen years ago)
I can only echo kv_nol exactly! :-)
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 16 June 2007 22:34 (nineteen years ago)
Today people.
― Ed, Sunday, 17 June 2007 09:47 (nineteen years ago)
Aye, I could have done with being down this weekend rather than last weekend. Oh well. Enjoy!
― ailsa, Sunday, 17 June 2007 10:09 (nineteen years ago)
Ned's introductions are k-classic. I'll bring a backup copy on memory stick.
― G00blar, Sunday, 17 June 2007 11:06 (nineteen years ago)
Haha, thanks! :-)
― Ned Raggett, Sunday, 17 June 2007 13:50 (nineteen years ago)
That was tremendous; my personal highlight was vietgrove but every band was great. Ned, your introductions were very well received. A goof evening all round
― Ed, Sunday, 17 June 2007 23:06 (nineteen years ago)
Goof evenings are the best!
― Mark G, Sunday, 17 June 2007 23:18 (nineteen years ago)
A goof evening, you say.
XPOST DAMMIT
― Ned Raggett, Sunday, 17 June 2007 23:18 (nineteen years ago)
yayyyyyyyyy
― Mark G, Sunday, 17 June 2007 23:32 (nineteen years ago)
Savage! Any chance of the intros yearning sentimentally insensibly for the great unwashed?
There is a code there. Somewhere.
― kv_nol, Sunday, 17 June 2007 23:43 (nineteen years ago)
YSI link for intros
― Ned Raggett, Sunday, 17 June 2007 23:49 (nineteen years ago)
Great. Thanks Ned.
― kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 09:59 (nineteen years ago)
hot damn, i kinda wish i'd played at this now, just to hear Ned utter my name.
― g-kit, Monday, 18 June 2007 10:12 (nineteen years ago)
yes, well done ned and well done everyone else too :)
― CarsmileSteve, Monday, 18 June 2007 10:34 (nineteen years ago)
so how was it then? gutted not to have been able to make it along :-(
― CharlieNo4, Monday, 18 June 2007 10:35 (nineteen years ago)
Yeh proper reporting back please! I was far too exhausted and needed to give my house a lot of attention after shameful neglect and didn't even manage to get out of the house so sorry all, I did really want to come.
― Sarah, Monday, 18 June 2007 10:46 (nineteen years ago)
woooooo, those introductions are Nedtacular!
― StanM, Monday, 18 June 2007 10:59 (nineteen years ago)
The introductinos were fantastic, they really set the mood (also, I really did not want to have to compere.)!!!
Great evening, all the bands were very good, though very different. (The differentness kept everyone from getting bored.)
We had terrible sound problems, but that's what we get for not soundchecking. Bah.
Thanks to everyone who played for playing, thanks to everyone who DJd for DJing, thanks to everyone who came for... coming!
My house seems really empty after having it full of guests (and synths) all weekend. :-(
― Masonic Boom, Monday, 18 June 2007 11:57 (nineteen years ago)
I hope my korg is still there keeping you company kate!
― ken c, Monday, 18 June 2007 11:59 (nineteen years ago)
yes, it is! I may have a go on it this afternoon (I am not at work today due to Emil.y RUINING me last night with the bottles of wine she smuggled home.) but then you can have it back. Maybe. ;-)
― Masonic Boom, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:02 (nineteen years ago)
haha, have fun with it! I can spend all day playing around with the thing.
try the VOCODER.
― ken c, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:04 (nineteen years ago)
I am scared of vocoder.
― Masonic Boom, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:16 (nineteen years ago)
We had an awesomely great time, we both really enjoyed playing. What a great eclectic bill, it's a pleasure & a relief to say I thought all the other acts were super and I would go and see any of them again. We missed gooblar's band unfortunately b/c we had a 5-6hr drive ahead of us & couldn't wait round any longer. I got home at 4.30am and am totally fucked & broken.
City 17: Dirty 3/Morricone-ish, very atmospheric. Someone (I forget who) said this was thjeir first gig? Incredible if so, they were really tight & together. Red Bulldozers aka Ken C: Poor guy seemed to have some computer hassle of some sort, so performed most of his set w/solo electric guitar, which actually worked really well I thought. It reminded this old fart of Patrik Fitzgerald a bit. Ken's manner onstage was really funny & likeable. Shimura Curves: great tunes, clever lyrics, The singer (Lisa?) had powerful/compelling stage presence. Robotville: I hadn't heard these before, and was really impressed with the tunes, Hari's singing & rock star-ish manner, and the power & togetherness of the (fairly large) band. I especially dug the bass player's mighty jean-jacques burnel-ish tone
I would probably be a bit more coherent if I wasn't so fucked.
