There are some soundtracks that I would have thought were in dollar bins everywhere but which weren't. Top Gun and Karate Kid are two soundtracks I spent a lot of time tracking down. I was disappointed that the Top Gun soundtrack didn't have more instrumental bits, and it didn't have any plane-to-plane intercom talking.

i'm always on the lookout for cool soundtracks but am afraid my top wants don't exist:

Frogs (Les Baxter mooginess, my dream version has the music buried in frog croaks ala Quiet Village)

The Cool Ones (bad froogadelic-a-go-go rock'n'roll musical from 1967, w/ The Leaves and Mrs. Miller!)

Hardbodies

Ishtar

i think soundtracks are one of the great bargains in collecting. you can get amazing stuff for cheap. amazing MUSIC. and audiophile-wise, they are right up there with classical records a lot of the time. it amazes me when i get something in that i've NEVER seen and that looks and sounds so cool will often sell for, like, 6 bucks online. they are similar to classical in that way too.
