Fingers crossed.

only watched 7 minute highlights of the Celtic game from Sunday but honestly from an attacking point of view the bhoys looked "class" - albeit against Hamilton who might finally get relegated this season (fingers crossed).

Took us all of one game to fuck up COVID bubbles to protect football.

2 Aberdeen players tested positive and 6 others isolating after a trip to the city centre pubs following their match on Saturday. Game with St Johnstone off.

Footballers. Honestly. Clowns.

The Scottish government is warning that it could call a halt to the football season after a Celtic player breached coronavirus rules.

Boli Bolingoli admitted he played in Sunday's match against Kilmarnock despite having recently returned from Spain without quarantining.

オニモ (onimo), Tuesday, 11 August 2020 09:18 (three years ago) link

Griffiths in the COVID bad boy's club too but we already knew what a dick he was.

Mud... jam... failure (aldo), Tuesday, 11 August 2020 20:28 (three years ago) link

We also had Rangers going ahead with a bounce game against Motherwell with 9 (iirc) players awaiting test results and therefore not cleared to play.

Given what we know of Scottish football's ability to govern itself and given how many Riordan, O'Connor, Griffiths, etc. types there are (I see a pattern and it's not just their barbers 😀) I think the chances of getting through the season without wee Nicola pulling the plug are slim to none.

オニモ (onimo), Tuesday, 11 August 2020 20:40 (three years ago) link

bolingoli is one of those players you expect is a numpty based on how he plays. id drum both him and racist leigh out of cp right now if it were possible

think there might actually be a title-race this year if Celtic's early season form is any indication, although the Morelos situation is obviously a big issue for rangers, he really dug them out of a hole constantly last season

rascal clobber (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 27 August 2020 20:43 (three years ago) link

hard to replace goals, even though he never scores against celtic. if we can hold on to edouard (unlikely) and get a CB, I'd fancy our chances. off season has been so compressed, with players training at home/alone over the summer, would expect them to get progressively better as match fitness comes on

||||||||, Thursday, 27 August 2020 20:46 (three years ago) link

aye, I fear for eddy. and the transfer windae doesn't slam-shut until October!

Yup. It's a shit excuse but I think without Boli's wee trip to Spain we'd have bern two matches sharper and fitter and good enough to win last night.

At the moment it looks like the best hope for Celtic is to win every Old Firm game because Rangers are just rolling over everyone else. It helps that they have the advantage of a one goal start in every game though with a guaranteed penalty for Tavernier. I doubt they can keep it up for an entire season. Fingers crossed anyway.

seems bad?

While all of the other members of the squad and backroom team have tested negative, we have been informed by the authorities that, having been deemed ‘close contacts’, Celtic manager Neil Lennon, assistant John Kennedy and 13 first-team players will be required to self-isolate on a precautionary basis as required by the current regulations.

Story gets weirder, from his younger brother, Alti's wiki page:

Chapman Pincher alleged that Atli was the owner of certain documents that might add further weight to the case against Roger Hollis, that Hollis was a Russian spy at the head of MI-5 in the UK.[8] As Pincher, who died in 2014, stated "I have been unable to extract a copy of the interrogation report from Atli", p. 603. The interrogation report was alleged by Pincher to have been written by his deceased father, Evald Mikson.

ailsa, Friday, 29 January 2021 17:22 (three years ago) link

cleaning house at the end of the season makes sense. a shame that the science of the management of football clubs doesn't really exist. in north american sports there's a real stress on the "front office" and all that that entails, and people get fired a lot more often for not doing a good job. it almost feels churlish to be mad at lawwell when he has presided over a lot of success, but the ronny deila and lennon appointments were dire, and there is always the feeling that significant things like bringing in the rat rodgers always come from desmond

Dusty Benelux (jim in vancouver), Friday, 29 January 2021 18:22 (three years ago) link

also of course the success when rangers weren't in the top division shouldn't be asterisked and you can only beat what's in front of you etc. but really any cunt could have presided over success in those years

two weeks pass...

the AP going for Mooy is an interesting rumour, he'd be a great signing I reckon but I'm slightly biased as he's the best Town player I have seen in my lifetime, as low a bar as that is. I think he'd have to take a pay cut because he's on super stupid megabucks at Shanghai and his brother recently died so idk if he'd want to be a couple of extra thousand miles away from home.

Mooy played for St Mirren right at the start of his career!

How good or otherwise is James Vincent? Can't say he stood out to me in the episodes of Sportscene I saw last season but maybe he just got short shrift in the edit

Well *I* know who he is (aldo), Saturday, 3 July 2021 11:05 (two years ago) link

In normal times I wouldn’t be that excited to be in a football stadium for a pre-season friendly (St Johnstone vs Preston North End), especially with last season’s cup successes, but it’s 2021 and I am mildly excited to be in a stadium for a pre-season friendly.

Just the matter of PSV Eindhoven or Galatasaray for Saints in Europa League QR3 for Saints (we get the loser of that tie, Celtic or Midtjylland get the winner).

"Celtic fan McGuire, 38 - who was hit with a footie ban and did jail time for punching police horses - denied knowledge of the mascot."