Tons of thanks to St Kate for a/putting this on, and seeing it through, whihch I'm sure must have been stressful at times and b/putting us both up on Sat evening. Kate is an unbeleivably great host, excellent company, and makes a delicious curry to boot.
Also thanks to Emma for stage managing in a transparent & non-hassly manner, and to everyone who turned up.
― Pashmina, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:20 (nineteen years ago)
i really hoped city17 was a HL2 reference but Ned seems to think otherswise
― g-kit, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:23 (nineteen years ago)
Glad you guys got home safe!
― Masonic Boom, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:24 (nineteen years ago)
Did Mark not text you? He was pretty sleepy when I dropped him off, if he didn't, that'll be why. Yeah, it was a pretty easy drive, just long & rather tedious. The rain got a bit biblical around the Nottingham/Leicester stretch.
― Pashmina, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:26 (nineteen years ago)
I CANT SEE ANY BLOODY PICS!!!!!! (sorry if I didn't notice a link to pics. is there? please. PLEASE.)
― nathalie, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:31 (nineteen years ago)
Great, great event! I was feeling pretty rough all day (something in that bbq did NOT sit well with my system), but all the wonderful musics more than made up for it. I am absolutely nodding along with everything Pash is saying about City 17, Robotville, Ken, and SC. I would also add that Vietgrove were mind-blowingly great. You had all of my bandmates wanting to sit at the foot your temple and learn the ways of THE SYNTHESIZERS OF SPACE.
― G00blar, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:31 (nineteen years ago)
astrocat.jpg
― kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:35 (nineteen years ago)
Pash, you are lucky that your synth made it out of my flat. ;-)
Like I said, I nearly didn't let you leave, I wanted you to stay forever, and just make wubwubwub spacenoises for me.
yes, photos! Who has some? I know Emil.y took some, but she's on a train back to Nottingham now.
― Masonic Boom, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:35 (nineteen years ago)
Also: for at least the fifth gig in a row, I broke my high E string on "Uh-oh". It's good we do it near the end of the set.
― G00blar, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:38 (nineteen years ago)
(something in that bbq did NOT sit well with my system)
possibly the pre pub dirty fried chicken
― Ed, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:39 (nineteen years ago)
You mean that's not intentional? I thought it was "a thing".
x-post hot and tasty and SICKENING.
― Masonic Boom, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:39 (nineteen years ago)
who are you, my conscience? xpost
― G00blar, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:39 (nineteen years ago)
Nah, I try to play it off as rawk trix, but it ain't on purpose.
― G00blar, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:40 (nineteen years ago)
Let me repeat: PICTURES! :-)
― nathalie, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:47 (nineteen years ago)
I DON'T EVEN OWN A CAMERA!!!
― Masonic Boom, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:48 (nineteen years ago)
Yeah, I don't have any pictures, either. I think my bassist's wife was taking some, but she hasn't sent them to me yet. They're prolly just of us, though.
― G00blar, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:50 (nineteen years ago)
drawings then!
― StanM, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:50 (nineteen years ago)
For StanM. here is my artistic impression of the red bulldozers (I picked the RB's bc there was only on person to "draw") (NB I have never used M$ paint before in my life)

OMG Ed's knees, so shiny!
― StanM, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:14 (nineteen years ago)
hi folks! it was really really great to come down and play, everyone was fantastic--another nod to pash and the MACHINE THAT WAS TRYING TO SUCK MY SOUL OUT OF MY BODY AND UP TO THE MOTHERSHIP ORBITING EARTH
i too felt a bit shoddy all day, and i spent the coach journey back in almost comical excrutiating pain and now i am now off work with flu! arse.
i am gutted that we had to leave two songs in to g00blar's set, after i had spent all that time trying to arrange things so i wouldn't miss anybody :(
i think we took some pictures, but i don't have the camera so i'm not too sure. we got a video of us playing, but i'm sure would be of little interest/use to anyone except us (even including the world's most boring "rockumentary" of us on the coach on the way down)
for reference, it was our first gig, and the name *is* a reference to hl2, official video game of city seventeen :p
thanks to everyone who stood and watched us, and to kate for putting it on--it was a really great day out!
