Cambridge - Fancy A Punt?

And a pint, obviously.

I'm thinking Saturday, either the 24th or the 31st July, or the weekend just before. What do you all say?

I can do any weekend except the weekend of the 10th, and there is a very big annual ILX event that will be taking place in July/August as well, but I don't think a date has been set for that yet so hopefully they won't clash.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 14 June 2004 08:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm in! I'm probably going to Spiritualized on the 1st August, (if I remember to buy tickets) so if there were a choice between the two weekends, I'd pick the 24th.

Apostrophe Catastrophe (kate), Monday, 14 June 2004 08:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Carumba -- Cambridge Film Festival. Even I might be there.

Enrique (Enrique), Monday, 14 June 2004 08:58 (twenty-one years ago)

24th is good for me.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:01 (twenty-one years ago)

24th probably a good idea, as it's likely that SOMETHING ELSE may be happening in central london on the 31st.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

SATURDAY 24TH IT IS.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Mark -- prepare for the worst coach journey EVAH.

Enrique (Enrique), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I did Oxford to Stansted on Friday and Stansted to Oxford yesterday. I am prepared.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:14 (twenty-one years ago)

You do get to see Milton Keynes though. Yet the three hour bus has NO BLINKIN TOILETS!!!

Enrique (Enrique), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:15 (twenty-one years ago)

When we pulled into High Wycombe yesterday it was the cue for a slip of the tongue from the driver: "We're stopping here for ten minutes to give you a chance to spread your legs".

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Well yes. I haven't taken the Cambridge-Stansted-Oxford one in many years, have kept it X5 for some reason, but the airport one is a smoother journey, fewer roundabouts. If flush, you can't beat the train (Cambridge-KC=45 fuggin' minutes peeps -- why live in Lindon at all?).

Enrique (Enrique), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

only a little unhappy that the three people that had been organising this had already agreed the 31st last week...

colette (a2lette), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, I *said* to start the thread last week!

Apostrophe Catastrophe (kate), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, can pink actually do the 24th?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I would have preferred the 31st, but I am assuming Trig Brother is occuring that w/e.
perfect x-post!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

:-( that's about the only weekend i can't do, as i'm in durham. no chance of august?! or indeed the 31st?

toby (tsg20), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

toby, the 31st is RESERVED ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmm!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:34 (twenty-one years ago)

17th then?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:34 (twenty-one years ago)

oh duh ok. you will all have to miss out on my amazing punt skillz then.

toby (tsg20), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:35 (twenty-one years ago)

why Hmm, Pink?

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually this *isn't* during the Film Fest. Gah.

Enrique (Enrique), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought it would be better towards the end of the month, just cos of cash situ is all. What about the first w/e in august then. Toby, you & anna gotta come, you just gotta!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:37 (twenty-one years ago)

That first weekend of August is impossible for me, I think.

Does anyone have a massive problem with the 17th of JULY?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

can't trig brother happen in august? or is there a rule about that or something?

i can't do the 17th, and i'd prefer not to do the 24th. i'd really like a weekend of not having to rush around for the first time in a month (my parents visiting is stressfull enough), plus pp's valid comment about running out of money in glasto month and actually being able to afford the bus on the 31st.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:40 (twenty-one years ago)

no sam smiths tho people, where we having a pint then - the cow

james (james), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I think its best to assume the Trig Brother day is fixed, as it will almost certainly attract a much bigger group than this Cambridge event, and its sensible not to be trying to set two dates at once.

14th August alright?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, if we have it that late, at least its more likely to be sunny...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:47 (twenty-one years ago)

i can do any weekend in august...

colette (a2lette), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Can't do any later in august as we are moving house.
x-post yeah terrible weather at the moment innit?! ;-)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

So you can't do the 14th August then?

Essentially, there is no weekend available that everyone who wants to go will be able to make. So its probably best to pick the least worst option for most people, which is either the first weekend in August (I don't really mind not going), or the 24th.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

24th of July, that is.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

That's a bit harsh if I can't even make it to a Cambridge fap don't you think?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Pink we are working this around you above all...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 14 June 2004 09:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I meant from the pov that I can't really do any later than the first w/e in august.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 14 June 2004 10:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Please don't do the 7th Aug, as it's my birthday and there will be a fap in london (sorry if this causes inconvenience)

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 14 June 2004 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

What can you & chris do vicky?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 14 June 2004 10:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I give up, you lot fight amongst yourselves for it.

(Although when a date is arranged get a mod to put it in the thread title as this would all be k-confusing otherwise)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 14 June 2004 10:11 (twenty-one years ago)

x-post

we'll be going to the thing on the 31st, but I'm not sure what we've got planned. We're pretty busy this summer, got lots of weekends to plan away, but we haven't finalised the dates on any yet.

We're not going to find a date that suits everyone, so Pink I think you should plump for the one that suits you best.

Vicky (Vicky), Monday, 14 June 2004 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I would just rather opt for the date that most ppl can do tbh.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 14 June 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

You can make some of the people happy all of the time, and make all of the people happy some of the time. But you can't make all of the people happy all of the time!

Please let me know which date it is, and I will be there! I promise!

Now my reports have finished running so I have to get offline and go do something with them.

Apostrophe Catastrophe (kate), Monday, 14 June 2004 10:23 (twenty-one years ago)

since this thread has started, my august 14th has filled up. a big birthday party weekend.

PP, any thoughts? will you be so poor on the 24th that you can't come?

colette (a2lette), Monday, 14 June 2004 10:35 (twenty-one years ago)

if the 24th is the best time when the most amount of ppl can come, then that's the date we go for definitely!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 14 June 2004 10:41 (twenty-one years ago)

the 24th will be cool sar - we will scrap together a meager amount and drink water or lime soda's - its cool (the liklihood is my pay will be in then anyway BACS permitting)

james (james), Monday, 14 June 2004 11:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Well if you've been paid hun, let's party! 24th then anyone?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 14 June 2004 11:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Just wanted to bump this so that ppl can put the date in their diary! Stevem, can u put it in the fap calender? So who can make this now then?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I want to go, to Cambridge!

