While reviewing Gadde's emails, I saw a familiar name - my own. Dorsey sent her a copy of my Substack article blasting the incident pic.twitter.com/4EYVKdVdNF

ah well nevertheless

22. Although several sources recalled hearing about a “general” warning from federal law enforcement that summer about possible foreign hacks, there’s no evidence - that I've seen - of any government involvement in the laptop story. In fact, that might have been the problem...

The revelation from the Matt Taibbi posts that Jack Dorsey's email address includes the word "pizza" is NOT being received well in QAnon / Pizzagate-land.

What happened to the live Q&A

Fash Gordon (Neanderthal), Saturday, 3 December 2022 02:04 (one year ago) link

Woah Matt Taibbi just broke the story that a Twitter, a private company, didn’t want their platform to be used to promote a bullshit conspiracy theory. This could be huge!!!

haha, I can't believe he didn't just skip past the FBI not being involved

If a QAnon goon shoots Dorsey like that mobster in New Jersey a few years ago, this will all have been worth it.

Some people ask me how I did so well on my predictions for the World Cup knockout round. A thread...

1) It helps to have a keen eye and attention to detail regarding what's happening on the field

2) There's always a nice balance of intuition and luck

3) It was helpful to avoid looking at past results to predict future performance

4) Also helpful was making it after the group stage had already finished

The central problem with the Hunter laptop story is the laptop itself. From various reports we appear to have a pretty good idea of what's on it, and it's just not that much. There's one reference to money going to "the big guy," which the obviously reliable Tony Bobulinski claims is Papa Joe, but beyond that it's mostly just evidence that Hunter was a drug addict who liked to have sex and was trying to leverage his family name for cash any way he could — all of which we've known for years. I think that's why there's so much focus on the social media "coverup," because the MacGuffin is pretty thin stuff. I expect the House investigation will likewise focus at least as much attention on the "coverup" as what's actually on the laptop.

Wasn't it not even clear that it was even actually his laptop

Fash Gordon (Neanderthal), Saturday, 3 December 2022 02:15 (one year ago) link

Apparently, there is some corroboration, but that's not conclusive.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Saturday, 3 December 2022 02:19 (one year ago) link

I'm fine with calling the Bidens corrupt based on influence peddling (and so was The Nation before 2020) but it's not like the GOP can make too much hay there because a) they all do it and b) everyone assumes politicians are crooks anyway so an alwayssunnyconspiracy.jpg is their only play.

papal hotwife (milo z), Saturday, 3 December 2022 02:22 (one year ago) link

I think it's pretty definitely his laptop. But in October 2020 when it was being peddled as an obvious October Surprise, it wasn't clear and its provenance was sketchy as hell. As I keep reminding conservative friends, even Fox News refused to report on it so close to the election.

And yeah, to act like Hunter is some huge scandal when you have Jared and Ivanka sitting right there in plain sight is lol-some.

Plus, nobody was keeping Matt Taibbi from reporting on any of this at any time, if he really thinks it's some big deal.

the thing about hunters corruption that keeps it from being a bigger story is that theres no evidence of joe playing along

lag∞n, Saturday, 3 December 2022 02:25 (one year ago) link

Honestly was less invested in this as a Biden story and more and Elon flameout

Fash Gordon (Neanderthal), Saturday, 3 December 2022 02:26 (one year ago) link

one thing about taibbi greewald ygelias et al going to substack is its exposing them as terrible writers

lag∞n, Saturday, 3 December 2022 02:27 (one year ago) link

and they could totally use editors if they want they all make a ton of money but they choose to just suck instead they like it that way

lag∞n, Saturday, 3 December 2022 02:28 (one year ago) link

Lack of editorial oversight can have that effect.

The big reveal is basically that Twitter acted like every other media company in the country (except the New York Post) and sniffed at this thing and said, "Eh, seems sketchy, we need more information."

Some lame shit. Also, for whatever he's getting paid, Taibbi should have had the courtesy to tell Musk you don't drop breaking news on a Friday night unless you're trying to bury it.

On his Substack, Matt Taibbi tells his readers that he "had to agree to certain conditions" to do the Hunter Biden laptop thread for Musk. pic.twitter.com/49i58VbIIX

Story seems to downgrade the theory of “The FBI told Twitter to suppress the laptop story” to “some libs at Twitter didn’t to help Trump win the election”

Want to help

idk what the funniest thing about this is, the fact that the tweets that were "handled" were literally just leaked nudes or all the idiot chuds forgetting that it actually would've been Trump's government violating the first amendment

frogbs, Saturday, 3 December 2022 04:04 (one year ago) link

or maybe the god awful way the story 'broke', a news dump on a Friday night via a slow tweet thread that stopped working right away, a thread that gets 16 tweets in before revealing anything at all

frogbs, Saturday, 3 December 2022 04:05 (one year ago) link

lol the improper threading made me laugh

the former c suite quietly got their payouts

Form 4s just filed for Ned Segal, Parag Agrawal, and Vijaya Gadde showing the RSU and stock payouts with some footnotes about their severance agreements that seem to be paid—perhaps explains why someone felt the need to try some deep fake revenge porn “news” drop this evening.

hardcore

Musk’s transition team has been slowly going through the list of employees who didn’t check "yes” to being hardcore in a Google form and, if they are marked "critical,” calling them to see if they are sure about wanting to leave.

— Alex Heath (@alexeheath) December 3, 2022

Remaining engineering managers are trying to convince their other reports who have left to come back. It has been communicated that basically anyone can come back if they want. They are being encouraged to negotiate for perks like guaranteed remote work.