― tissp, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:24 (nineteen years ago)
the name *is* a reference to hl2, official video game of city seventeen :p
So you claim. ;-)
― Ned Raggett, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:48 (nineteen years ago)
i am liking your reasoning better, admittedly
― tissp, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:50 (nineteen years ago)
I actually forgot my reasoning. I'm sure it was detailed.
― Ned Raggett, Monday, 18 June 2007 14:00 (nineteen years ago)
I am sad to have missed out of the later gigs.. pash's set sounds like it was amazing!
tissp's band got me all nervous when i watched them cos they played so well and so professionally. when at that time i didn't have a set list worked out (or fixed the high E string on my guitar - gooblar i think yours caught mine's bug).. my computer hassle was basically that i hadn't got round to programming the laptop to do the rest of the songs (due to only having started preparing properly a week ago..)
In other news though someone in the crowd was so impressed that I'm now booked for another gig in July!
The windmill is amazing value - all of that food at the back!! That alone was surely worth more than £5 each!?!??!
― ken c, Monday, 18 June 2007 14:55 (nineteen years ago)
I had to leave early so I missed the last couple of bands. Had fun the brief time I was there. Free BBQ a definite bonus! I was expecting to have to pay for food.
― Colonel Poo, Monday, 18 June 2007 15:17 (nineteen years ago)
fucking pwnage @ city17 i did wonder wtf ned was on about - everything except HL2, iirc
― g-kit, Monday, 18 June 2007 15:19 (nineteen years ago)
We are back now, hussar. Indeed, 'twas verily a great day, all the bands were really good, though I think Ken and the Shimuras were my favourites. Having said that, Pashmina's behemoth was my favourite member of any of the bands, I totally wanted to steal it. And Kate was a host par excellence last night, making us late night snacks and a proper breakfast, playing awesome tunes for us (it IS cool in ze pool!) and giving us a room full of paisley in which to sleep. Go Kate!
I have some pictures of all the bands except City 17, as I was still feeling a bit shy at that point - no offence to them, they were bloody ace, and I'm even more impressed at the fact that it was their first ever gig.
― emil.y, Monday, 18 June 2007 16:44 (nineteen years ago)
A brilliant day that was, many lovely memories. Many thanks to Kate, who was just the best host ever. Great variety...a credit to ILX.
― Mister Craig, Monday, 18 June 2007 18:18 (nineteen years ago)
Photos are now up - the set can be found here.
― emil.y, Monday, 18 June 2007 18:49 (nineteen years ago)

Indie rock, woooooooooh!
― Tom D., Tuesday, 19 June 2007 09:37 (eighteen years ago)
I should open a hotel or a B&B. I really like having people staying with me - especially if they bring MASSIVE SYNTHS or DJ in my living room.
:-)
Any time you need a place to stay in London, Pash/Mark and Emil.y/Craig! You're all excellent houseguests.
It IS cool in der pool! It is HOTTTT in der danzing zpot.
― Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 09:41 (eighteen years ago)
... I wonder how Holger Czukay managed to persuade Kenny Everett to do the vocals on that track
― Tom D., Tuesday, 19 June 2007 09:46 (eighteen years ago)
will this happen again?
― ken c, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 11:41 (eighteen years ago)
About as likely as that karaoke booth FAP idea you suggested back in 1972.
― Dingbod Kesterson, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 11:42 (eighteen years ago)
but i went to that a week last friday!
― ken c, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 11:43 (eighteen years ago)
Only if someone else wants to organise it.
I'm happy to involved in playing, but it's time for someone else to do the hard work.
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 11:49 (eighteen years ago)
will the windmill dude have us on?
― ken c, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 12:40 (eighteen years ago)
If someone wants to organise this, We'd def be up for playing it again. Nothing but happy memories of last year's do. I'd be up for assisting in organisation, but being up here in Newcastle, I don't know what I could do.
― Pashmina, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 12:46 (eighteen years ago)
And I could volunteer to play a set, then drop out ten minutes later!
― Mark G, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 14:00 (eighteen years ago)
i don't mind organising it. is windmill going to want us back?
― ken c, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 14:23 (eighteen years ago)
I have no idea. I can email you Tim's address, but he's not feeling very well disposed towards me, as I just had to cancel a gig I had said I would promote.
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 14:24 (eighteen years ago)
oops.
yeah his email would be good yeah! might wait a couple weeks so he isn't so mad at you.
― ken c, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 14:27 (eighteen years ago)
I have just sent his email to yourbandname at gmail, Ken.
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 14:27 (eighteen years ago)
Ken - I would be happy to help assist, but I'm probably more useful on the logistics side rather than hassling the venue etc.
