Eddie Henderson's Realization (1973) and Inside/Out (1974) are basically Mwandishi albums, same personnel with Henderson as leader

in my personal universe “sextant”, “crossings and “mwandishi” make up a “super session album” in the sense of “bitches brew”

re eddie henderson don’t forget “sunburst”, no herbie but it’s got bennie maupin, buster williams (!!), george duke, bobby hutcherson, julian priester and harvey mason on drums

i like “realization” a lot, it’s maybe not as gaseous sounding or as nebular as mwandishi but it gets into some sweet modal-spiritual strata east vibes

I remember reading about Mwandishi in The Wire when i wasn't very familiar with them and it mentioning some live material I think with teh electronics taht had me salivating and dying to hear it. I did have a load of the live material on my walkman which would turn up at random back when i was listening to music that way daily.

I'm glad that imago is discovering the spirit of jazz! He will be wearing a spiritual jazz hat soon enough!
