WARNING WARNING WARNING

IF V. IS THE FIRST PYNCHON YOU READ, YOU WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER WANT TO READ PYNCHON AGAIN AND, IN FACT, WILL BE ANGRY AT EVERYONE WHO EVER TOLD YOU HE WAS WORTH READING AND ASSOCIATE HIS NAME WITH POSEUR LITERATURE

omg. my sister has just informed me that she was interviewed by f0x n3ws about palin's look and that they asked her to try on palin glasses and then asked why so many fashionistas are into obama. sooo wish my internet was not dial-up slow tonight so i could look for this!

Ha, wow! Sarah Palin's looks are about the only thing I do like about her, and that is on shaky ground when she starts with the ugly pink jackets. Michelle Obama's style, however, I love. (If only I were that tall...)

xp Okay guys, rank your Thomas Pynchon loves and hates for future reference.

i can not find it on their site. maybe it didn't run. she said afterwards she realized they were going to try to spin it to make it look like she was a palin fan. eek!

Never trust F0x news.

Fightin' lions with a switch (Susan), Thursday, 9 October 2008 14:10 (fifteen years ago) link

surely we are all Palin fans? an unparodyable politician is a truly special thing; you should appreciate her before she is once more irrelevant, back on her porch and glaring at Russia.

we have this clown:

and he is the elected Mayor of London. so very proud of my people.

supporter? eww gross no.

btw anyone who votes for someone "because they're funny", should be automatically disenfranchised. that is why he ^^ is now in charge of real things and it upsets me greatly.

The Mayor of London looks shockingly like the doddering character that Tim Conway used to play on the Carol Burnett Show. I suppose it's the hair.

Best: number 16, of course, showing one of the GREATEST BANDS EVER etc.

Worst: number 18, and Dan will agree with me since it shows Thandie Newton in an embrace with someone who is neither of us.

OMG is that salma hayak nips!?! they cant put that in the washington post!

Bright Future (sunny successor), Thursday, 9 October 2008 17:29 (fifteen years ago) link

So we can all agree that Dan agrees with Ned, are they the same person, etc. etc. Thandie Newton always strikes me as way too skinny, though, you guys. (Admittedly she doesn't venture into Lara Flynn Boyle territory...)

Sara R-C, Thursday, 9 October 2008 17:50 (fifteen years ago) link

Thandie Newton is the type of too-skinny that can carry it off, I think.

I am just really in a crabby mood tonight for no good reason whatsoever. My remedy is probably going to be ignoring school reading (about ostomies, whoo!) and finding some ILX thread that will make me lol.

btw, ITR denizens, happy weekend!

I have class tomorrow (blah), complete with a quiz on ostomies and a test-out, but then at least I'll have Saturday night and Sunday to myself. We're up to the final academic unit in this class; I'm so ready to move on to clinicals because, even though they are exhausting beyond belief, I can at least not spend all my time looking at a textbook.

sr-c do you discuss politics with yr parents much? bill clinton was the first democrat my dad ever voted for (he is now 72) -- he's actually now embarrassed to have ever been a republican.

was i dissed when jj came to nyc? maybe i was elsewhere, and sad

mookieproof, Saturday, 11 October 2008 01:15 (fifteen years ago) link

I try, mookieproof, but usually I just get hit with bizarre right wing talking points and racist crap, so I realize it's entirely a hopeless cause. My Dad used to have some sense, but then Clinton came along and he'll still go on about how the Clintons killed Vince Foster... it doesn't matter how crazy it is, the Republicans are always perfect and right and the Democrats are always inherently evil. Weirdly, my Mom *did* have qualms about Palin at the beginning - because of her kids' names! - but now she's totally on board. I probably have to go over there on the Sunday before the election, so that should be a fun afternoon.

But hey, good for your Dad for coming around. If there's an antidote you gave him, I'd sure love to get some for my family.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 11 October 2008 02:03 (fifteen years ago) link

just now

dadrza: I'm such a liberal elitist
dadrza: and I LOVE it

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Saturday, 11 October 2008 02:04 (fifteen years ago) link

I know I shouldn't take it personally, but part of it is that I want the Dad back who encouraged intellectual growth in me when I was a kid, not the one who embraces anti-intellectual nonsense.

The upside is that I think he does have a modicum of respect for me, since I don't hesitate to call him out on this stuff. (So I've earned the respect of a conspiracy theorist! Wait, that really shouldn't mean anything, should it).

Sara R-C, Saturday, 11 October 2008 02:05 (fifteen years ago) link

tza, maybe I could be adopted into your family...?