We can play as long as it's not late July/August. June would be great.
― Dr.C, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 14:31 (eighteen years ago)
thanks kate! and thanks dr c for the offer! i will do some hassling and see what we have.. i'd quite like to do june too.
so currently bands interested - red bull dozers - kate - pashmina - dr c - mark g (to pull out 10 minutes later)
― ken c, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 14:34 (eighteen years ago)
i'm looking at the Calendar - how is Sunday, 15th June? It's basically the same weekend sunday as the last time round.
Pretty ideal, and festival free.
If interested to play please check your diaries!
― ken c, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 14:46 (eighteen years ago)
please also let me know your availabilities for the following weekend, in case 15th isn't available (21st/22nd)!!
― ken c, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 14:47 (eighteen years ago)
June is pretty much clear for me right now. If we grab a date, I can make sure it stays that way for me. (Not sure if I will be playing with new band or solo, but will suggest to new band.)
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 14:49 (eighteen years ago)
Dunno which band for me. ANM will have first refusal, but if it becomes too much like herding cats, I'll do it with Frac. Will know in next day or so.
― Dr.C, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 14:52 (eighteen years ago)
We can definitely do any of those dates, so if it happens count me in.
Any progress, Ken? Let me know if I can help!
― Dr.C, Friday, 14 March 2008 11:06 (eighteen years ago)
Any sunday is fine with me, any day around that time, really. I can take a day or two off.
― Pashmina, Friday, 14 March 2008 11:09 (eighteen years ago)
Early June is good for Autorotation, but our guitarist has family obligations at the end of the month. So the 15th is a definite yes. But don't know about other Sundays.
― Masonic Boom, Friday, 14 March 2008 11:10 (eighteen years ago)
Thanks guys - that's good news we can all agree on 15th June - I've now sent an email to ask about availability at the windmill - fingers crossed and I'll get back to here when i have more news!!
― ken c, Friday, 14 March 2008 11:48 (eighteen years ago)
Excellent! Thanks so much for taking on the organisation. Really, really appreciate it.
― Masonic Boom, Friday, 14 March 2008 11:55 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah Ken you're a star for taking this on.
― Pashmina, Friday, 14 March 2008 12:19 (eighteen years ago)
Hey folks - Just spoke to the Windmill: couple of things -
Firstly: 15th is out. 22nd is available.
Will that affect things?
Secondly: They're trying to push the sunday barbeques a little this year and so would quite like to get a 'bigger' band in if possible.. mmm.. any ideas??
― ken c, Friday, 14 March 2008 13:26 (eighteen years ago)
i asked them to put the 22nd on hold until next monday. so we can see.
otherwise - it's possible to find another venue of course!
― ken c, Friday, 14 March 2008 13:27 (eighteen years ago)
22nd is fine for me.
― Pashmina, Friday, 14 March 2008 13:29 (eighteen years ago)
I think it would be OK, but I've got to check with our guitarist. Either way, even if they can't do it, I will do it solo.
Bigger band... (see, this is why I cancelled my birthday party :-( ) ...who are bigger bands on ILX? The Windmill is a bit small for Momus or the Mountain Goats! (if either of them are in the country.)
― Masonic Boom, Friday, 14 March 2008 13:33 (eighteen years ago)
(You could always try asking on ILM, which gets more bands traffic.)
― Masonic Boom, Friday, 14 March 2008 13:34 (eighteen years ago)
i'm getting in touch with CHEMISTRY EXPERIMENT
― ken c, Friday, 14 March 2008 13:34 (eighteen years ago)
yes! Yes! Get Emil.y down! That would be awesome!
― Masonic Boom, Friday, 14 March 2008 13:37 (eighteen years ago)
We can do 22nd.
Whilst not 'big' we will bring a lot of people...
― Dr.C, Friday, 14 March 2008 13:54 (eighteen years ago)
just linked from ILM in case anyone else missed this thread.
hopefully rbd will be able to bring quite a few 'fans' too.
what was the turnout for last year? i missed the latter part of the show so didn't know how many turned up - was it around 70?
― ken c, Friday, 14 March 2008 14:01 (eighteen years ago)
Last year was awesome. I will get in touch with the boys and see if they fancy it - we are hoping to do a proper tour this year so they may be amenable.
― emil.y, Friday, 14 March 2008 14:07 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, about 60/70 people I'd say (not even including band members.) At least that's what it seemed to be from the cash we made on the door.
