it was one of those articles whose contents were clear from the first couple of sentences. also his analogy doesn't really work - is he seriously suggesting that saddam hussein isn't a mass murderer? also it has that smug tone of the worst guardian/observer comment pieces - it's the kind of piece that makes me embarassed to be a guardian/observer reader, really.

You should already be embarressed to be a guardian/observer reader. The very names make me embarressed. Who are they guarding us from? Why are they just observing.

If this had been in the Mirror we'd all be saying "patronising little sod".

nine years pass...

Reading his _Barbarians_ now, and I like his conversational writing style. I've seen some of his series(or at least, the ones you can torrent), and read some columns, but this is the first time I've read one of his proper books.
