kv_nol, Friday, 7 September 2007 12:57 (sixteen years ago) link

I am dying here. DYING.

Had emergency battered sausage chips and beans for lunch and a can of Irn Bru. I'm not sure if it can hold back the ruin. Oh g0d. Oh yrg. Help.

Sarah, Friday, 7 September 2007 13:04 (sixteen years ago) link

The tummy is complaining big time. IDIOT STOMACH do you not know what's good for you?

Oh heck three more hours to go. THREE WHOLE HOURS. Argh!

Sarah, Friday, 7 September 2007 13:05 (sixteen years ago) link

I recommend a very milky tea with two sugars more than you usually take in it. Looking at Wiggy McGann might help you too.

aldo, Friday, 7 September 2007 13:12 (sixteen years ago) link

I will also need to write like a motherfucker so Rock H doesn't kill me chili verde style!

So let's see here, you don't like chilies, you don't like fish...you're one of those people who only eat well-done beef and mashed potatoes, aren't you? Trish is right, I'm going to send her round to your place for some harsh "re-education."

Rock Hardy, Friday, 7 September 2007 13:25 (sixteen years ago) link

oh, so THAT's what she does to pay the bills, is it?

aldo, Friday, 7 September 2007 13:26 (sixteen years ago) link

B-b-but... I don't like milky tea at the best of time and don't take sugars at all!

I am really actually feeling quite sick now and would be very surprised if I were not an uncomfortable shade of green. Haha! Wiggy McGann! I am watching Shonen Club tat on youtube for distraction but it's losing out to the nausea. UGH!

Sarah, Friday, 7 September 2007 13:27 (sixteen years ago) link

No wait, I LOVE food and cooking! I'm actually a good cook, I'm just not into fish people. Yes, I know it's wrong, I try it as often as possible but I just can't get into the taste really. Re-education (i.e. a free feed) would be appreciated though!

Sarah what were you up to that caused such ruination? (I know you were drinking obviously)

kv_nol, Friday, 7 September 2007 13:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Lordy, turn my back for half a second and this thread totally gallops away! I just had to do major homework. Ramzi/Surmounter, I love your name!
My son consented to have his 23rd birthday dinner with US, his boring parents, because he had to wake up early for work the next day and also because I bought him a lobster. Mr BP and I have had our lifetime lobster dose and will vomit if we have to eat one more. Every houseguest wants 'em. Blurgh. I have to go vomit right now, just thinking about it.
So kv-nol, if you visit us you will be safe from at least one form of noxious seafood.

Beth Parker, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:17 (sixteen years ago) link

oh, so THAT's what she does to pay the bills, is it?

I don't pay bills. I FIX EM.

Good news, everyone. I've just discovered that my work has nothing for me to do for the early part of next week, and so I can stretch out the work I have at the moment to take me up to Tuesday, which means I can doss the rest of this lovely sunny Friday away. Huzzah! I can finish that book about the Charge of the Light Brigade I've been reading.

accentmonkey, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:18 (sixteen years ago) link

Mr BP and I have had our lifetime lobster dose and will vomit if we have to eat one more.

Yes, we have a friend who used to be a lobster fisherman. He hasn't eaten a lobster in years. However, it was very handy to have him at dinner with us in Halifax, as he was able to show Mister M how to eat every single little bit. Value for money.

accentmonkey, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:19 (sixteen years ago) link

my bak hurts and i can't decide if i should meet this stranger tonight to like go be ridiculous. i don't think so. i feel like i need some keyboard time. yeah.

Surmounter, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:20 (sixteen years ago) link

(xpost) That's what we do, too, actually. We're lobster-eating coaches. Show people tail-cracking technique and also how to find the elusive body meat, which is the sweetest—the lobster equivalent of the "oysters" on a chicken.

Beth Parker, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:22 (sixteen years ago) link

fuck, my post was eaten somehow.

K, I'm jealous of your trip. maybe we can lunch at Aster's soon.