When?

the bellefox, Tuesday, 22 June 2004 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)

24th July

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh, I might now be able to make this as I am taking some days off in July and was planning to see friends in Cambridge at some point - so could COMBINE the two maybe! But will not be any more committal than that at the mo I'm afraid :)

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 12:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh archel that would be great!! yay!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

doubt if I make it now as this could be the only week off for the forseeable, lots of family stuff to do in the next couple of months

chris (chris), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 12:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Woohoo! I have ne'er been to Cambridge. My punt skeelz are mad rubbish though, sorry. Spent all my water time at uni being languid/shooting Christchurch boys with water pistols.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 12:11 (twenty-one years ago)

also, they stand on the wrong end in cambridge you know...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 12:12 (twenty-one years ago)

That's a shame chris. yay Liz!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 12:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Can I come PP?

Davel (Davel), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Erm, well, course you can petal! U spoken to J yet?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 12:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay!!
Spoke to J earlier!

Davel (Davel), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 12:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Punting in Cambridge = k-fun. (I've gone twice, both times with people from Clare College). I wish we could punt on the Charles.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

A FAPing in Cambridge? Oh my. I don't know so many peoples, but I'm in. Whenever. I might be able to pull a free punt (or two) if needed.

gizmo (gizmo), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd love to come and pull some cunning punts.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 15:35 (twenty-one years ago)

is cambridge cooler than oxford? last month k4r3n sp4rck j0n3s came and she was very cool. dry as parchment. but mostly i think of nick drake asking his friend if he could take his medication. a cold glass of water from the kitchen sink. this is from the lyric sheet (i think) but made up, too.

youn, Wednesday, 23 June 2004 06:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh yes, oh yes, it's written in my diary. Maybe you can set a big NET at Glasto and capture that lovely Delays boy and bring him along, too. Excellent!

Although I'm technically more in favour of the *idea* of Oxford, I've always had a better time in Cambridge every time I've been. Cambridge is a beautiful town, friendly, and the people are lovely. Not like those stuck up Oxford snobs! Hah! ;-)

::waits for inevitable beatdown from Enrique or MarkH::

Apostrophe Catastrophe (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 06:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I always think of Cambridge as being a bit more Science than Oxford

Davel (Davel), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 07:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe that's why I like it! ::to the tune of Taxman:: Oh-oh, Dr. Waaaaat-son. Oh-oh, Dr. Crick!

Apostrophe Catastrophe (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 07:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Of course Cambridge is better, I'm here for a start.
Gizmo-are you from cambridge?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 07:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Cambridge has Newton and Darwin and Oxford had Tony Blair, what can I say?

Davel (Davel), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 07:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Dave, you are not helping. Cambridge has beer & good pizza ppl!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 07:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, well, to be fair, Oxford had Tolkien. But I do see your punt. I mean, point.

Apostrophe Catastrophe (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 07:34 (twenty-one years ago)

*groan*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 07:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry. ::hangs head in shame:: But hey! Newton! Darwin! How cool is that?

Apostrophe Catastrophe (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 07:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I am helping PP! People love Gravity and Evolution!

Davel (Davel), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 07:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Bwah hah hah! If I were still trying to keep track of the Excelsior thread, that would be one for it. "People love Gravity and Evolution!" should be my new .sig or something!

Apostrophe Catastrophe (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 07:39 (twenty-one years ago)

No kate loves that kind of thing & she is already definitely coming. ;-) Rainbow here we come eh kate!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 07:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Mmmmm, Rainbow. Yum! Watch the slippery stairs, though, or Gravity will get you!

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 07:41 (twenty-one years ago)

What time u thinking of coming over k?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 07:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Depends what time I get up, really! Probably sort of early to mid afternoon, so we can make the most of the sun. (Is it asking to much to assume there might be some sun in Cambridge in July?)

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 07:54 (twenty-one years ago)

well it has been lovely. I am sure the rain os only here because it is glastonbury & normal service will be resumed shortly. Text me when you're on the train then & I'll meet u at the station so u dont get lost!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 07:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Groovy! Will do!

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 07:59 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost to pink - well. wouldn't say I'm *from* Cambridge, but I do live here if that's what cha mean.

gizmo (gizmo), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 08:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah that's what I meant, whereabouts huh?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 08:56 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost: Cambridge is maths/sciences, Oxford is humanities/politics. That is the basic divide how I see it. Cambridge the city is quainter and more insular.

gizmo (gizmo), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I live near Histon & Huntington.

gizmo (gizmo), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:02 (twenty-one years ago)

roads that is. duh.

gizmo (gizmo), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:02 (twenty-one years ago)

my local is typically the Castle on castle hill if that helps? Not the closest, but the closest good pub.

gizmo (gizmo), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah yes I know it!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I would say that Cambridge also has a bit of a poetry edge as well!

Davel (Davel), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:12 (twenty-one years ago)

But I don't know much about how well Oxford fares in the poetry stakes

Davel (Davel), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:13 (twenty-one years ago)

It's s'posed to be a fun fap, although the poetry stuff might entice archel!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh no! I am AGAINST POETRY!!! Maybe we should have some scientific demonstrations to counteract the insidious influence!

(sorry, Archel!)

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:26 (twenty-one years ago)

K-we're all about the veggie food, not the poetry!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Scientific demonstrations involving vegetables are now urgent and key.

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

*mind boggling*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:41 (twenty-one years ago)

We could re-create Mendel (was it Mendel?) and his experiments with the peapods which discovered genetics! And then stir fry the peapods with a delicate garlic and peanut satay sauce...

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:45 (twenty-one years ago)

mmm peanut

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:46 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, that is making me hungry.

gizmo (gizmo), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Hasn't it come to light that Mendel's results were faked?

