(answering thread title's request here)

...because their singer isn't Karl Marx!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 11 July 2003 15:42 (twenty years ago) link

before you can judge his music you should go see a show it will change your opinion completely

How good could it be if I have to goto such great lengths to hear it properly? If he's so fucking brilliant, how come his records can't convince me? RAISE YOUR STANDARDS!

I was just thinking that this thread wasn't taking long enough to load - Let's add a bunch of pictures to it!

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 11 July 2003 15:46 (twenty years ago) link

Good to see you eddy , but calling them 'retards' will only flame their sheer hatred of DMB fans even more.
Readingthe whole thread i saw that a few people have at least heard the cds and watched them in concert. I respect their comments. But those who call DMB fans 'Yuppie Scum' 'Hippie Scum' 'Jocks' 'Date rapists ' etc I cannot.
Not very open minded about music despite the claims. You can keep your 'Alternative' bands to yourself if thats the sort of opinions some of you have.

Ruth (Ruth), Friday, 11 July 2003 15:46 (twenty years ago) link

date rapists?

Felcher (Felcher), Friday, 11 July 2003 15:49 (twenty years ago) link

Isn't DMB "Alternative"?

Jon Williams (ex machina), Friday, 11 July 2003 15:51 (twenty years ago) link

Ruth, you read the whole thread??

Siegbran (eofor), Friday, 11 July 2003 15:51 (twenty years ago) link

DMB were alternative before they sold out, now DMCB are the keepers of the true flame

James Blount (James Blount), Friday, 11 July 2003 15:53 (twenty years ago) link

They confused DMB with Limp Bisquick.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Friday, 11 July 2003 15:53 (twenty years ago) link

Ruth, you read the whole thread??

I think she's making that up - why else would she even consider that we cared about being open-minded!?

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 11 July 2003 15:55 (twenty years ago) link

You can keep your 'Alternative' bands to yourself if thats the sort of opinions some of you have.

Insufferably pious post of the month!!!!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 11 July 2003 15:56 (twenty years ago) link

"dave matthews band, comes alive, at the earth day festival, at a concert in brazil"

Felcher (Felcher), Friday, 11 July 2003 15:57 (twenty years ago) link

alternative to what?

eddy foley, Friday, 11 July 2003 16:01 (twenty years ago) link

Um, if it wasn't for "Alternative" music...where would DMB be right now?

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:02 (twenty years ago) link

since WHEN did we use the term, "hippie scum"?!

we here at ILX prefer the more sophisticated term of "those stinking hippie fucks like the one guy my buddy John had to room with freshman year before he moved out of South Quad".

please get your facts straight before you criticize.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:02 (twenty years ago) link

Ruth/ eddy -

I admire your spunk - but you're going to have to do a lot better than telling everyone to be open-minded.. Why don't you upload an mp3 section of a song that's a really good example of the band's talent.? Explain what makes them so great.. (Use technical terms.) Describe how/why some passage really is creative...

This thread is getting more boring than Dave Matthews hisself.

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:08 (twenty years ago) link

can any of the calvary confirm or deny the rumours vis a vis dave matthews bait choice whilst sheatfishing in the po river?

James Blount (James Blount), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:09 (twenty years ago) link

and do he like the crawdad?

Kingfish (Kingfish), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:13 (twenty years ago) link

yes, that also

James Blount (James Blount), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:15 (twenty years ago) link

blink.

I know what you're trying to do....

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:25 (twenty years ago) link

HAHA!

"I hate Dave Matthews because he USES KITTENS AS FISH BAIT."

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:26 (twenty years ago) link

So who gets the honour of the 100th post?

Terry Wogan, Friday, 11 July 2003 16:29 (twenty years ago) link

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:30 (twenty years ago) link

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:30 (twenty years ago) link

you mean 1000th?

Felcher (Felcher), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:31 (twenty years ago) link

Relax - we'll be at 2,000 by next wednesday.

I just didn't want it to be squandered on plain text. Although a picture of Chris Gaines might have been nice too.

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:32 (twenty years ago) link

Are there actually HREF's to this thread on DMB sites? If so I think some admin should toos some javascript that wraps this whole thread in a <MARQUEE> if you come from a DMB site.

Jon Williams (ex machina), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:48 (twenty years ago) link

Oh, that is INSPIRED!

Like this?

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:57 (twenty years ago) link

I happen to one of those twenty something yuppies

Is this something ANYONE says as a point of pride?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 11 July 2003 16:58 (twenty years ago) link

Jon Williams (ex machina), Friday, 11 July 2003 17:02 (twenty years ago) link

Like Nelson Muntz going "you like Dave Matthews Band! HA HA!"?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 11 July 2003 17:07 (twenty years ago) link

bah...I give up.
(and DMCB sucks rancid potato salad from a monkey's ass...I saw them in Myrtle Beach and almost cried)

Allison (Allison), Friday, 11 July 2003 17:45 (twenty years ago) link

...sucks rancid potato salad from a monkey's ass.

With language like that....THERE'S HOPE FOR YOU YET, ALLISON!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 11 July 2003 17:47 (twenty years ago) link

You're so patronizing, Alex! (Pot, Kettle, "black!")

J (Jay), Friday, 11 July 2003 17:51 (twenty years ago) link

I don't think that was criticism, J.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 11 July 2003 17:51 (twenty years ago) link

Neither was that. Damn, sometimes I'm too obtuse. Sorry.

J (Jay), Friday, 11 July 2003 17:53 (twenty years ago) link

Well you should have said something like "Mr. Pot welcomes Baby Kettle with open arms!" then. It's been a long day for me, I can't be expected to be on top of everything.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 11 July 2003 17:58 (twenty years ago) link

When I'm trying to sound patronizing,....YOU'LL KNOW IT!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 11 July 2003 18:00 (twenty years ago) link

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Friday, 11 July 2003 18:14 (twenty years ago) link

Longtime viewers will remember Bryan's last appearance on our show, where he asked us all if we ever really, really ever loved a woman, before getting a stern on-camera beatdown by a sizable contingent of our female staffers.

Well, the stitches are out, the reconstructive surgery has fully healed, and Bryan is back again.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Friday, 11 July 2003 18:18 (twenty years ago) link

Everything that ODB does, he does it for DMB.

J (Jay), Friday, 11 July 2003 18:52 (twenty years ago) link

"So, Bryan...here's your chance to plug your new record 'Heartbreaker' and a chance to talk about your old band Whiskeytown."

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Friday, 11 July 2003 19:07 (twenty years ago) link

"And Bryan, are you getting a lot of use out of those Junos, or do you just use them to scratch your ass? Have you gotten in a Juno Fight with Tom Cochrane yet?"

Kingfish (Kingfish), Friday, 11 July 2003 19:39 (twenty years ago) link