I'm getting Onimo-ed tonight b/c CLASS WAS GOOD! Confident about my quiz performance and then he got into functions. I realized, "Hey, this is just functions and associative arrays like in programming. I KNOW THIS!!" YAY!

Ms Misery, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:23 (sixteen years ago) link

Surmounter, I don't know about you, but keyboard time is so bad for my back! Sitting in a chair is the worst. The nerve gets all pinched and it radiates into my hip. Take 4 ibuprofen and GO BE CRAZY!

Beth Parker, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:24 (sixteen years ago) link

Get a better chair, Beth!

Ms Misery, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:24 (sixteen years ago) link

Ms. Misery, SEE???? We told you you were smart 'n' all.

Beth, yes! This is exactly what our friend says. Mister M was most grateful. And his tummy was all bursty.

accentmonkey, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:24 (sixteen years ago) link

I have a good chair!

Beth Parker, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:25 (sixteen years ago) link

Hmm, better keyboard set up? It's all about ergonomics.

Ms Misery, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:26 (sixteen years ago) link

If I had an office job I'd address the problem, but as it is I just try to limit my chair-hours. Sitting is bad, even in the best of chairs. We weren't designed for it. When I am old and even more broken-down I imaging I'll do my ilxing in bed, or standing. On a treadmill!

Beth Parker, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:28 (sixteen years ago) link

I imagine.

Beth Parker, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:28 (sixteen years ago) link

My favorite place to do things is standing at the kitchen counter.

Ms Misery, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:28 (sixteen years ago) link

I have to go water some gardens now. It's a tinderbox here. Unreal. Grass actually makes a crunching noise when you walk on it. None of my gardening accounts have lawn irrigation. They're all in tune with the let-the-grass-go-brown drought drill.

Beth Parker, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:30 (sixteen years ago) link

well it's like a big musical keyboard. but i know, sitting KILLS my back and i sit all day long! but on the other hand i just don't know if i'm ready for debauchery tonight.

bout to order eggs n bacon :-)

omg i love standing at the kitchen counter.

Surmounter, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:31 (sixteen years ago) link

Charge of the Light Brigade I've been reading.

Accentmonkey it's kind of geeky (read: very geeky) but there's a great book on the model of Waterloo made by Siborne (It's called Wellington's Smallest Victory: The Duke, the Model Maker and the Secret of Waterloo by P3t3r H0f5chr03r

Synopsis from Amazon:

William Siborne, a lieutenant in the British army and expert in topography, was commissioned to make a vast scale model of Waterloo, incorporating 75, 000 tin-lead soldiers and stretching over 400 square feet. But why - at a time when celebrations of England's finest hour at Waterloo were so in vogue, and Wellington's fame was at its peak - did this exquisite model gain Siborne the enmity of the Duke and ultimately lead to his own ruin? Peter Hofschroer tells the extraordinary and tragic tale of one man's obsession to build the greatest model of the greatest battle of all time.

Not the best written book but really fascinating!

I'm going to Caribou! V excited but completely exhausted. I've organised 9 people to go, of them I'm the only one that heard the music!

WELL DONE MS MIS! A+++ WOULD DO MATH AGAIN

I am sadly not a kitchen counter fan. My kitchen is too cold and seperate from the rest of the house :(

kv_nol, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:37 (sixteen years ago) link

Kev-lol, that book sounds deadly. I am already collecting gift ideas for Mister M for his birthday and, you know, that big occasion that comes along later in the year. I think that will be going on my list.

God, it looks just great! Now I really want to read it.

I read a really good novel by Barry Unsworth a couple of years ago about an obsessive Nelson collector. I can't remember what it was called, but it was top class.

accentmonkey, Friday, 7 September 2007 14:40 (sixteen years ago) link

kitchen counter + crackers + jam = danger

If you can't wait to read it it's on clearance in basement of Hodges. Only a fiver iirc.

Does anyone know the voodoo to make tables behave in MS Word? I'm ready to go out and get a chicken. This is the only thing holding me up from finishing a project and having a lovely weekend (cheers to all of you who have beat me to it)!