Davel (Davel), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Who cares? We're all about the peanut sauce now! Mmmm, saucy. Maybe Dirty Delays Boy can help stir the wok or something.

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm sure we could let him out of his box for satay sauce!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Box? Cruelty to boys! I thought we were keeping him in a net!

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 09:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I thought you'd want him out of the net asap & transfer him to a box where you leave him when you are not playing with him. ahem.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:01 (twenty-one years ago)

No, no, it would be cruel to keep him in a box! I'll keep him in the spare room with all the guitars and synths and recording equipment and things so he doesn't get bored or pine for me when I'm at work.

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:04 (twenty-one years ago)

spare room/box room!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

No, no, no, while Joe was away I cleaned all (most of, really) of the boxes out of the spare room. The ones that are left have bits of broken electronic equipment in them, so Dirty Delays Boy might like that!

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah i see, but will Joe like it?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Who cares? Grrrrrr.

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:20 (twenty-one years ago)

U need to find a new place with a nice basement area where you can keep all the DDB's you collect!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I have found a lovely new house with nooks and crannies and all! My friends are all trying to convince me to take the room with the en suite bathroom, but secretly I really want the one with the walk-in closet bigger than my office, so I can keep all my DDB's in there!

Keep your fingers crossed that it's all happened by the time the Cambridge FAP rolls around...

People love Gravity and Evolution! (kate), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:26 (twenty-one years ago)

oooh details, details!!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Oi! Stevem! Why is this FAP not on the diary?

I have had a financial windfall and now I want to punt!

(Though I must say I am somewhat disappointed in Ms. Panther's failure to bring my New Delays Boyfriend back from Glasto with her...)

:-(

My New Identity (kate), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 11:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Um, I forgot tried really I did. I thought Colette would be more successful being taller and all! ahem.
punting yay! rainbow cafe mmmmm!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 11:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I am auditioning for a new band tonight on the supposition that I can try to be all five members of Duran Duran at once. So boating seems urgent and key! (Hopefully no awful accidents, though.)

My New Identity (kate), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 11:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Uh huh! You written a reply yet lady? I need to know details!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry, I've been, err... mucking about on the Delays board. Heh.

My New Identity (kate), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 11:55 (twenty-one years ago)

BUMP Jst so you lot don't forget about this & plan other stuff in the next 2 weeks!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

We won't forget. On the 24 it's either going to my sister's Pimms barbequeue (aieeee there will be archery people and lawyers there, run away) or have fun in Cambridge. Gues which I'm planning on doing?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Is the Cambridge bash happening, on 24 July?

the bellefox, Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

you definitely wont forget if you're posting twice! ;-)
IF anyone needs a floor to sleep on, you're welcome!
x-post
yes!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 1 July 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

It's inked in my diary. I will not forget. I will be well behaved, in Pink's honour.

My New Identity (kate), Friday, 2 July 2004 07:55 (twenty-one years ago)

;-)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 2 July 2004 07:55 (twenty-one years ago)

are we gonna gt on the cocktails/shooters in Cambridge?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 2 July 2004 07:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh dear lord, temptation, get thee behind me! How can I handle a boat while plastered? Are you *trying* to turn me into Simon LeBon?

My New Identity (kate), Friday, 2 July 2004 08:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Nah, first the punts & a few shnifters, then we move onto bigger & better things!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 2 July 2004 08:06 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 16 July 2004 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

My god! A FAP in the sordid little town that I call my home, on the one weekend all July that I can't make it! I am actually weeping.

jngpng, Friday, 16 July 2004 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

aw man!

as mentioned elsewhere i'd love to attend that weekend or any other.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 16 July 2004 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

punt punt punt.

gizmo (gizmo), Friday, 16 July 2004 18:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I can come still! (I will not inflict poetry on anyone.) I have to consult my other Cambridge connections though, as I plan to make a proper trip of it - off work the following week woo!

Archel (Archel), Monday, 19 July 2004 08:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I get more excited by the day!

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Monday, 19 July 2004 08:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Screw my budget, I plan on just having the best time ever.

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Monday, 19 July 2004 08:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Minor threadjack, sorry:

Kate, still intending going to Skinny Puppy tonight?

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 19 July 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think so. I'm exhausted in so many ways. 'Twould have been fun, but I just don't feel up to it.

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Monday, 19 July 2004 09:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Fairy nuff, these things happen.

As you were then, you lucky chaps going to Cambridge.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 19 July 2004 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

So - can we have an update on meeting points and times Etc?

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 19 July 2004 10:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I would contemplate it, Aldo, but stuff has really exploded at my job, as well. There's only so much I can handle all at once! Have a good time, though, and post about how the show was - I'm sure Kaliflwr would love to hear your experiences!

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Monday, 19 July 2004 10:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Dudes, what time/where we meeting? If London people want to travel together, I have annual gold card so can provide cheapo travel (a tenner) for up to three other people.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 19 July 2004 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

What time are ppl wanting to come down (or up as it should be) here then?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 19 July 2004 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd like to get there for about lunchtime-ish. I don't think I'll be out for the night though as I have to attend something back home. Is this a problem?

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 19 July 2004 13:50 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a plethora of trains and it takes about 45 mins from King's Cross (much longer from Liverpool St.), those trains leaving on the quarters past and to the hour. How early do people want to get up?

LONDON KINGS CROSS 10:45 Train WEST ANGLIA GRT NORTHERN RAIL
CAMBRIDGE STATION 11:30
DURATION: 0:45

or

LONDON KINGS CROSS 11:15 Train WEST ANGLIA GRT NORTHERN RAIL
CAMBRIDGE STATION 12:02
DURATION: 0:47

for example.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 19 July 2004 14:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Not a problem for me, but it depends what time ppl are coming to Cambridge. To be honest I'm not even sure who is coming.

