Secret Santa at my last work was pretty involved: for a week, we would do a small present (a dollar or two) for our Secret Santa person every day, and we'd have to hide it, so people would come in early to try and hide the presents before the other people came in. Then on the last day, we'd have a dinner at a restaurant and exchange the big Secret Santa presents and find out who our Secret Santa was, though we could try and guess first based on the little presents. I was always easy to guess because I would go to the toy store and buy weird gifts like glow-in-the-dark Virgin Marys and so on while everyone else was giving away xmas M&Ms.

Haha I just logged just to find this thread and see if Scott got my package. I wonder if Tuomas meant to give us both each others addresses. I fuckin love the record and flute thingy and shirt and the chocolate S was so clever. And there was something else I bought that I forgot to include... it was a small package of gumballs and the label was a cartoony drawing of two people in bed and the woman peeking under the sheets, and they were simply called "You've Got Some Balls". The only fair way is to create four groups, and create a coefficient that's based on their individual secret santa performances of the past three years and the cumulative secret santa performances of ilxors from their country over the past three years.

Then the four ilx0rs with the highest coefficient are put into the first bag, the next four into the second bag etc etc. then all the names are drawn out of the bag and put into each group, one at a time.

Each ilxor in each group then "play" each other in a minileague by comparing their names on googlefight.com. The players who come last will then be out without a present. Those who come 2nd from last will get to send each other an e-christmas card for a bit.

The others will go into a second group stage, where they once again play each other but this time in their statscock ratings. Then when this finishes, the top ilxors from each group will be paired up with the second top ilxors from the next group. The rest will be sent a tuomas sundae photo

Okay, today's the final day to join the Secret Santa. I won't be doing the actual draw at night though, so if someone still wants to mail me and join in, you have until 10AM tomorrow (8AM UK time, Americans can count from that) to do so. Everyone's who's in this will get his Secret Santa info sometime tomorrow afternoon (Finnish time), if fo some reason you don't get an email from me then, let me know.

If you find the idea silly, Enrique, that doesn't mean that all of us do. I think it's been quite fun, sending and receiving gifts from other parts of the world, plus it makes ILX feel more like a community of real people and not just words on the screen.

I got mine today. Thanks a bunch Abbott, the book seems exactly like one I should like: the inner sleeve blurb made me giggle already.
