Oh my god those shoes are awesome--where did you get them???

quincie (quincie), Monday, 5 June 2006 18:03 (seventeen years ago) link

yaay, i love my new shoes!
i got them at Aldo - i haven't bought shoes there in years and years, but sometimes they have really nice stuff! (most of it's all super trendy and/or not for me.)

one month passes...
If i wear a UK size 8 and a Euro 42, what size of shoes should i wear in the US?

leigh (leigh), Wednesday, 2 August 2006 11:10 (seventeen years ago) link

men's 8.5 / women's 10

sunny successor (katharine), Wednesday, 2 August 2006 11:35 (seventeen years ago) link

Ooh, there are some nice shoes on this thread :)

I like shoes, and whilst I do have a pair or two of quite expensive/overpriced ones, I have also recently discovered the joy of Primark shoes. Cheap-and-cheerful catwalk copies for a mere £8 a pair! Who cares if they fall apart after only a few months!

C J (C J), Wednesday, 2 August 2006 11:45 (seventeen years ago) link

I recently purchashed these whilst in San Francisco:

And I love them. Quite possibly my favourite pair of shoes, ever.

im not sure ill ever wear them but patent pink sure is pretty to look at.

sunny successor (katharine), Wednesday, 2 August 2006 11:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Hmm,I tried a pair of Canadian size 10s and couldn't get my feet into them. I had my eye on a pair of shoes that are the same price in dollars as they are in pounds over here so i was going to get my mum to pick up a pair for me while she's over but i dunno if it's worth the risk.

leigh (leigh), Wednesday, 2 August 2006 14:14 (seventeen years ago) link

got some new shoes

I'm just craving fall.

I love these (which are MINE - in dark brown tho):

I also own these in blue which actually have an Eiffel Tower snow dome in the heel...

Oh, and when I got married I wanted these (but didn't get em):

I love shoes.

shoes in hand (disco clone), Wednesday, 2 August 2006 17:30 (seventeen years ago) link

those patrick cox ones are beautiful. i want!

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 2 August 2006 17:43 (seventeen years ago) link

i too love shoes, but these last three, in ascendant degree, cross some kind of the line, not fetishization but nearing it. which is fine, but i feel like i'd have to be wearing equally elaborate clothes to go with them. like a wedding dress made out of flowers. which would be rad.

rrrobyn sharkattack battleforcenet (rrrobyn), Wednesday, 2 August 2006 17:45 (seventeen years ago) link

where are those eiffel tower shoes from??

sunny successor (katharine), Wednesday, 2 August 2006 17:47 (seventeen years ago) link

and, haha, pink ho shoes are great.
they would look awesome with a mod-ish white dress.
xpost!

rrrobyn sharkattack battleforcenet (rrrobyn), Wednesday, 2 August 2006 17:49 (seventeen years ago) link

Laurel, i prefer those shoes in tan!

tissp, I have a pair of those and you're right: best shoes ever.

daniel striped tiger (OutDatWay), Wednesday, 2 August 2006 19:05 (seventeen years ago) link

nice. i'm envisioning them going well with a lot of 70s colors - burnt orange, umber, dark forest green, etc.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 2 August 2006 19:06 (seventeen years ago) link

I want these. I am trying to think of a universe in which it is OK to spend £95 on shoes I don't need.

those pink ho shoes are amazing!

why do you people have to be reviving my favorite thread when I have one million things to do?

horseshoe (horseshoe), Wednesday, 2 August 2006 19:46 (seventeen years ago) link

I got the Patrick Coxes from this vintage shop place for £15, I guess they were second hand but didn't look it. The water's all cloudy now, I've had them for about 8 years :(

Rrobyn, the weird heel ones don't actually look weird on, no-one ever notices the heel when you're walking around in them - they just look like cute pumps. But otm about the flower ones, they're hardly work-wear...

shoes in hand (disco clone), Wednesday, 2 August 2006 19:55 (seventeen years ago) link

you can get the weird heel ones on zappos.com, I forget the brand though! they're like $75 I think..?

I am thinking of buying a pair of Chie Mihara shoes for fall..

dar1a g (daria g), Wednesday, 2 August 2006 20:27 (seventeen years ago) link

I bought these the other day, enticed by the £109 -> £30 reduction. I've little idea when I'll actually wear them.

Possibly when I go and see Miami Vice.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 2 August 2006 20:52 (seventeen years ago) link

Very snazzy.