Oh and me and robster, naturellement. I can't face the sister's barbie, even if Joanna Lumley turns up (she lives on the square, apparently).

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 19 July 2004 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I was there just this last weekend so can't do this.

Enrique (Enrique), Monday, 19 July 2004 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

funnily enough i am now going to be in Oxford this weekend, sorry folks - 'vercity face-off tho...

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 19 July 2004 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it best just to meet in a pub?

There is the Sauce Bar just down Station Road, or maybe the Swan on Mill Road, both of them are easy enough to get to from the Station.

Davel (Davel), Monday, 19 July 2004 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I've had to drop out of this one, by the way, as I've got a family event to attend. It will also involve boats and water, and I get to do it in London and get free booze and food into the bargain.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 19 July 2004 14:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Davel is a resident too Liz. Kate will probably already be in Cambridge. If you are coming by train we can meet you at the train station & escort you to the nearest pub after your long journeys or take you straight into town!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 19 July 2004 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

wow, remember yr C/D t-shirt steve. i'm the guy in the emo-spex.

Enrique (Enrique), Monday, 19 July 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I, and possibly my mate Linden will be there. Can someone who's going and knows what's happening please e-mail me their phone number so we don't miss everyone? cheers!

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 19 July 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

DL, I'll be there with Kate & some others anyway, so don't panic!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 19 July 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I am probably going to come on the train from Brighton via London so could rendezvous at Kings Cross with the Londoners innit. Hence leaving at the slightly later end of the morning would be better for me, so I can get to the metropolis without rising at dawn.

Archel (Archel), Monday, 19 July 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay Archel, looking forward to saying hello in the flesh!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 19 July 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I've emailed you, DL. Text/ring me if you get lost!

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Monday, 19 July 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

My goodness, our fun is on the way to being organised.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 19 July 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I have to visit the train station to find out of the ridiculous price being thrown at me by nationalrail.com is actually correct. Might be getting the coach :(

Archel (Archel), Monday, 19 July 2004 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh no archel. I rememeber when we were gonna come to brighton the train price was awful! Hope you can still make it!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 07:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay from kings cross omg wtf 5 mins bus from my house yippie!

if anyone needs pre/post-cambridge accomodation there's the couch of course.

although there may possibly have been asssex going on on that couch (that gear! thread makes me paranoid about these things), i'll check for trucker hats. the floor should be safe, though.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm still only a maybe. if i come, it'll be just for the day and i'll be leaving early-ish. i'll see how tired/poor/ill i am later in the week...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 09:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I like the way I was in CAPITAL LETTERS.

I am interested in Daplyn's GOLD CARD.

I wonder whether the Vicar & Rener are interested in the trip.

the camfox, Tuesday, 20 July 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

so Pink, the thinking is 1-2 pm meeting at a pub on south side of town near station? perhaps punting around 2-4?

gizmo (gizmo), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 12:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Who's thinking? I reckon I'll meet the guys at the station & take em to the swan on mill road for one or several, then meander on into town & punt when we get there!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Good thinking PP! The Swan is easy for any late comers to find as well.

Davel (Davel), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 13:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Uh Huh!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 13:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Task for between now and Friday then: decide on which train we are getting from King's Cross. Think we can manage it? Hm.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 13:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Archel, let me know if you are catching the bus & we'll meet u at the bus station or thereabouts! Oh & everyone else, if someone could let me know what time your train will be getting to cambridge I would be grateful!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

is the weather supposed to be nice? it'd certainly encourage me to get my ass to kings x (waiting for hooker jokes here) if i thought it'd be beautiful punting weather...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll check!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

It says it's going to be sunny all day!! yay!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/whereilive/yourarea/

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

but colette you only live like 10 mins bus away from kings x too?

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, Colette, it's not exactly a long busride, is it? :-P

Come down for the day. It will be beautiful. I am starting to get really, REALLY excited now. Not just mildly excited like I was before!

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Wednesday, 21 July 2004 06:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I should be there by 1 or 2 depending on what train I get which depends on what time I get up which depends on how pissed I get the night before. It's okay though because I vaguely know my way around Cambridge.

dog latin (dog latin), Wednesday, 21 July 2004 09:16 (twenty-one years ago)

So what's happening then?

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 22 July 2004 07:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Is Missus Archel getting the bus into London/all the way to Cambs? If the former the train time depends on her arrival in town. Otherwise, say the 12:15 train from King's X, getting in 13:00?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 22 July 2004 07:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Cool with me. Any chance someone can let me know what time traing y'all are def getting?

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 22 July 2004 08:01 (twenty-one years ago)

i will aim to get on the one that gets in at 12:51

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 22 July 2004 08:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I am going to get the train all the way I think, but I have to change at Kings X anyway so I could meet y'all there for the 12.15 Liz.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 22 July 2004 09:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Rah! I might bring carrot cake for the train.

/mum

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 22 July 2004 09:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Have cake, will travel!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 22 July 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 08:08 (twenty-one years ago)

This is tomorrow ppl, any late comers? Or are y'all gonna be far too offended by my use of yet another smiley?

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 08:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I was gonna say "But... but... this is TODAY, people," but then realised that it's just me and PinX0r having our own private FAP tonight, yippee skippee yay! Hurrah for Liz's cakes. Save some for us, please! Your cakes are YUMMY!!!

I'm really excited. I've packed my pink dress and everything. And sandals, too, so I hope it's warm!

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 08:13 (twenty-one years ago)

It's due to be hot today & tomorrow, so sandles ahoy! mmmm carrot cake might ease my sickness. ;-)

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 08:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Hurrah! Well, hurrah for sun, not hurrah for you being sick. That suX0rs. I hope you feel better, and soon!

(I'm also happey coz I've found out that Sonic Boom is playing in London on Monday, what a whole week of joy!)

