Well, If You're Not Bored Of Taking IQ/Psychological Tests Yet, Do An Enneagram...

My mum got obsessed with these after having to do a battery of such tests in order to see if she was fit to be priestificated.

Proper test with percentages here:

http://similarminds.com/test.html

Silly test with pictures and stuff here:

http://www.enneagraminstitute.com/

I Dream Of Sleep (kate), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 10:00 (twenty years ago)

I got this:

http://www.enneagraminstitute.com/Images/fivepic.gif

When honestly, I think I should be this (it came in a close second):

http://www.enneagraminstitute.com/Images/fourpic.gif

(is any of that coding going to work? No wonder I don't want to take the IQ test, I'm clearly not very bright.)

I Dream Of Sleep (kate), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 10:02 (twenty years ago)

I'm nine and sexual.

That reads wrong.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 10:06 (twenty years ago)

i did the one without pictures, to be less obvious that i'm slacking.

will this work?

((The female 3 and 9 were much funnier, so maybe I should have used those.))

I Dream Of Sleep (kate), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 10:12 (twenty years ago)

I'm a sucker for these things today. I got type four with five very close behind (and I got a big fat zero for type 8).

NickB (NickB), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 10:12 (twenty years ago)

(Colette is apparently Margaret Thatcher if that illo is anything to go by!)

The only thing I got a big fat zero for was Type 2. Hah!

I Dream Of Sleep (kate), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 10:13 (twenty years ago)

Add sexual to my picture, and I'm "fucking in heaven" it seems...

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 10:15 (twenty years ago)

i don't like that i'm a mask-holder! this test has upset me somewhat. it's the way the questions were asked. hard to explain. arrr. fuck.

NickB (NickB), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 10:18 (twenty years ago)

But... but... I thought the mask holder was good because you like pretending to be a mysterious lurker!

I don't know. Remember also that one's personality may change in different situations. One of my problems with these kinds of tests is that because I am manic depressive, the answer can very much change depending on which part of my cycle I'm on.

When I'm manic, I'm very much Expressive, Dramatic, Self-Absorbed, and Temperamental but when I'm depressed I'm more Perceptive, Innovative, Secretive, and Isolated.

(Or maybe I'm both all of the time.)

I took it again today, and I'm tied for Types 4 and 5.

Type 1 Perfectionism |||||||||||||| 54%
Type 2 Helpfulness |||| 14%
Type 3 Image Focus |||||||||||| 42%
Type 4 Hypersensitivity |||||||||||||||||| 78%
Type 5 Detachment |||||||||||||||||| 78%
Type 6 Anxiety |||||||||||||| 58%
Type 7 Adventurousness |||||||||||||| 58%
Type 8 Aggressiveness |||||||||||||||| 66%
Type 9 Calmness |||||| 22%

However, how can I be tied on Anxiety and Adventurousness? No wonder I'm so conflicted!

I Dream Of Sleep (kate), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 10:27 (twenty years ago)

i genuinely thought i was a semi-mysterious kinda-lurker until a few weeks ago! then i found out that well, gee, people actually notice me. so now you get the full-powered g-kit. hmmm. maybe it was a mask0r. so confused.

i can't see any benefits for being a type-3-vain-ass. it really is the last thing i wanted to be. maybe i was too cynical with my answers and projected them outwards or something. i don't know...
I'm nice! i really am! please believe me!

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 10:29 (twenty years ago)

I'm a two, socially compliant and sexually assertive.

When I looked up the description of a type 2 on the cartoon-picture page, it didn't sound very nice :(

C J (C J), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 10:35 (twenty years ago)

Aw, CJ, but you bake cookies!!!

http://www.enneagraminstitute.com/Images/twopic.gif

(Apparently they make the best priests out of all of them.)

((I was non-sexual, non-social in my orientation, but a loner/self preservation orientation. Sigh.))

I Dream Of Sleep (kate), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 10:37 (twenty years ago)

The 'healthy' description of being a Helper - all compassionate and caring and warm-hearted etc - is great, but move down to the less healthy attributes of a 2, and I'm jealous and possessive and a bit of a martyr. Ho hum.

I do bake great cookies though.

Awww, don't be upset! See, this is why I prefer the answers on the Cartoony site to the other site (even though their test is better). It's more well rounded and balanced.

You're a Reformer, not a Perfectionist:

It's interesting the way it puts different views on the same matter together, rather than asking questions about other subjects before coming around to attack from another angle like most of these tests. Though it does tend to make you wonder when you give different answers to similar questions ("I am a loner", Agree + "I could survive as a hermit", Disagree = OH DEAR)

Haha and sure enough I'm all over the place

Type Five
The Investigator
The perceptive, cerebral type. Fives are alert, insightful, and curious. They are able to concentrate and focus on developing complex ideas and skills. Independent, innovative, and inventive, they can also become preoccupied with their thoughts and imaginary constructs. They become detached, yet high-strung and intense. They typically have problems with eccentricity, nihilism, and isolation. At their Best: visionary pioneers, often ahead of their time, and able to see the world in an entirely new way.

sunny successor (katharine), Friday, 6 January 2006 21:15 (twenty years ago)

although i came pretty close to being a type 4 too:

Type Four
The Individualist
The introspective, romantic type. Fours are self-aware, sensitive, and reserved. They are emotionally honest, creative, and personal, but can also be moody and self-conscious. Withholding themselves from others due to feeling vulnerable and defective, they can also feel disdainful and exempt from ordinary ways of living. They typically have problems with melancholy, self-indulgence, and self-pity. At their Best: inspired and highly creative, they are able to renew themselves and transform their experiences.

miss michael learned (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 6 January 2006 21:15 (twenty years ago)

Oh goody. I'll just have to gain about 8 inches and lose 50 lbs.

Laurel (Laurel), Friday, 6 January 2006 21:15 (twenty years ago)

Alba (Alba), Friday, 6 January 2006 21:29 (twenty years ago)

Oh, I skimmed right over the typo. And just for the record, Nick and I have already met. Nothing imploded, nor was the world-as-we-know-it sucked into a swirling vortex of self-admiration, so I think we're safe for the time being. Oo, there's a thought: maybe we should just stick to complimenting each other from across the waves? Think of all the time it will free up to have someone else doing that admiring for you.
