You mean the one that Obama will use as a campaign song?

jaymc, Thursday, 6 December 2007 20:39 (sixteen years ago) link

He should use OPP, but change it to "you down with O-ba-ma?" I can't think of a response that would rhyme with 'ma' though.

stingy, Thursday, 6 December 2007 20:49 (sixteen years ago) link

Yep, John.

KitCat, Thursday, 6 December 2007 20:49 (sixteen years ago) link

jaymc, separate tracks would be pretty key. i don't use pro tools and i don't know what "dry recording stems" are (bad weed???), but wav files of the individual tracks would be ideal (and should be pretty simple).

Jordan, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:04 (sixteen years ago) link

Have we had this conversation before?

It's annoying when the boss says "Can you find me __________________" and you look and hunt and search and start to wonder if you threw it away or if it ever existed and finally you ask for help from the boss and then they come up with, "Oh, it's probably on my desk." And sure enough, there it is . :-/

Then I get a goofy stoner grin.

Jesse, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:05 (sixteen years ago) link

what would you do: if your neighbor's laundry was in the dryer, and you took it out to dry your stuff, would you fold that shit?

Jordan, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:06 (sixteen years ago) link

I think I wouldn't take it out of the dryer.

jaymc, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:07 (sixteen years ago) link

how long has it been in there?

chicago kevin, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:08 (sixteen years ago) link

if it's like, a day or 12 hours i'd say fuck it 'cause it's wrinkled anyway. if it's been an hour i wouldn't take it out either.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:08 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh yeah, I'm with Kevin.

jaymc, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:10 (sixteen years ago) link

i'd say an hour. he did NOT fold my shit and now i have some wrinkly shirts and and jeans. if i was going to do the same, i would have felt bad enough about messing with his stuff that i would have tried to fold it, at least.

Jordan, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:11 (sixteen years ago) link

the thing is, we were hanging out earlier that night, so he could have just asked me to take it out.

Jordan, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:11 (sixteen years ago) link

he's probably an ironer, and doesn't understand that my whole laundry strategy is based on taking it out while it is hot and folding/hanging it right away, thus obviating the need for ironing

Jordan, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:12 (sixteen years ago) link

i'm listening to the b0ld 0nes upcoming single on h0z@c records and it sounds fucking great. really good, sounds much much better than they do live and i like them as a live band.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:16 (sixteen years ago) link

My friend J3ss H0ff and her fiance Chr1s B3rz@c have got to know by now that the name they've adopted to refer to themselves as a couple is the same as a record label.

jaymc, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:27 (sixteen years ago) link

Anyway, can I get an Old Timers head count?

jaymc, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:27 (sixteen years ago) link

and was the unofficial name of a magazine for 7 years prior to being a label.

xpost.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:28 (sixteen years ago) link

I must be a bad neighbor then! I was doing a load the other night and the neighbor's clothes were sitting in the dryer. Their basket was right in front, so I saw no harm in taking the clothes out and putting them in the basket. I didn't think to fold them. He was holding up the joint! We only have one washer/dryer. However, I get really upset if I'm washing clothes and someone jumps in. They see my dirty clothes right in front and then they just put my wet clothes on top of the dryer or something and start their load. Then I have to stop my whole process and start again another day. So basically, if I see someone is in the process of doing a few loads, I just come back a different day.

i have heard a little of mucca pazza on their myspace but have not tried very hard to hear any more because when i looked on emusic for downloads and all they had was "live at l0llerpalooza" i gave up because that is not to my liking. (note i have been reading student writing all day and that makes me think in a runon sentence)

my students were so WHINY today! they were all like "the test is too LONG teacher" and then they finished like 45 min. early. It's a FINAL, y'all!

La Lechera, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:37 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm actually OK with removing wet clothes from the washing machine and putting them on the dryer. The way I figure, it's OK for wet clothes to sit out for a couple of hours (just not, like, overnight), and it's not like the person was going to put them back in the washing machine for any reason. Whereas with the dryer, you never know if the person wanted to throw them back in -- even if they feel totally dry, they may want to throw them in for another 10 minutes just to de-wrinkle them. Although, again, I agree with Kevin that it's probably OK if it's over an hour later.

jaymc, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:37 (sixteen years ago) link

peoples need to learn to use a timer when they do their laundry.

