Also I have been wondering if that track with the female sample "GIVE YOURSELF! GIVE YOURSELF! GIVE YOURSELF! TO MEEEEEE!" and the insanely juddering choppy groove is by you guys as well.

I'm repeating myself but this stuff is really the pinnacle of modern music, like even before I heard UK funky, my hypothetical "what music would I make if I had talent/skill/equipment" answer would have been something close to this.

Is this the same sample used in 'Far Out' and probably a load of other old rave tunes as well?

It certainly sounds very "old rave tune" diva exhortation, but I haven't listened to "Far Out" in ages so I can't remember.

It's on that November 2008 Marcus Nasty set with all the MCs. In the first half hour or so i think.

lol it is really ukfunky.com though. junodownload.com prob second best, and a lot of the housier cuts you can find on traxsource, beatport and so on. it's always useful to check itunes too or just uh google around.

btw i forgot to mention - bokbok dropped royal p's 'between us' at night slugs!!! it was amazing.

the MC im really surprised hasnt jumped on funky more is kano but im glad hes on it now. hes never been comfortable with grimes lack of visibility and he was always more of a ladies mc than most grime mcs so itd prob be a perfect fit. seems to bring out his old flow at last, too.

I think this isn't going to be up Tim's alley, but it's definitely right up mine, 'Now You Know' is where funky meets minimal by way of techno, although TRG usually makes dubstep.

I'm not opposed to dubstep producers dabbling in funky though - "Wad" by Pearson Sound (Ramadanman apparently) is one of my favourite funky tracks of the year. What i've tended to wring my hands over is a more subtle likely shift towards a "dubstep-mindset" I guess.

DJ Naughty's been having a pretty good year I reckon! "Love Lockdown", his tracks with Yazz, his amazing remix of DJ Mystery's "Speechless"... Haven't heard any remixes of major label r&b tracks though so dunno what "slu-wasteguy" is referring to.

'go' has a proper video now! funny, it was actually on itunes last year (original + various remixes inc crazy cousinz), and i snapped it up b/c i was snapping up anything CC-related - thought it was a+ and didn't know why no one was really mentioning it. and then suddenly it took on a life of its own after it was released on vinyl, then the meleka release was deleted from itunes, and presumably a proper release is now in the offing...
