Guitar riff from "Down by the River"
Also - and i attempted this one time - opening bar of Dennis Wilson's "Dreamer" slightly sped up.

Goddamit! I was going to suggest Menahan Street Band's 'Make the road by walking' because its really sample-worthy but I just found out Jay Z already used it. Argh-

^ Both the intro and the wicked horn section... tho it might be hard getting a clean sample out of the horn section since he's always singing on top of it.

Hate to do this to you:
(though it sounds like it's been replayed rather than directly sampled)
― chap, Sunday, 23 August 2009 22:17 (3 years ago) Permalink
fuuuuuuuuuck!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's not being replayed, it's a sample lifted from 'Quero Sambal Meu Bem' from Tom Ze as well. He uses the same riff in both songs.
That's it. I'm dropping off of university to pursue my dream of becoming a producer.
― Moka, Sunday, 23 August 2009 22:22 (3 years ago) Permalink
Sorry I meant 'Jimmy Renda-Se' not 'Quero samba meu bem'

This is a rad thread, btw.
I don't know how there isn't a 20-minute cosmic beats+echo edit of 10cc's "I'm Not In Love" out there. (Maybe there is, but I haven't found it yet.)
Once I thought I was really clever and sampled the drum intro to Amon Duul II's "Archangels Thunderbird" and sped it up to a dnb-ish tempo and it sounded really familiar. Has this break already done the rounds or does it just sound like a bunch of others?

Also, "Get The Money (Uncle Scrooge's Money)" from Mousercise.

Sampled by A Tribe Called Quest on a 12" version of Bonita Applebaum, but would love to hear it in yet another context. A big fan of those cheap flute synths.

Jan Hammer - Don't You Know
In the same vein as the Captain Beefheart and Dennis Wilson suggestions upthread (which I agree would make great samples).

It's funny that this topic has cropped up, because I was listening to some music on shuffle play earlier and 'Beggars Farm' by Jethro Tull came on (from the album This Was) and I was so tempted to sample and loop the intro.
