hey, "you" (whoever would do such a thing) shopuld totally get a gif tracker, whatever that is, and get all those neat stats, like pie charts and stuff. maybe you have that already,

ambrose (ambrose), Sunday, 8 May 2005 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

For some reason, I find those things really tacky.

RS_LaRue (RSLaRue), Sunday, 8 May 2005 21:40 (twenty-one years ago)

tracking programs can be fun, tho. that's how i know that, for example, 0.06% of the traffic on my website came from Morocco.

kingfish, Sunday, 8 May 2005 21:45 (twenty-one years ago)

OK looking at the top 20 rankings it is obvious that for true competitiveness ilxor.com needs:

- more anime
- more picture ratings
- more Dutchness

nah. but we have Ned.

Kim (Kim), Monday, 9 May 2005 00:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Also its worth noting some boards frown on repeated postings to a thread - for eg: here, if I made an observation then realised I'd forgot something, I'd post a second or third or whatever time to update. We cant do things any other way.

On Simptropolis this is completely frowned on as "spamming" (yeah they obviously have no idea what spamming is, but wtf ever), and you can edit existing posts to update/fix them. And I assume such edits wouldnt count towards extra posts. So any board that allows edits, and frowns on flooding/spamming posting styles, is never gonna be up there.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 9 May 2005 00:32 (twenty-one years ago)

nah. but we have Ned.

Hooray!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 9 May 2005 00:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh yeah, Ned the Ubiquitous. Nedarino. Nedster. Nedness. Nedman Graham. N-- I'll stop now.

Anyway -- yeah, I'm inclined to believe that what gets a lot of the posts going is what Trayce just said, the corrections and second thoughts and "hey, I would like to elaborate on something"s that occur here. Which are really, really hard to unlearn if one were to go elsewhere, with actual post editing capabilities.

Congratulations, everyone, on being prolific and holding up this joint without us less frequent posters.

The inability to edit your posts, for all the trouble it has caused me personally, is kind of awesome. More boards should hold you accountable for what you said the *first* time.

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Monday, 9 May 2005 03:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Simtropolis are lame - I mean I love downloading their mods and stuff but the forums are crap! Rule: "USE SEARCH! Dont make new thread on something already posted about". OK, fair enough... Next Rule: "Don't revive old threads!". WTF? That one makes NO sense, especially not in light of rule the first. Nongs. So I never post there, I just leach all their cool shit.

Hey, does anyone know where i can get a lightning bumper for my 01' f150 stand cab, made of urethane?

i know a guy thats got a real one, just needs to be stripped and repainted. email me if you want some info.

Wings West makes them and they also have the lightning 8 piece kit. Check out their website.

i have a Wingswest, I hate it. Maybe I just got a bad one, but I would get a OEM L bumper if I had another chance. My skirts are from a SVT Lightning.

why do you hate your wing west cover? I just bought one...I hope it doesnt suck?

I got a Wings West one too and I like it. the only thing I dont really like is that I gotta make some brackets for foglights.

Ken L (Ken L), Monday, 9 May 2005 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Or should I change that a to z?

Ken L (Ken L), Monday, 9 May 2005 22:24 (twenty-one years ago)

the one other board i've ever posted to, i had the ability to edit my posts, and within a few minutes most of my posts were about five words long and simply conveyed a piece of information. the ones where i didn't have a piece of info to convey, i just deleted after a few days.

That editing business can get really hairy sometimes. It's nice to be able to correct typos or html errors, or the like, but sometimes one person will delete part of a post that someone else responded to, changing the meaning of that other person's post. I had this happen recently somewhere and I just got pissed off and left, I think for good. I'm sure the intentions of the person making the edits were okay, but they should have considered how it would totally alter some remarks I had made in response (withoout quoting the original). I felt pressure then to delete my response, which I did, but I kept going in a basically passive-aggressive tantrum.

RS_LaRue (RSLaRue), Monday, 9 May 2005 22:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Like many people, I suppose, I've gotten kind of used to the typos over here, my own and others- in fact, I've learned to love them, like I love the mistakes on old records. Rock and Roll!

I Love Music
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit.
Jump to: navigation, search

I Love Music [1] is a popular internet message board. It features regular contributions from much-loved internet personalities such as Mark Sinker, Simon Reynolds, Momus, Marissa Marchant, Ned Raggett, Matthew Perpetua and Esteban P. Buttez. Despite its name, the board has very little to do with loving music.

