I don't get the big deal besides it is not as fun as cricket green tea cola. The "1 billion organisms" thing on the back strikes me as a bit round

sleep, Sunday, 10 February 2008 00:14 (sixteen years ago) link

aside from the fact that it will ward off cancer and balding obvs

none of us keep our kitchens heated and it's been a very very cold winter, is the theory, but now we are without our cultures

I stand by my earlier post that enzymes and bacteria in plain yogurt and fermented soy/tofu (sorry to get all j-food but: natto, tofuyo, etc.) are more healthy for you than kombucha.

[15:05] vc: you need something that has l. bacillus
[15:05] vc: and acidophillus
[15:06] SS: what about kombucha
[15:06] vc: i don't dislike kombucha
[15:06] vc: but i think the craze over it is a crock of shit

RIP $4 questionable health beverage

I went to buy a kombucha yesterday at whole foods and there wasn't any and I asked them why and they told me so I attempted to throw myself in front of an oncoming car

give me back my kombucha damn you all

Local overpriced upscale grocery has lots of kombucha brands still. I want one right about now.

postmodern infidel(ity) (mh), Saturday, 19 June 2010 14:18 (thirteen years ago) link

It's not hard to make.If you don't think the health benefits are worth $4/tiny bottle (they aren't) you can make it and check the potential benefits for free. I have plenty of mothers to give away but I make mine in gallon jars so the girls have a large surface area. Takes a while to get the hang of it-vinegary home kombucha is dud. I'm still alive 2.5 years after doc expected me to croak so kombucha and NN diet get a big a+ from me. Also weed. Also neti. 3/3 for this board apparently.

_▂▅▇█▓▒░◕‿‿◕░▒▓█▇▅▂_ (Steve Shasta), Monday, 21 June 2010 02:47 (thirteen years ago) link

you're sweet for asking but this isn't the cycling board.

soviet, Monday, 21 June 2010 02:58 (thirteen years ago) link

i've had great success making kombucha (it's easy), and i think it tastes better than GT's. if anyone in nyc wants a mother i can give you one.