It was £50 a band between 6 or 7 bands - which works out at somewhere between £300 and £350 - means 60 to 70 paying customers. I think that was the maths, anyway.
― Masonic Boom, Friday, 14 March 2008 14:13 (eighteen years ago)
hurrah! even if not you must come down anyway! redbulldozers live!
xpost
― ken c, Friday, 14 March 2008 14:14 (eighteen years ago)
I shall be running a sweepstakes on the following:
1)What pieces of rebulldozers' equipment will break, or otherwise fail? 2)What will the most frequently forgotten word in their songs?
― Ed, Friday, 14 March 2008 14:16 (eighteen years ago)
3) How long will RBD's Microkorg get left at my house for afterwards? ;-)
― Masonic Boom, Friday, 14 March 2008 14:18 (eighteen years ago)
What happened to Hari?
― Ed, Friday, 14 March 2008 14:19 (eighteen years ago)
haha! the laptop's getting a little iffyrbd will be amazing this year.. just need to avoid going out on the lash til 4am the previous night this time.....
― ken c, Friday, 14 March 2008 14:23 (eighteen years ago)
Yes! Autorotation should be OK for the 22nd.
(going to ignore that number staring me in the face.)
― Masonic Boom, Friday, 14 March 2008 14:43 (eighteen years ago)
We will bring at least 30, I should think. Hopefully more.
― Dr.C, Friday, 14 March 2008 14:50 (eighteen years ago)
Awesome guys thanks for getting back to me so quick. I'll put everything i have together this weekend and get back to windmill hopefully it'll be good enough! :-)
In any case, we will definitely have a gig somewhere on a sunny sunday in June. Be excited!
― ken c, Friday, 14 March 2008 15:04 (eighteen years ago)
(The?) Chemistry Experiment are still going???
― the pinefox, Friday, 14 March 2008 15:06 (eighteen years ago)
I remember Gail O'Hara calling them Chemistry Cat
I can't remember where she got the Cat from
Maybe she got them confused with The Chemistry Set? (if indeed there is such a band?)
― Masonic Boom, Friday, 14 March 2008 15:07 (eighteen years ago)
Hey Pine! You should play!
― Dr.C, Friday, 14 March 2008 15:11 (eighteen years ago)
I will attempt to stay til the end this time.
― Colonel Poo, Friday, 14 March 2008 15:12 (eighteen years ago)
Hello the pinefox. Yes, the Chemistry Experiment are still going, but we don't do very much these days, as Steve has moved away to Leeds, and our resolution not to take 5 years over the second (proper) album appears to have failed. We're hoping to release it this year and tour it before I too move away and we resume abject slowness.
Also, there is indeed a band called the Chemistry Set out there somewhere. Despite the relative simplicity of our name, we have been called many things - the Chemistry Set, the Chemical Experience...
Oh, and I meant to ask - was the pinefox the ILxor who wrote a book on Joyce, or was it a different literary ILx type? I can't remember what it was called or the author's name, it is but a vague memory, but I would like to get it as I'm doing a module on the man...
― emil.y, Friday, 14 March 2008 15:12 (eighteen years ago)
was just to ask if PF wants to play!
― ken c, Friday, 14 March 2008 15:15 (eighteen years ago)
Maybe she was indeed thinking of The Chemistry Set
I can't think where the Cat came from - there was definitely a cat band around, that prompted this (NOT The Family cat or The Cat's Miaow)
Emil.y, thanks for your information and interest. Yes, I did write that book. Maybe I should write to you off-board about this
Thanks, Ken and Doc - we could talk about this
― the pinefox, Friday, 14 March 2008 15:23 (eighteen years ago)
i recommend not ever eating windmill barbecue food btw
― braveclub, Friday, 14 March 2008 15:28 (eighteen years ago)
I've been eating Windmill BBQ for years and never had any problems.
― Masonic Boom, Friday, 14 March 2008 15:32 (eighteen years ago)
last year the food was super tasty!
― ken c, Friday, 14 March 2008 15:37 (eighteen years ago)

The food was yummy last year, I wolfed down loads of it with no ill-effects, and usually I get baaad guts if the food is no good.

your face tells a different story.
― Ed, Friday, 14 March 2008 15:49 (eighteen years ago)
The Chemistry Set were pretty skinny jeans psych and lived next door to me in New Cross. One of them had the delightfully pastoral name Ashley Wood.
There is also The Family Cat, but I knew them not.
― suzy, Friday, 14 March 2008 15:49 (eighteen years ago)
Windmill BBQ is quality! So there!