La Lechera, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:38 (sixteen years ago) link

(note i have been reading student writing all day and that makes me think in a runon sentence)

How is that a run-on sentence?

jaymc, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:39 (sixteen years ago) link

that is not a run on sentence

La Lechera, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:41 (sixteen years ago) link

One time a neighbor saw that we had taken his stuff out of the dryer and we noticed he put it BACK in the washer after this. He clearly didn't want anyone else touching his clothes (but I still don't think it's a bad thing to do). People should be aware when their stuff is done.

stingy, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:41 (sixteen years ago) link

the one before it is though and that makes me feel like i am going nuts but on the other hand this is how my students write all the time i don't know if this bothers me but sometimes it's depend. i'm agree!

La Lechera, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:42 (sixteen years ago) link

People should be aware when their stuff is done.
TIMER

La Lechera, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:42 (sixteen years ago) link

We all agree then, basically.
And for the record, I only really care about my wet clothes being put on top of the dryer when:
a) I had other loads waiting to be washed (which I realize is egocentric) and/or
b) the top of the dryer is filthy

KitCat, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:45 (sixteen years ago) link

thankfully we now have a washer/dryer in the apt, and it's a wonderful thing

stingy, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:45 (sixteen years ago) link

That does sound wonderful! Also, one day I'll have a dishwasher.

KitCat, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:46 (sixteen years ago) link

Our dryers are so old that you can't just pop in an extra quarter for 15 minutes or what-have-you. You'd have to pay another $1.50.

KitCat, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:47 (sixteen years ago) link

I don't think the run-on sentence you think is a run-on sentence is, in fact, a run-on sentence: it's just a long sentence with several conjunctions.

the one before it is though and that makes me feel like i am going nuts but on the other hand this is how my students write all the time i don't know if this bothers me but sometimes it's depend.

This turns into a run-in as soon as there's no punctuation or conjunction between "time" and "i," but it's OK before that (if poorly punctuated).

jaymc, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:49 (sixteen years ago) link

Ha, I mean "run-on" not "run-in."

"I had a run-in with a run-on."

jaymc, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:52 (sixteen years ago) link

AGH whatever
i know what a gd run on sentence is
i have to deal with this shit all day every day

La Lechera, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:52 (sixteen years ago) link

Sorry, don't mean to pick on you. This misuse of the term "run-on sentence" is just one of my pet peeves.

jaymc, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:53 (sixteen years ago) link

today i had to tell a student that in her letter to barack0bama she had to fix her spelling of "as"

SHE SPELLED IT "ASS"

I AM IN THE TRENCHES, SON

La Lechera, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:54 (sixteen years ago) link

here comes grizzled vet A.

dan m, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:55 (sixteen years ago) link

it's true
this girl is sassy as hell too. at the end of class she turned in her final said "i'm a lazy ass" and i was like, "is that with one 's' or two" and she laughed and said "two."

at least she laughed?

i'm sorry for fussing too. i'm just pretty gd sure that i know what a run on sentence is.

La Lechera, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:56 (sixteen years ago) link

what grade is this?

stingy, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:58 (sixteen years ago) link

I love your stories!

KitCat, Thursday, 6 December 2007 21:59 (sixteen years ago) link

honestly, i don't think it's entirely appropriate for me to talk about this online but sometimes i can't help it. "ass" is one of those things i have to share.

La Lechera, Thursday, 6 December 2007 22:00 (sixteen years ago) link

uh oh
i didn't mean that

La Lechera, Thursday, 6 December 2007 22:00 (sixteen years ago) link

fatal blunder: made

La Lechera, Thursday, 6 December 2007 22:02 (sixteen years ago) link

please don't

La Lechera, Thursday, 6 December 2007 22:02 (sixteen years ago) link

So just to clarify (I won't press the point further), do you still think the sentence about Mucca Pazza that you wrote was a run-on?