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 08:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, god, I just realised, though... I hope it's not awkward, and I hope SB doesn't remember me as Joe's girlfriend and ask where he is or anything like that, argh. :-(

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 08:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Hopefully we will not scoff the whole cake on the train. Ooh it looks like it's going to be nice tomorrow raah!

Have you got access to any ginger tea (or even biscuits) Pink? It's v good for stomach upsets.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 23 July 2004 08:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, try really minty chewing gum, that always settles my stomach, too.

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 08:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think so, not ginger. Every other kind of tea but not ginger it would appear. hm. I feel a bit better now, phew!
Kate-don't worry bout SB, things happen!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 08:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not actually worried. If anything, SB was so stoned in Hull that I'm not even sure he'd remember me, let alone as Joe's gf. Mainly, I'm just excited about the show. I'm glad he's playing live a lot again.

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 08:25 (twenty-one years ago)

does anyone have a rough idea of how much the return train from london costs? will look it up if nobody knows off the top of their heads, but i figure someone else has already done the research...

colette (a2lette), Friday, 23 July 2004 08:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it's roughly £20.

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 08:44 (twenty-one years ago)

bear in mind that liz has her gold card so that'll get you 25% off :)

have a nice day kids :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 23 July 2004 08:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Shame you can't come Mr C!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 09:00 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm going to apologise in advance for my impunctual and deshevelled arrival as i will have been pissed the night before.

dog latin (dog latin), Friday, 23 July 2004 09:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Hooray!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 09:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I just went to that Rainbow menu on the site you sent me, PinX0r, and my mouth is watering already! What do you mean, I have to wait eight hours?

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 09:10 (twenty-one years ago)

haha. Look at the deserts K!!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 09:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm trying NOT to look at the deserts...

D'oh. I just did a dumb thing. I just emailed Joe to ask if he was going to the Sonic Boom show. Because, really, I just wanted to know in advance, so I could emotionally prepare myself if he's going to be there. But then I just realised that it's entirely possible he didn't know about it, and that I've just tipped him off to its existence.

I just had this NIGHTMARE about walking in and being confronted with him and his New Screw, and that thought made me actually want to throw up. I want to avoid that at costs.

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 09:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Hm tricky one, we'll talk about that one later!!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Gah, I shouldn't have done that. Because he will think it's me trying to initiate a conversation, when really, I was going to let him come to me if and when he felt like talking out a resolution/closure.

But I just SOOOOOO do NOT want to walk in and see him there with a New Screw. That's the sort of thing Hasbeen would have done quite deliberately. I'd hope that Joe would have more sense, and would stay away, because he knows what a big SB fan I am and wouldn't hurt me, but sometimes boys can be so oblivious...

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 09:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry, I'm derrailing. Roll on Cambridge. I'll go look at the deserts menu.

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh my - it is absolutely urgent and key that we get some grub from the Rainbow Cafe. The food there is absolutely incredible. Plus instead of ketchup, they put hot chili sauce on the tables! SCHLURP!!!

dog latin (dog latin), Friday, 23 July 2004 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

We're going tonight DL!!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

:-( I can't make it. I'm gigging at a party. Nuts! Oh well, I may just have to get my lunch there on Saturday all the same.

dog latin (dog latin), Friday, 23 July 2004 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh if we really have to!! :-)
Aslong as we have pimms on Saturday I don't mind! Oh & cocktails k!!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh no, I just hope that Colette comes along now, because I hate Pimms! But I'm down with coctails.

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:05 (twenty-one years ago)

oh god, pimms. danger! danger!

colette (a2lette), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

You know you want it!

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Colette dude, a cheap day return is £10.90 with any kind of railcard inc. annual gold card. I've got a YP railcard as well, so up to four other people can use my gold card if they like. Err I think you probs have to travel together there and back though to do that.

I hope you have the drinking and punting plan well in hand, natives! I demand punt wars! Mmmmm drunkenly poling down a river, what could possibly go wrong...?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:08 (twenty-one years ago)

NOW I KNOW WHAT I FORGOT!!!! MY HAT!!! OH NO!!!!

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

is it worth me looking into getting mine very own railcard? i figure i'll be leaving earlier than other people, and don't want to break up the party for the sake of saving some pounds. how do i get a railcard? and how are you so special that you have a GOLD card?!

for those that haven't heard yet, i took a bottle of pimms to the barbecue last weekend and nobody else wanted any so i had the whole bottle by myself. oh dear god.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Right, the plan as far as I'm aware is meet you guys at the train station & escort you to the nearest pub!! Then either grab a bus or walk into town to the punting place. I haven't booked or anything because there are always so many ppl asking if we want to go punting of a sat, I figure we'll be alright! If we have to wait for a punt then, oh no, well just have to chill by the river drinking!! How does that sound then ladeez & gents?

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I am leaving work soon woo! Whole week off! I think I get into Kings X about 11.45 tomorrow so I will mill around and hopefully I'll find the train people. Hm, I will also text you Liz as milling around Kings X can be rather ineffective. See you tomorrow guys, can't wait!

(Oh my friend G might come along at some point, and he can get us cheap punting I believe...)

Archel (Archel), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

It's just a perk of having an annual travelcard innit. Not worth it getting a railcard for one trip. If you're planning on railing a lot this year then get a network railcard - oh hang on, are you 26 or younger? If so YP is the way to go.

xpost to Colette.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll just re-iterate the offer of floor space should anyone require it on Sat evening!
x-post cool archel, that will help as punting is real expensive! Oh & bring cameras ppl. Surely alcohol & rivers is gonna be a great camera opportunity!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

am 27, so that's out. but might spend the £20. looks like if i do more than three trips in the next year it'll save me money, so i might do it. then again i'm really lazy, so maybe not!

where are people meeting at kings x tomorrow? i may wake up and just not be able to face a train journey, but it'd be nice to spend a day in the sun and stuff, so i'd like to try to make it out...

colette (a2lette), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I will text you tomorrow AM and tell you what a fun time we are having, sitting in the sun drinking beer (or Pimms) and lemonade, and then you'll feel really left out if you can't face the journey, Colette!