― Grandpont Genie, Friday, 14 March 2008 15:51 (eighteen years ago)
that's my climax face
― ken c, Friday, 14 March 2008 15:51 (eighteen years ago)
oh good.
― Mark G, Monday, 17 March 2008 09:14 (eighteen years ago)
Just FYI, there won't be kebabs at the Windmill. Just loads of lovely BBQ. Just so you know.
― Masonic Boom, Monday, 17 March 2008 09:45 (eighteen years ago)
Checking in on ILE for the first time in abt a month--would love to play at this in some sort of capacity!
― G00blar, Monday, 17 March 2008 13:39 (eighteen years ago)
Gooblar, maybe we could play a Boss cover together
― the pinefox, Monday, 17 March 2008 13:42 (eighteen years ago)
Done.
― G00blar, Monday, 17 March 2008 13:43 (eighteen years ago)
which one?
'dancing in the dark'
without a drum machine?
'atlantic city'?
'devils & dust'?
'magic'? 'girls in their summer clothes'?
― the pinefox, Monday, 17 March 2008 13:46 (eighteen years ago)
(I guess we'd better not announce it on the thread
or we'd spoil it for everyone)
::strangles self::
― Masonic Boom, Monday, 17 March 2008 13:50 (eighteen years ago)
Surely this is a big enough name for Tim:
Two Academics Do Bruce
― G00blar, Monday, 17 March 2008 13:51 (eighteen years ago)
(p.s. pinefox, "Atlantic City" would rule)
pondering this morning...
I was playing the ILXVol3 CD, and thinking about a comment that came over on one thread about the very short track, and also thinking about the next compilation. But it seems too soon, and I'd hate it to be 'less good' than last years. But... what if it was a 'miniatures' collection? Lots of tracks, one minute maximum, music/spokenword/noises/recipes/daftness/seriousness?
What you reckon?
― Mark G, Monday, 17 March 2008 13:58 (eighteen years ago)
Not my cup of tea really, Mark.
― Dr.C, Monday, 17 March 2008 14:02 (eighteen years ago)
that's a cool big name Gooblar, for sure
what happened to KtS? something ugly by the look of it
spoken word one minute tracks sound quite boring to me
― the pinefox, Monday, 17 March 2008 14:03 (eighteen years ago)
Sorry, I go twitchy even at the mention of ::shudders:: Bruce.
― Masonic Boom, Monday, 17 March 2008 14:05 (eighteen years ago)
Cool guys - so we have at the moment
A Nation Mourns Vietgrove Autoratation Red Bull Dozers Gooblar (+ special guest collaboration with Joe B of The Pines)?
Will present this to Windmill later today and see what comes of it - I've also written to a couple of other venues just now to check their availabilities.
― ken c, Monday, 17 March 2008 14:05 (eighteen years ago)
or does Gooblar + Joe B = Two Academics Do Bruce
― ken c, Monday, 17 March 2008 14:06 (eighteen years ago)
Autorat?
http://www.ratdistortion.com/i/history_rat2.jpg
(I'm going to start keeping a log of funny mutations of my new band's name.)
― Masonic Boom, Monday, 17 March 2008 14:08 (eighteen years ago)
ken yes it does =
ken what's the date for this? that wld affect whether I can make it. (or maybe you don't know yet)
if I do make it I'll bash out a couple of songs on my own no problem, before making KtS very twitchy
― the pinefox, Monday, 17 March 2008 14:08 (eighteen years ago)
Hi PF it will be on either Sunday June 15th or Sunday June 22nd. Hope you can make it!
― ken c, Monday, 17 March 2008 14:10 (eighteen years ago)
Kenneth, thanks: reckon I probably can't make former, can make latter
― the pinefox, Monday, 17 March 2008 14:11 (eighteen years ago)
I'll look forward to hearing the Solofox! (And probably go outside for BBQ to avoid Bruceness induced twitchiness.)
― Masonic Boom, Monday, 17 March 2008 14:16 (eighteen years ago)
That's great PF - 22nd is looking more likely anyway at the moment.
― ken c, Monday, 17 March 2008 14:23 (eighteen years ago)
Great stuff Ken. I spoke to rest of band at the weekend and we feel we can bring plenty of people.
― Dr.C, Monday, 17 March 2008 15:04 (eighteen years ago)
Did anyone ever point out that the "lolrus" should actually be an elephant seal (no tusks)?
