As the thread has already established Alice Cooper hung out with everyone in the 70s, one of the benefits of chronic alcoholism.

Man, if I was rolling over to Groucho's house, I'd bring at least a 12-pack.

four weeks pass...

That George Michael / Liza / DeVitto photo is a masterpiece of accidental Renaissance composition. Their respective heights and the angles of their faces are exquisite.

Double letter typo had my hopes up there for a beat.

one month passes...

I wouldn't be surprised if this one was upthread somewhere:

Kim Gordon... and Gene Simmons? Don't know the others.

Monthly Python (Tom D.), Saturday, 16 September 2023 20:20 (seven months ago) link

Steve MacDonald, Mike Watt, Kira Roessler (?)

MacDonald, Gordon, Watt, Kira ... and Gene Simmons. Granted, all bassists, but still weird to see Gene (with a crucifix?) in the mix.

Josh in Chicago, Saturday, 16 September 2023 20:24 (seven months ago) link

It would be kind of like seeing all four members of Kiss posing with Ian MacKaye.

Josh in Chicago, Saturday, 16 September 2023 20:25 (seven months ago) link

Gene looks like he's auditioning for Black Sabbath and Cypress Hill on the same day

Who's the guy on the right?

Monthly Python (Tom D.), Tuesday, 19 September 2023 21:50 (seven months ago) link

Probably easier to recognize him without the sunglasses

John Ritter? I don't think he's well known enough not to be named tbh. Outside the US, that is.

Monthly Python (Tom D.), Tuesday, 19 September 2023 21:56 (seven months ago) link

Wow, when did John Ritter have that haircut?

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 19 September 2023 21:59 (seven months ago) link

When he did the "Ringo" TV film in 1978.

Ritter starred in They All Laughed (1981)...surely that film known outside the U.S.?

PROBLEM CHILD!

I did not recognize John Ritter in that photo, he looks like Ronnie Milsap or a member of the band Orleans.

brimstead, Tuesday, 19 September 2023 23:19 (seven months ago) link

he died the same day as Johnny Cash, and was overshadowed by the greater John' death

I'm not sure how serious you're being there, I've definitely heard of John Ritter and I've definitely never heard of that film.

It's Vincent Price on the left of the photo, in case anyone else didn't recognise him.

RINGO CANCELLED

lol I thought that was time traveling pre-Fleetwood Mac Stevie Nicks.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 20 September 2023 01:33 (seven months ago) link

I thought Ringo was the handsy one, but it's actually Ritter. Maybe he was in character.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Wednesday, 20 September 2023 01:35 (seven months ago) link

Maybe he was trying to cop a feel off Ringo but missed.

Replace Gene with Geddy for the Roy part and — it's probably still a bad idea.

is there a version of that where you can see or hear any of the guests (beyond "STEE BOYS")?

Well, David Koch being dead brings me a glimmer of hope for the guy on the left.

peace, man, Friday, 22 September 2023 16:07 (seven months ago) link

Who are these three?

I Left My Harp In Sam Frank's Disco (Tom D.), Friday, 22 September 2023 16:08 (seven months ago) link

Documentarian Ken Burns in the middle, don't know the other two.

nickn, Friday, 22 September 2023 16:10 (seven months ago) link

It's conservative Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas, beloved by many PBS documentary maven Ken Burns, and dead conservative billionaire activist David Koch. Who, to be fair, funded a lot of Burns docs, which doesn't make this so surprising. Just a gross glimpse of how the sausage is made.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 22 September 2023 16:12 (seven months ago) link

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 22 September 2023 16:13 (seven months ago) link

I'm not typically one to complain about US politics infecting ILX threads, but I feel like we could leave it off this one.

Muad'Doob (Moodles), Friday, 22 September 2023 16:27 (seven months ago) link

Is Ken Burns not well known outside the US?

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 22 September 2023 16:36 (seven months ago) link

not at all

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Friday, 22 September 2023 16:37 (seven months ago) link

tbh i think people outside the US are more likely to know what the ken burns effect is than who ken burns is.