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

You gotta come colette, you just gotta! Could you face a train journey tonight?

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:34 (twenty-one years ago)

nope, i'm going to the hayward gallery to look at portraits and listen to bands and stuff. but thanks for the invite!

colette (a2lette), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Just found out if youy punt up river from Cambridge to Grantchester (a couple of miles) There is a nudist camp.

Davel (Davel), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:58 (twenty-one years ago)

We should go to grantchester for a picnic, it's really cool there, apart from the nudists!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I have just spent the entire luchtime drinking quite strong Pimms (with full and proper borage) and now wish I was coming to Cambridge tomorrow to drink it with you all.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Come along then!!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Unless of course you aren't in the UK, which, if not, i wouldnt bother!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Aldo is so in the UK! Come to Cambridge, Aldo!

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Bristol to Cambridge is a bit awkward (over 4 hours travel and too late for Apex tickets). Shame really.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, yeah, true. Sorry, I didn't realise you lived sooo far West.

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:47 (twenty-one years ago)

is network railcard only £20? that's only £2 more than the YP railcard.

god i have to find mine.

p.s. if there are any alcoholic beverages that people don't want tomorrow i'd be glad to help consuming them!

p.p.s. same goes for food.

see yous for the 12:15 kings x train then i'll even be there EARLY for a change omg!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Erm, when i said £20 i meant for a day's return ticket to cambridge!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

It would cost me £60. To get the 1215 train with everybody I would need to leave home well before 10am, and leave before 5 to get home at night (with 4 changes of train, which might be a suspect proposition after a few v. large Pimms. Poopantsplop.

I will definitely make one some time.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 23 July 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.railcard.co.uk/network/network.htm

a network railcard is £20 for a year, and you save £6 on this trip with it...

colette (a2lette), Friday, 23 July 2004 12:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah that's ok then, I didn't know if you were quoting the £10 I said!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 12:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh actually bloody hell if anyone wants a network railcard anyone (like me!) with a gold card can buy them one for a measly quid! Hot stuff eh? If this is all going to happen tmro you better turn up early eh Ken boyo. Etc.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 23 July 2004 12:25 (twenty-one years ago)

See here for information on why I am so swanky.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 23 July 2004 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh swanky lady get you! ;-)

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 12:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Might not be necessary thanks to Liz's Gold Card swankiness but 3 of you can travel on my Network Card as well. Yay!

robster (robster), Friday, 23 July 2004 12:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Holy crap, we're in discount city.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 23 July 2004 12:53 (twenty-one years ago)

It's even better than Food City. Or Furniture Village.

robster (robster), Friday, 23 July 2004 12:54 (twenty-one years ago)

not as good as world of leather though...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 23 July 2004 12:59 (twenty-one years ago)

i have my own YP travelcard thanks :)

colette you should totally get the network card in that case (be it £20 or £1). a few months back one trip to glasgow paid for my entire railcard.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:00 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost "everything 99p" on seven sisters road pwns them all.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:01 (twenty-one years ago)

i bought my whole scally outfit there.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:02 (twenty-one years ago)

wow! i'm coming just because i can save £19 by hanging out with liz! (don't remind me about the money i'll spend on the train, the booze, the food, the punt, etc)

that sounds like a fantastic deal. although i suppose i should sulk that i'm too old to get a YP card anymore, or something.

so we're getting the 12:15 train, right, not meeting at 12:15? is it worth getting there extra early if there's going to be network card buying and stuff?

colette (a2lette), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:07 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, no idea how busy king x station will be so it's best to be there 30 mins early (if it's anything like victoria station then an hour before isn't insensible - e.g. my last before last trip to brighton)

ken c (ken c), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay! Yay! Yippee skippee yay, Colette is coming!

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Yup. We'll try to get there 11:30 or so. Hang out by ticket machines?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:12 (twenty-one years ago)

pp can we see nudies pleeeeease - if not at the weekend then soooon real soon

dave this isnt a dogging spot is it??

(oh and you shouyld all meet at platform 9 3/4 - if only to interfere with the photo takers

james (james), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:12 (twenty-one years ago)

not only that but the cambridge trains tend to go from the very far left side (as you look at the big departure board opposite smiths), which is worth giving yrself an extra couple of minutes for.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

have you seen the "what you look like" thread???! we'd just encourage phototakers

xpost

ken c (ken c), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, there are always ppl taking picks of the harry potter platform sign! You have to go through the station past the steps where charlie had a heartattack shouting 'zoe!' (ala eastenders) and round to the left! simple innit!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:26 (twenty-one years ago)

We'll see the nudies another time hun!!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:26 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, so i'll be turning up around 11:30-11:45 and looking for liz and rob at the ticket machines. damn, i thought i had liz's phone number, i'll email you mine now-- am leaving soonish and won't be on the computer again soon. if anyone wants to give liz my number, please feel free to do it!

colette (a2lette), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm bored, I'm bored, I'm bored... an hour and fifteen minutes until I can leave. What can I do to kill time? Maybe I should fill out my timesheet or something.

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Look at the rainbow menu deserts!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

No, coz that will make me HUNGRY!

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 23 July 2004 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, I am on my way out the door... NOW!!!

Ma$onic Boom (kate), Friday, 23 July 2004 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 25 July 2004 08:01 (twenty-one years ago)

(thx pinx0r for fabulous fappage!)

