Rolling Boxing Thread / Anticipating Manny vs. Mayweather

We are sad to report that former world champion Vernon Forrest was tragically and senselessly murdered at about 11PM on Saturday night in Atlanta during an attempted robbery at a gas station. Reportedly Forrest had stopped to put air in the tire of his late model Jaguar when he was robbed at gunpoint. Forrest was also armed and pursued but another assailant was hiding and ambushed the champion. According to Atlanta police, Forrest was shot multiple times with a semi-automatic weapon.

Beat me to it. I don't think I can really get behind Forrest historically (RIP) because he beat my at-the-time favorite Mosley so badly (TWO TIMES) and looked looked like a completely empty/cowardly champion for the rest of his career. The moral of the story is to not chase down an armed assailant, even if you do have a gun. Srsly some 'When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong' shit.

Cotto looks like he can outpunch Pacquiao all night if he has to. Trying to find a live line - Cotto was as much of a 3-1 dog prefight, which I thought even then was a little long.

Pacquiao looked much more confident in R2, and just got a (kinda screwy) knockdown in R3.

excellent fight so far.

Yeah, the style contrast has been super fun to watch, esp since Cotto's much faster than I expected him to look.

I think Pacquiao will win but if the fight goes on into the later rounds who knows. If it finishes early I reckon Pacquiao will win.
