Ideas for ILX

Probably is, isn't it. It's all a bit annoying as they're bigger on FFox than they are on Safari, but not a lot I can do, I guess.

My only suggestion is to keep up the good work. I love ILX, because it only changes for the better. None of the "we're changing everything cuz we have to do something with all the designers we hired" that seems to infect other sites. All the gloss is subtle, and in the name of usability. I'm posting from Zing, so I guess my only suggestions would be to polish up Zing, and make Windows/iPhone versions. You guys rock!

Jay, you can kind of do this now, though it's certainly not obvious... If you use the text search, and enter something like:

radiohead AND displayName:"Ned Raggett"

It should work - remember to change to posts (if that's what you're looking for).

hahahaha. i would like a coffee mug that says SUGGEST BAN in the interior once the liquid level gets too low. like, you're not allowed to have too little coffee.

i'm not really sure how this works though, like are you suggest banning the coffee or the mug or?

lol i don't think my idea was that fleshed out; i just saw the label on something and snapped a cell phone pic, and was then pondering what exactly a microban would be.

also, this is just a small pet peeve of mine, but in the search page, when searching posts by a certain user, could the default be changed to "display name" instead of "email address" as i can't see who would use the email address to search except for mods (?) and lots of times, esp when i'm trying to find a certain post by someone in a rush, i always have to end up clicking back to search because i forgot to change the default

okay so, could it be possible to order the list of boards on the "boards" page so that i can put the ones that i always read up at the top and the ones that i don't down at the bottom? or like, where it says "ILM Answers" and "ILE Answers" to be able to customize which boards have those links at the top?

is there a way to convert simple html to bbcode? i've never seen that on this site before

this bullet point thing is super cool cuz sometimes... like i don't want to lose a bookmark on a thread (usually to watch a youtube) but i still want to read the thread if there are subsequent posts and beforehand there was no way to figure out if there were new posts unless you watched the thread on SNA, so this is awesome keith

This! I would like a way to Preview the post before submitting it - like a client-side check for bbcode errors and images and such to make sure you're not messing things up.

Yes I'll have a think about that - several people have asked for that.

OK mods can now deindex threads. Note that all this does is puts something in the thread to instruct Google and the like to either not index it, or to deindex it - it'll take time if it's already indexed and there's no guarantee that any given search engine will take notice of the deindex instruction.

It depends really. It's not to do with ILX or ILX2, but more to do with whether or not you've been using the same email address, so yours and Ned's stats are correct for the email address/login ID you're currently using.