I also got these.

I was in London yesterday and accidentally bought both of these.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Monday, 25 September 2006 07:35 (seventeen years ago) link

Whoops! I particularly like the NB ones.

Mädchen (Madchen), Monday, 25 September 2006 10:26 (seventeen years ago) link

Accidently? You crashed into the shop and landed in these shoes? Whatever the case, the above ones are very nice!

I'm so picky when it comes to shoes, I now just ended up buying shoes I only vaguely like. With a heel. Blue. Fuck, I don't know how to walk in a high heel. Ah well. They seemed comfy for the 25 seconds I tried'em on.

http://www.jonesbootmaker.com/ebusiness1/images/product/large/Cape_3_Black_L.jpg

Something like this but with a heavier heel.

Harumph, why the hell did I buy'em? Desperation, I guess.

I also saw some suede looking wedges. Me likey very much. Though I'd prefer to go all overboard and get these Prada shoes;

If I didn't have a baby to carry, they would be MINE all miiiiiine. Heh.

I love the peep-toe. I just bought some cute shoes; I'll try to find a picture.

These aren't exactly the ones I bought--mine have simple, Mary Jane-type strap rather than a T-strap. But mine are the same color and heel. Because a 6000th pair of Mary Janes was essential.

horseshoe (horseshoe), Monday, 25 September 2006 14:40 (seventeen years ago) link

Damn it! I was so good yesterday and walked out of Office empty handed. I think I'm going to have to go back today and buy the pair of boots and red heels I've been lusting after.

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Monday, 25 September 2006 14:43 (seventeen years ago) link

Mm, loving that kinky red underside Ally.

It's crazy, I never normally wear heels but now I'm definitely off the market for them (centre of gravity changing/increased bulk/swollen ankles) I covet them as never before. Sigh. I just need an attractive flat shoe for winter I guess.

Archel (Archel), Monday, 25 September 2006 14:44 (seventeen years ago) link

Am I the only bloke who bumps this?

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Monday, 25 September 2006 14:48 (seventeen years ago) link

I believe Mark C has been known to get shoey gooey on occasion too.

Archel (Archel), Monday, 25 September 2006 14:50 (seventeen years ago) link

I apparently waited for someone else to bump it to do my faux-naif-yet-earnest thing a while back

gabbneb (gabbneb), Monday, 25 September 2006 14:51 (seventeen years ago) link

Hah. I was at a fancy-dress cocktail party on Sat at which one of the men actually commented that every woman present had amazingly stylish shoes on. It was true, and I'm convinced that the host and hostess cultivate friendships based on choice of footwear. Surely there are worse ways.

Laurel (Laurel), Monday, 25 September 2006 14:51 (seventeen years ago) link

can I join the fun?

Ed (dali), Monday, 25 September 2006 14:52 (seventeen years ago) link

I used to form friendships based on footwear. Unfortunately I was a) very uncool and b) a shoe fascist, which basically meant that only people in Doc Martens made the grade.

Oh where art thou nice flatties? :(

Archel (Archel), Monday, 25 September 2006 14:56 (seventeen years ago) link

I wish I could be of more help on the flats issue but I never wear them due to A) really, really high arches making many, many flats excruciating to wear (I guess I could get ortho inserts but UGH) B) really, really huge feet looking like clown's feet when in flats:(

sleep (sleep), Monday, 25 September 2006 16:21 (seventeen years ago) link

yeah, i don't wear true flats either - shoes of pain for the high-arched, ttly. there are flats that aren't truely flat, but they're harder to find, it seems. regardless, you mostly just need Comfortable Shoes, archels! cute and comfortable.

i really love those black shoes you posted, nath. though, yeah, i'd wobble on that heel.

ohgod, i am going to walk downtown this afternoon and this thread just had to pop up... this is why i shouldn't have a credit card.

rrrobyn, the situation (rrrobyn), Monday, 25 September 2006 16:40 (seventeen years ago) link

did not buy shoes, phew. mostly because all the ones i felt want for were $300+ camper boots. oh, but there was a flimsy pair of weird looking canvas slips that were cheap but not cheap enough for what they were. cute though...

rrrobyn, the situation (rrrobyn), Monday, 25 September 2006 23:17 (seventeen years ago) link

I really like these but can't afford ($300, chie mihara), also I saw them @ anthropologie website and am rather opposed to buying anything they like
