oh and on a more conventional cryadmoure tip = the "deelat seduction mix" of "crack head" ... uses the same disco loop as shakedown's "at night" but with a real melancholy slog of a beat, almost sounds like portishead gone filter disco when i'm in some moods, and the endless vocal sample (is it trina??) that goes "MY PUSSY AIN'T FREE" is a scream.

vahid (vahid), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 23:30 (8 years ago) Permalink

dj luccio: paradise (sandy wilhelm executive remix) - a bit overproduced in parts, with a gratuitous guitar riff, loud and bouncy but also very dancable because of that. the first minute sounds liek hafler trio with a disco beat which would be a great idea for an entire track i think.

jesus theres also strings in it. strings and guitar. and hafler trio.

Steve, what did you think of that Cut Copy remix?

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Thursday, 21 October 2004 13:18 (8 years ago) Permalink

can't seem to find that :( but that Naivepop Or Petitfool thing is fantastic :D

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Thursday, 21 October 2004 13:23 (8 years ago) Permalink

it's a bit bludgeoning, but it's not that bad I guess. maybe without Braxe he's nothing. that label's kind of crap but the Patrick Alavi Power/Glory 12 inch is really good.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 21 October 2004 13:24 (8 years ago) Permalink

oh i've found it now, will listen and respond

xpost

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Thursday, 21 October 2004 13:25 (8 years ago) Permalink

I was slightly taking the piss when I sent you that Plus-Tech Squeeze Box thing (because I really couldn't picture you getting into hyperactive Japanese tech-blender-pop), but glad you like it. Let me know about the Cornelius too.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Thursday, 21 October 2004 13:39 (8 years ago) Permalink

While I'm still waiting for Steve's response, I gotta wonder if there's more out than just that Fred Falke thing. Again on the Cut Copy tip, 'Saturdays' is out as an AUS single and is easily one of the best things ever in 2004. The tragedy is that his remixers aren't French house or filterdisco producers.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Friday, 22 October 2004 11:25 (8 years ago) Permalink

the Cut Copy remix is alright but it hasn't grabbed me i must confess.

did anyone hear that Cassius track 'Losing North' that i mentioned upthread - love their basslines - they must have a new album out soon

i still need to hear the other Hystereo tracks

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 22 October 2004 11:27 (8 years ago) Permalink

I need to hear them full stop.

I love that remix so because it's 'Glittering Clouds' gone rock. You MUST hear 'Saturdays'.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Friday, 22 October 2004 11:38 (8 years ago) Permalink

And you must also play both at a fuck-off volume to really appreciate them.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Friday, 22 October 2004 11:38 (8 years ago) Permalink

i love Saturdays, it was a bit of a grower. Glittering Clouds best thing evah obv.

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 22 October 2004 11:44 (8 years ago) Permalink

Did you hear 'Live'?

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Friday, 22 October 2004 11:51 (8 years ago) Permalink

yeh - my intro to Cut Copy was via Flo-Motion on XFM a couple of years back. Luscombe only had to mention 'same stable as The Avalanches' and i was trying to find what i could. as it turned out then 'Glittering Clouds' and 'Live' were all i did find and i liked them both a lot.

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 22 October 2004 12:05 (8 years ago) Permalink

I listened to the Rex Records EP/I Thought Of Numbers yet again last night. His 80s influences were better when he was more camp and wider-ranging. I'll send you the rest of the EP when I move back/if you need.

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 22 October 2004 12:35 (8 years ago) Permalink

ARGH NO NOT SONIC ANIMATION NO! FLEE STEVE FLEE BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 22 October 2004 12:42 (8 years ago) Permalink

ha, a friend of mine said the same after initally championing one track of theirs. i've not heard enough to know. 'I'm The DJ' amused me tho.

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 22 October 2004 12:49 (8 years ago) Permalink

Sonic Animation are a fine example of everything that is wrong with Australian dance music.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 22 October 2004 13:00 (8 years ago) Permalink

that just makes me want to hear them even more...

anyone heard the new kris menace track, "Voyage"?

grady (grady), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 15:25 (7 years ago) Permalink

Does anyone remember the name of french house song with a video clip that had a guy entering a club with a vinyl album in one hand and then he enters a club and tosses it to the dj that plays it and the guy then starts dancing off against other people. He eventually wins all the battles and walks out of the club.

Any help naming the song would be appreciated.

Pologuy, Sunday, 19 March 2006 22:40 (7 years ago) Permalink

i know that video but i cant remember the title either :\