Surmounter, I'll be the one barely able to contain my squeals of glee! I had to cancel a trip to Stratford to see Lear there, and I have the biggest fruitfly crush on McKellen. This was all that was left when I went to get tix: "PRICE THREE Partial View, Orchestra Rear Right Side"--how partial is partial? For you assistance I will bring you a bottle of Hell on the Red. I'll probably bring one anyway, to be honest. Everyone deserves a good jar of salsa. Especially us non-location-specific types!

patita, Friday, 7 September 2007 16:07 (sixteen years ago) link

Damn, 11?

Tables in Word are generally not that good.

Ms Misery, Friday, 7 September 2007 16:08 (sixteen years ago) link

ok ok so you're either:

Anne, cynthia, dolores or kari?

lookin at the house here :-)

it depends, in that theater, the partial views can literally mean like a sliver of a pole, or a big fat pole. seat numbers i could be more specific about =)

Surmounter, Friday, 7 September 2007 16:19 (sixteen years ago) link

salsa is the bEST

Surmounter, Friday, 7 September 2007 16:19 (sixteen years ago) link

Ha ha this is brilliant! Good man Surmounter.

kv_nol, Friday, 7 September 2007 16:20 (sixteen years ago) link

Right you crazy kids, I'm off. Have a great weekend one and all.

Ms Mis, it might make you smile to head over to excelsior and see some nastiness backfire!

Accentmonkey, I could post you that book if you like? Hide it from teh mister M and you could be well-versed and all impressive going "I knew that" when he reads you excerpts later :)

Toodles all.

I'm going.

No really!

Okay, I'm gone.

For real this time.

Did you miss me? Okay okay, Bye.

kv_nol, Friday, 7 September 2007 16:26 (sixteen years ago) link

Ms Mis, it might make you smile to head over to excelsior and see some nastiness backfire!

The mass posting was funny but in general like I said I tend to ignore personal snipes so didn't care about the original post.

Ms Misery, Friday, 7 September 2007 16:27 (sixteen years ago) link

Surmounter, you have spooky powers! R24; R22 are the seats... and you know my secret identity now. Crazy!

patita, Friday, 7 September 2007 16:54 (sixteen years ago) link

That *is* crazy!

Ms Misery, Friday, 7 September 2007 16:59 (sixteen years ago) link

mwahahahahaha!

prety name :-)

well just for you, i will take a walk over there soon and sit in those seats, and let you know what it's like!

Surmounter, Friday, 7 September 2007 17:10 (sixteen years ago) link

ooh! I feel like royalty :) you are a gracious man!

you've got a nice name too, thank you :)

patita, Friday, 7 September 2007 17:15 (sixteen years ago) link

God, that's so cool! I wish I could remote control people in their workplace.

accentmonkey, Friday, 7 September 2007 17:25 (sixteen years ago) link

hehe... will update soon

Surmounter, Friday, 7 September 2007 17:27 (sixteen years ago) link

My boss is gone. How long should I want until I am gone?

Ms Misery, Friday, 7 September 2007 18:02 (sixteen years ago) link

5 minutes.

luna, Friday, 7 September 2007 18:02 (sixteen years ago) link

I'd say 15 or so, depending on how much you care ;)

patita, Friday, 7 September 2007 18:07 (sixteen years ago) link

Actually probably not till three. But that's still an hour and half early!

I promised myself I would finish something today and the big boss is prone to drop in on Friday afternoons. . .

Ms Misery, Friday, 7 September 2007 18:08 (sixteen years ago) link

Okay, but can *I* leave now?

luna, Friday, 7 September 2007 18:09 (sixteen years ago) link

Yes. Enjoy your weekend!

Ms Misery, Friday, 7 September 2007 18:10 (sixteen years ago) link

Aha, well there's your answer. An hour and a half on a Friday is like three hours on any other day!

luna, you have my permission!

patita, Friday, 7 September 2007 18:10 (sixteen years ago) link

You are both wonderful, and I thank you. However, my boss actually came in and so I'm stuck for another 5 hours and 33 minutes.

DAMMIT.