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Monday, 17 March 2008 15:29 (eighteen years ago)

― Masonic Boom, Monday, 17 March 2008 16:11 (eighteen years ago)
do you think we'll get more punters if louis jagger plays the dyson is on the bill?
(also kate - do you reckon autoratatouille will bring quite a few fans along?)
― ken c, Monday, 17 March 2008 16:34 (eighteen years ago)
I have no idea. I have never played a gig with them before.
― Masonic Boom, Monday, 17 March 2008 16:52 (eighteen years ago)
And getting bands to play judging by the number of fans they'll bring is going a bit against the spirit of the festival, I think. People will come because it's ILX (I hope). Then again, stressing about this kind of issue is one of the reasons I'm not organising it this year. :-(
― Masonic Boom, Monday, 17 March 2008 16:57 (eighteen years ago)
It's all cool! I'm just working out an estimate of how many people we're liking to attract so i can be more concrete when i contact the venues that is all :-)
― ken c, Monday, 17 March 2008 17:02 (eighteen years ago)
I'm relying on some of my 300 friends on facebook to want to come and see red bull dozers...
Sorry, sorry...
It kinda put me off the Windmill when I was trying to organise my birthday party there and they were all "how many people will you bring?" and I was all "DUDE!" it is my BIRTHDAY PARTY!!! - because the Windmill never used to be like that at all. They were always "we don't care how many people you bring so long as the music is good!" but now it's getting all weird and that stresses me out.
::deep breath::
― Masonic Boom, Monday, 17 March 2008 17:04 (eighteen years ago)
Don't worry! It'll all be cool :-)
I'll sort it all out. xx
― ken c, Monday, 17 March 2008 17:09 (eighteen years ago)
We'll bring 10-20 ppl here probably, Ken.
― Pashmina, Monday, 17 March 2008 17:10 (eighteen years ago)
A Ken-Tury of Caterers
― the pinefox, Monday, 17 March 2008 17:10 (eighteen years ago)
Ken - last time ANM played was January (Parliament Club, Ladbroke Grove). We brought about 85 on a very cold Saturday with srsly messed-up Tube service. i.e. 15 minutes walk to venue from Holland Park/NHG. We are playing there again in May and we will definitely take 100-110 to that. A Sunday is probably less popular than a Saturday, and it'll only be 5 weeks since we last played, so I'm guestimating 30-40 for us. It could well be more.
I just wanted to explain how I got the number. The Parliament Club promoter can vouch for our numbers if necessary.
― Dr.C, Monday, 17 March 2008 17:12 (eighteen years ago)
[we will definitely take 100-110 to that]
INTRACITY CREW - TAKING 100+

Hey guys have any of you had dealings with the Lark in the Park before?
― ken c, Wednesday, 19 March 2008 22:06 (eighteen years ago)
YU ask?
(my ans: no)
― Mark G, Thursday, 20 March 2008 08:40 (eighteen years ago)
I've got drunk in there whilst a woman with red hair dressed all in red led the pub in a rousing chorus of 'the lunatics are taking over the asylum'
― Ed, Thursday, 20 March 2008 09:15 (eighteen years ago)
I've only been there for friends' bands. It seemed like an OK place, but naught special.
― Masonic Boom, Thursday, 20 March 2008 09:20 (eighteen years ago)
Ken - I've played Lark In The Park. It was pretty good, although small room and a small stage. I didn't deal with the promoter. It seemed well organized and there were a surprisingly large number of people packed in there.
― Dr.C, Thursday, 20 March 2008 09:29 (eighteen years ago)
Hi guys!
It's been a while but I just got an email back from Windmill saying it's all ok and in the book for 22nd June! I think that is to say WE'RE ON!
Hope you're all still up for it - can you please send me an email at (redbulldozers at gmail dot com) so that I have a list of contacts for the bands playing?
Amazing!
― ken c, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 09:28 (eighteen years ago)

― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 10:51 (eighteen years ago)
well it's about time for an outing and brixton is as good a location as any. x-post
there are large dogs? AWESOME
― Upt0eleven, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 10:53 (eighteen years ago)
There is ROOFDOG and there is BIG FURRY FLOPPY DOG. They are both excellent. And always begging for sausages at BBQs.
(Now we will really know how to find you! You'll be the person we don't recognise feeding sausages to the dogs.)
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 10:54 (eighteen years ago)
(I wonder if ROOFDOG is related to Ceiling Cat.)
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 10:55 (eighteen years ago)
yup. sausages, burgers, kofte kebabs will all find its way toward floppy dog. and if anyone is wondering where their harmonica is....