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 25 July 2004 08:02 (twenty-one years ago)

wow, there is no photographic evidence that i was there...apparently ken only decided to take his camera out once i'd left and he couldn't be ashamed that his camera is bigger than mine again :)

had a lovely day, and was so sad i had to miss the punting! looks like it (and the curry and everything) was great fun, and i probably should have stayed since i had fun with my friends but we didn't enjoy the club at all! oh well, roll on next week's ilx excitement...

colette (a2lette), Sunday, 25 July 2004 10:00 (twenty-one years ago)

aw oops i only remembered i had the camera after we got on the boat! (It could be the size things playing in my subconscience though)

i actually took some pictures of colette but they were so BORING! i had to exclude them from the photoalbum ;)

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 25 July 2004 11:48 (twenty-one years ago)

(kidding)

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 25 July 2004 11:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Did you and Robster cringe at your fashion faux-pas of turning up in the same t-shirt, ken?

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 25 July 2004 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)

and here we are!!

whereas mine was COMMODORE. haha.

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 25 July 2004 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

To be fair, you can't see that from the pictures.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 25 July 2004 12:07 (twenty-one years ago)

they were just being all color-coordinated so we could spot them easier among all the cambridge tourists.

xp - colette looks like she is a bit overdressed for the weather in her gang shot. amazes me what some people will do to be cool these days.

gizmo (gizmo), Sunday, 25 July 2004 12:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I probably have some of colette but they won't be developed (yes, developed) till about 2006 probably.

dog latin (dog latin), Sunday, 25 July 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

It would appear that I don't exist either Colette!

Davel (Davel), Monday, 26 July 2004 06:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha ha, I'm going off to look at the photos now... I hope I exist...

Super Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 26 July 2004 07:07 (twenty-one years ago)

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 07:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Ken and I obv share a superior sense of style. Hurrah for PinXor, what an excellent day. Punting roX0rz!

Haha! I've only just remembered the Patrick Moore argument.

robster (robster), Monday, 26 July 2004 07:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Ken C also shares our sense of style, heh heh. Raspberry Rocks!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 26 July 2004 07:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Matt, you were missed dude!!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 07:38 (twenty-one years ago)

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 08:06 (twenty-one years ago)

How many times do I have to tell you people? The State Bird of Michigan is the MOSQUITO!!!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Monday, 26 July 2004 08:07 (twenty-one years ago)

amazes me what some people will do to be cool these days.

i was just trying to demonstrate what michiganders live in for 4 months of the year!

(i never should have put that picture up anywhere, should i? sigh. two hours of sleep, loads of mud, freezing air and echoes of pete b yelling 'save a horse, ride a cowboy!' in my head made for a crabby me. and a funny picture.)

colette (a2lette), Monday, 26 July 2004 08:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I heard PinXor's selling drgs to kids - so did an entire Indian restuarant's clientele ;-) best moment of the day!

*gulp*

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 08:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude you should have come too, sorry you missed it!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:10 (twenty-one years ago)

:-(

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:10 (twenty-one years ago)

DL dude, when you next coming down to Cambridge to help me sell drugs to kids go out & get drunk again?

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Anytime really - I'm only a few train stops away. It's a shame the fucking trains go back so early though. I found this factor hindered a lot of my social life back at Hills Road as I could rarely go out and do what everyone else was doing.

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

and also doglatin dodges ticket fares regularly.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Yup, it's a drag alright, but you're welcome to stay over if needs be!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey that was my first FAP!

Good meeting everyone!

Was going to come for curry but we managed to lose Lucy's bag and I had to spend the evening breaking into my house and cancelling mobile phones and credit cards, while Lucy had a little sleep!

Other than that though, had a lovely time!

Davel (Davel), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:26 (twenty-one years ago)

sent you a mail, pink.

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Which address? take out the 'est' as in 'Pinkestpanther' part!!!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

d'oh - no i didn't, it bounced back! I'm sure I wrote it properly.

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

ok

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:53 (twenty-one years ago)

right - that should have got to you now.

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Nowt yet dude, but I'll let you know!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 09:57 (twenty-one years ago)

should have gotten there. it didn't bounce this time.

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 26 July 2004 10:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Got it & a reply is on it's way!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh yeh - Liz, have you got a problem? I'm serious, is there a problem?!!

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 26 July 2004 12:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Um, have i missed something?

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 12:20 (twenty-one years ago)

WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM, LIZ?

ken c (ken c), Monday, 26 July 2004 12:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Liz's problem is that she cannot physcially make enough cake for all of us greedy gutted gits!!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 12:25 (twenty-one years ago)

in-joke explained: Liz'n'Rob got yelled at by some pikey woman on the way back to the station for walking on the same bit of pavement she was on or something. It was pretty retarded.

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 26 July 2004 12:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Liz was also being a trouble maker on our way back to the train station.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 26 July 2004 12:29 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost

ken c (ken c), Monday, 26 July 2004 12:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, phew! Yeah Liz, what IS your problem?!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 12:29 (twenty-one years ago)

it was a cuddling pikey couple, liz walked past and i think the girl noticed how drunk liz was and wondered whether she had an alcohol problem.

and so she proceeded to keep shouting "HEY HAVE YOU GOT A PROBLEM???" "HAVE YOU GOT A PROBLEM????!" "HEY, HAVE YOU GOT A PROBLEM" even after we were long gone. haha, or maybe her job is to think up subject lines for spam e-mails.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 26 July 2004 12:32 (twenty-one years ago)

nice to know the people of Cambridge are so concerned with their visitors' welfare.

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 26 July 2004 12:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha eep. She also continued to yell for a good 5 minutes , her continued shouts of 'IT'S HER WHO'S GOT THE F#CKING PROBLEM' ringin behind us as we walked away giggling. Her bloke looked very embarrassed, poor mite.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 26 July 2004 12:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Ahhh Mill road piss heads, you gotta love 'em! Liz you are welcome back anytime!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 13:04 (twenty-one years ago)

It didn't look like you had a problem when I left but then Curry can do strange thing to people.

Davel (Davel), Monday, 26 July 2004 13:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Random shouty people are funny. It's like there's a little bit of Portsmouth in every town.

robster (robster), Monday, 26 July 2004 13:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha, I love shouty ppl!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 13:09 (twenty-one years ago)

DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM PINX?

ken c (ken c), Monday, 26 July 2004 13:12 (twenty-one years ago)

DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM KEN?