Yeah, Wiki has some controllers. There were some shenanigans around the "Swiftboating" entry, so they locked it down for a while to let folks cool off.

If you take a wander thru the "history" link, you see the dueling versions.

Similarly, with the John Byrne entry, where the guy himself(or folks from his messageboard) altered his biographical info.

One one board, the moderators pointed out that all the pro-Marissa messages were coming from the same IP address, which caused Marissa to proclaim that Google was ran by the government, and one of their agendas is to hold her back.

all wiki's need a suitable amount of deadpan.

for posterity's sake, or whenever ILM gets another entry.

pwns are coniferous trees of the genus Pwnus, in the family Pwnaceae. There are about 115 species of pwn, although different authors accept anything from 105 to 125 species. They too know that shit happens when you party naked with genus Robertus Gillespi.

[edit]
Distribution
Pwnes are native to most of the Northern Hemisphere. In North America, they range from the Arctic south to Nicaragua and Hispaniola, with the highest diversity in Mexico and California. In Eurasia, they range from Portugal and Scotland east to the Russian Far East, Japan, and the Philippwn, and south to northernmost Africa, the Himalaya and Southeast Asia, with one species (Sumatran Pine) just crossing the Equator in Sumatra. pwn are also extensively planted in many parts of the Southern Hemisphere.

Pwns were introduced to North America by Michael McDonald. Michael McDonald is an American "blue-eyed soul" singer, known for his trademark husky tenor voice.

Born on February 12, 1952 in Saint Louis, Missouri, McDonald played in several local bands while attending McCluer High School. He moved to Los Angeles in 1970, and first gained wide attention as an adjunct member of the group Steely Dan, providing back-up vocals and keyboards. In 1976, McDonald was recruited by The Doobie Brothers to replace outgoing lead singer Tom Johnston, though he continued to do background vocals for the Dan up to its 1980 Gaucho release.

As a member of the Doobies he recorded some of his most memorable songs, such as "Takin' It To The Streets", "Little Darling", "Minute By Minute" and "What A Fool Believes" (which earned him a 1980 Grammy Award for Song of the Year).

[edit]
Morphology
pwn are evergreen and resinous. The bark of most pwn is thick and scaly, but some species have thin, flaking bark. The branches are produced in regular "pseudowhorls", actually a very tight spiral but appearing like a ring of branches arising from the same point. Many pwn are uninodal, producing just one such whorl of branches each year, from buds at the tip of the year's new shoot, but others are multinodal, producing two or more whorls of branches per year. The spiral growth of branches, needles and cone scales are arranged in Fibonacci number ratios. The new spring shoots are sometimes called "candles"; they are light-colored and point upward at first, later darken and spreading outward. These "candles" offer foresters a means to evaluate fertility of the soil and/or vigour of the trees

Yea the format of the IP address (with a zero in the 3rd octet and a 2 in the 4th) and googling for it leads me to think it is a gateway. Leave it to a crappy college to not even give students a real ip.

Two places below a bunch of white supremacists. For shame.

Matt, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 10:42 (eighteen years ago)

Also, we've dropped from 25th place to 166th if ranked according to post/member ratio.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 10:43 (eighteen years ago)

And the 25th spot was before ILX became members-only, I think.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 10:44 (eighteen years ago)

has ilx shaved off its rough edges to become a neat, streamlined, underground MACHINE? or is it now a devil's playground dominated by a gang of ruthless hardman that suffer no fools gladly and hound newbies until they either shake with fear or fade away?

Upt0eleven, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 10:48 (eighteen years ago)

If the latter was true, I don't think the post/member ratio would've gone down so much.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 10:50 (eighteen years ago)

i think it's more that people got bored?

Matt, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 10:51 (eighteen years ago)

yeh, but 16,917 of those are my sockpuppets.

grimly fiendish, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 11:08 (eighteen years ago)

I think DRAMA's edging in front of HYPERBOLE with the superdelegates at the moment.

Dingbod Kesterson, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 11:10 (eighteen years ago)

Both those counts are wrong. We're at 6,244,966 posts which puts us in 191st place. User accounts are down to 6058 though, since the move. With a comment/user ratio of 1058, we should still be in 25th place!

stet, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 11:54 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, I was kinda wondering how the post/member ratio could've dropped so radically.