― G00blar, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 11:58 (eighteen years ago)
Let me know when the lineup is complete, and I'll do you a new LOLRUS.
(Unless you passionately want to do yr own. in which case I shall demure.)
― Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 12:01 (eighteen years ago)
hehe i might have a go myself first (i love doing these flyer things!) but if it turns out crap i might need your help cos the original LOLRUS was awesome!
― ken c, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 12:06 (eighteen years ago)
ALSO: is it too late for ILX has a bucket vol 4 to coincide?
― ken c, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 12:07 (eighteen years ago)
probably is since we only have 2 months..
― ken c, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 12:09 (eighteen years ago)
Well, I'd say go, but it seems quite soon after Vol 3.
There seems a 2 yeargap between vols, and last one was particularly good.
I know, you missed out being on it, so did I!
― Mark G, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 12:10 (eighteen years ago)
Hi dere!
Can't believe this is actually happening! Less than a month after the long shot "will this happen again?" post.
I think I have now got emails from everyone and so we have the lineup
- Red Bull Dozers - Autorotation - Vietgrove - Gooblar - Joe Brooker - The Chemistry Experiment - A Nation Mourns
This is v. exciting.
I'll send an email to all soon to arrange the details with stage times, equipment and all that jazz!

― Mark G, Wednesday, 11 February 2009 14:15 (seventeen years ago)
New intros or not or...?
― Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 11 February 2009 14:55 (seventeen years ago)
When I said NEVER AGAIN, I meant... well, erm, maybe... I've got this new singer I've been working with, and we do these HILARIOUS electro-bosh versions of indie anthems...
― Marylebone Flashrave (Masonic Boom), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 14:59 (seventeen years ago)
If I happens again maybe it's time for a new venue though.
― o_O (ken c), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 15:48 (seventeen years ago)
Also, no Aut0r0t@t10n twunts which would cut down on 1000% of faffage, hah!
― Marylebone Flashrave (Masonic Boom), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 16:53 (seventeen years ago)
srsly
― Safe Boating is No Accident (G00blar), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 16:55 (seventeen years ago)
haha do you hate them now?
― o_O (ken c), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:25 (seventeen years ago)
where can be a good venue though.. do you think the harrison will have us?
dunno why i said that actually.
― o_O (ken c), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:26 (seventeen years ago)
Of course I hate them! They sacked me ages ago! Ha ha ha.
― Marylebone Flashrave (Masonic Boom), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:27 (seventeen years ago)
hahahahaha oops
i liked the afternoon outdoorsy vibe of the past ones. but we need a venue that doesn't expect us to pack the place with a 'headliner' at 22:00 sunday night.
― o_O (ken c), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:30 (seventeen years ago)
Wembley it is, then.
― Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:32 (seventeen years ago)

― Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:34 (seventeen years ago)
flashmob
― jel --, Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:35 (seventeen years ago)
a tube station gig would have been a great idea actually if it happened before boris' booze ban.
― o_O (ken c), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:37 (seventeen years ago)
Isn't it only on the tube trains themselves that you can't drink? Or does the ban extend to the stations as well?
― snoball, Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:58 (seventeen years ago)
stations as well
― o_O (ken c), Friday, 13 February 2009 12:24 (seventeen years ago)
You know, you can still drink on the overground. At least I'm pretty sure you can on the Thameslink.
SUTTON LOOP PARTY, ANYONE??!?!?
― I'm getting LOUD with you! (Masonic Boom), Friday, 13 February 2009 12:56 (seventeen years ago)
You can still drink on the overground, that wasn't covered by the ban.
I read an article about how zero people have actually been arrested for drinking on the tube since the ban came in. I used to occasionally pour a beer into a soft drink bottle to take on but since reading that I don't bother. Never encountered any problems.

― Mark G, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 09:37 (twelve years ago)

― ^ sarcasm (ken c), Wednesday, 26 June 2013 10:04 (twelve years ago)
"sit outside", ah what a wag I was, lol, etc.
― Mark G, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 11:59 (twelve years ago)
it seems to be just us two who remember this event now.
― ^ sarcasm (ken c), Wednesday, 26 June 2013 14:14 (twelve years ago)
, and I wasn't even there!
(I was going to be, was going to be onstage for the first time since 1996 or thereabouts, but a) it was Fathers Day, and 2) Amber was singing in a schools choir performance at the local theatre, so it would have been a really bad look if i'd have not been there.
― Mark G, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 14:20 (twelve years ago)
I went to this, for a bit.