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

IT'S ME WHO'S GOT THE F@*KING PROBLEM!!

sorry, I'm new at this

robster (robster), Monday, 26 July 2004 13:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahaha!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 13:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it was Archel I was telling about the time I nearly got a cigarette stuck through my retina for the deathly crime of "giggling" somewhere down Mill Road.

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 26 July 2004 13:27 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd be impressed if they actually managed to stick a cigarette through someone's retina.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 26 July 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

That's Mill Road for you!
The drunks aren't allowed to hang out on mill road anymore which means you have a lesser chance of getting stabbed now!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 13:32 (twenty-one years ago)

But the downside of that is you aren't going to have "Eye of the tiger" sang tou you when you pass the public toilets

Davel (Davel), Monday, 26 July 2004 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

don't you guys wish that you'd had me to walk you to the train station? (after my demonstration of how i can turn into a mean thug in the blink of an eye outside that pub/cinema earlier)

colette (a2lette), Monday, 26 July 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I must have missed this whilst on a loo break!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Monday, 26 July 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

me too - do tell!

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 26 July 2004 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

i couldn't come this weekend but i would've liked to. hello to liz and rob and ken! hope you had a good time punting etc. hello also to pinkpanther and to james. my name is matt (boyf of archel and person in my own right) and i also know the roo. rachel gave him the note today. i will see him tomorrow and will give him the address for ken's photos.
hope to see you all soon in brighton...
matt.

what what what (what?), Monday, 26 July 2004 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Matt, we'll have to organise another meet up soon so that you can come along too! (either that or we might finally get to Brighton!) I can't believe you two know roo, it's so funny! Not sure if you have this week off too, but hope you both have a lovely week! please pass my hugs onto Archel!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 07:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh hello Matt. Have we lured you into our web of mentalism or is this a one-off?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 08:39 (twenty-one years ago)

were pink and dl asking for details of me turning into a thug, or something else?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Yup! we wanted to know what happened to mild mannered colette to turn you into a thug?!!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 09:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes please, tell us your tales of loutism.

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

it was only a demonstration, actually. apparently, you picked a pub notorious for evening brawls, according to gizmo. i pointed out that simply by the fact of being american, we can seem much scarier and aggressive to people here. and pretended like i was mad at liz by saying some nonsense that was remarkably similar to 'you got a fucking problem? well back the fuck up! i'm serious!' which nearly made her cry.

maybe it's just because i'm tall?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 09:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe you are just a big meanie! *runs away scared*

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, say that again and i'll kick your ass!

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Blimey, I forgot about that C. Maybe I do have a problem - that pisshead on Mill Road certainly thought so.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 09:46 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, colette was relishing her agro side just a bit too much. the hidden gang-banger is her is yearning to come out. its only a matter of time before she starts pimpin hos and gacking people.

gizmo (gizmo), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 09:47 (twenty-one years ago)

*cries*

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

nah, it's just me picking up my old superhero alterego of 'the feminist avenger'...i thought i explained this, but can't remember-- i only get that way when i'm dealing with slimy guys that touch me or my friends. and only after repeated warnings. i think slimy men deserve to be taught a lesson, and i think i do an ok job at it!

excuse me, i need to go pimp my ride now.

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 11:05 (twenty-one years ago)

right you are. I'm just blantantly mangling the truth for fun and profit.

gizmo (gizmo), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 12:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I've seen both Pimp Colette and Feminist Avenger Colette in action, and neither the insane old guy from the Chapel Bar nor the random American girl from the One Tun have been seen since...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 12:11 (twenty-one years ago)

aw the insane old guy = my bf!

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 12:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm just blantantly mangling the truth for fun and profit.

doesn't this make you a bit of a pimp, yourself?

i wonder if ken's bf will be there thursday, and if he'll try to touch me again! wow, such excitement awaits...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 12:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Touch my bum, don't be shy!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 12:58 (twenty-one years ago)

aw was he touching you last time colette? i was wondering why he's gone all cold on me last month :(

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 13:04 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, he touched my (bare) shoulder several times. first i just said 'don't touch me' and then 'seriously, don't touch me' and then 'get the fuck off me, old man, or i'll take you outside and kick your ass!' he left me alone, and the bartender gave me props for it (and said if i had problems again that he would chuck k'sbf at any time)

so, yeah, i think you may have lost him to the other side, ken :)

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Also we may have wrong-footed the sly old dog by moving Club FT from Wednesday to Thursday. Thursday is his crochet and knitwear evening class at Islington College.

Although on Tuesdays the Chapel runs a night called 'Ethnic Grind' which might be right up his alley.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

right up his alley
So to speak!! ;-)

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 13:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Ethnic Grind

wtf? this is ENGLAND! ENGLISH PEOPLE CAN'T GRIND! it's been proven by science!

i guess they added the 'ethnic' bit because it was only foreigners?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 14:29 (twenty-one years ago)

welcome to the rest of the day in heck. is it not for the koi company? i wonder if i can get that music on soulseek so I can play it all the time really loud in people's ears.

Curses. It was the 'Don't Try It' sticker. I would weep with laughter if I wasn't so knackered.

Errrrr... am I dancing, or am I demonstrating the correct way to dispose of a wasp to Ken?

I just realised that I am actually applying sunscreen.

Even though I look stupid, I'm just pleased because you can tell how much weight I've lost between that photo and the one a few weeks earlier at Lauren FAP.

(Please! Someone else confirm that I look like I've lost weight!)

one year passes...
I didn't get to go last year and would very much like to have a punt this summer. Anyone else interested? Possibly on the first weekend of September?

There's another thread for this somewhere... and it can't be the first weekend in September as I have a gig! (Plus, argh, we are trying to line up other boating for another weekend, argh.)

x-post
