I hate to admit it, but I still kinda like Jimmy Olsen's Blues(Although I like it so much I am not even sure what the name of the song actually is).

I thought everything else was vomit tho.

this song falls into the guilty pleasure catagory along with Steal My Sunshine and all Blink 182 singles.

I actually heard the Len album for the first time at a sub shop today and there is NO reason to consider that a guilty pleasure. It's innocent and fun. It's what Moby's Play SHOULD have been.

actually, on second thought I may well have heard a mix-CD with Len on it rather than the full length album (unless it has songs that sound like techno remixes of Simon & Garfunkel), but either way "Steal My Sunshine" is innocent and fun.

"Two Princes"/"Little Miss Can't be Wrong", which sounds more like Joe Jackson or Steve Miller than like the Grateful Dead or the Chili Peppers, was possibly my favorite two-sided single of the '80s. They had a couple other good songs, too -- "You Let Your Heart Go Too Fast" on their second (full) LP comes to mind. Almost everything else was crap, of course. But I'll take the drums alone in "Two Princes" over any beats I've ever heard Dave Grohl or Janet Weiss come up with.

I meant of the '90s, of course, not '80s.

The Len album is really cool- especially the part with the German guy talking about making love to his comp. And the "Shop Around" samples!

Ninety-nine bucks? I like the way you think. ;-)

Ned, evidently you don't speak Jam. That's cents (or so I assume the Spin Doctor was implying). And I might even through in the the goddamn drummer from the Spin Doctors if he makes Chuck so damn happy.

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 18 March 2003 00:07 (10 years ago) Permalink

obligatory Outhere brothers post.

"You Let Your Ass Go To Fast"
"Little Ass Can't Be Wrong"
"Cleopatra's Ass"
"The Longer I Ass, The Harder I Cry"
"What Ass Is It?"
"Jimmy Olsen's Ass"
"Ass Princes"
"Refrigerator Ass"
"Big Ass Funky Ass Booty Ass"

I was impressed that their last single "The Longer I Shit, The Harder I Cry" or whatever sounded like Fastball. A mild improvement.

Christ I forgot all about Len I'm a few hours from the beach and that song played constantly from every beach bar and radio one summer and without an iota of shame I hummed along merrily

I don't think they were a great band or anything, but I own all of their albums through Turn It Upside Down (which might be their best) and like probably 60%+ of their songs.

Chaki - paralysis of vocal cords, which Greil "I felt like smashing up babies at Winterland" Marcus thought was great, cuz he objected to a lyric or something

My high school band covered Two Princes for a battle of the bands. Yup, we did.
