Billie Jean was very good. I hadn't thought of in a while until I started this stupid poll.

latebloomer OTM. Slater has amazing "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle" skills, although I think Beau Bridges could take him.
― lindseykai, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 01:54 (sixteen years ago) link
heathers is gonna walk with this, but i'm going to vote for 'untamed heart' which was kind of sweet
― akm, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 03:21 (sixteen years ago) link
heathers may be a "better" movie but he serves a better role model for the children in Pump.

wtf is gleaming the cube, other than worst movie title ever???
― gershy, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 03:37 (sixteen years ago) link
gleaming the cube = dreadful skateboard movie i actually saw in the cinema.
― stevie, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 12:41 (sixteen years ago) link
Christian Slater plus John Woo = laffs. Broken Arrow has possibly the worst direction of any Major Motion Picture ever.

Where is this little slip?

ugh I have seen that movie. ugh ugh ugh
― horseshoe, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 19:54 (sixteen years ago) link
I voted for Gleaming the Cube.
Just to annoy you.
― nabisco, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 20:17 (sixteen years ago) link
Gleaming the Cube also known as A Brother's Justice (aka Skate or Die according to IMDB but I've never seen it called that!) Have to vote for PUTV, though. Soundtrack tape introduced me to Sonic Youth. TALK HARD
― Trip Maker, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 20:18 (sixteen years ago) link
I would like if Xtian Slater bought Bat Masterson a rooftop full of roses. (I just saw the trailer for that movie but I think I caught the whole thing, really.)
― Abbott, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 20:18 (sixteen years ago) link
Lets just note that The Legend of Billie Jean was pretty awesome, or at least it was when I was 10.
― nabisco, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 20:19 (sixteen years ago) link
Gleaming the Cube. just for the shot of them rolling down Harbor Blvd
― carne asada, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 20:23 (sixteen years ago) link
I"m going with Name of the Rose, for nostalgic reasons. (Ok ok, cause I fancied him in it.) I never really "got" Heathers, I think I just saw that film a little too late. Pump? It was pretty good, but his Jack N schtick got to me.
― stevienixed, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 20:27 (sixteen years ago) link
haha I LOVED mobsters when I was like 12, it was the best movie ever.
― Mark Clemente, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 20:29 (sixteen years ago) link
Hey, you've missed all the B and C movie crap he's been forced to take since gaining the rep of a raging drunk. Popular stuff on Saturday night on the Sci-Fi channel: In the Dark, Mindhunters, Hollow Man II...
― Gorge, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 20:33 (sixteen years ago) link
Which film had him and Tara Reid in it?
― stevienixed, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 20:40 (sixteen years ago) link
Very Bad Things was very bad, but Slater himself was OK. He's been the OK thing about a few lousy movies.
― Eazy, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 20:47 (sixteen years ago) link
xpost re Tara Reid
In the Dark.

as someone who had never heard of the Legend of Billie Jean and had to sit through it as an adult when his wife insisted on salvaging it from the $1 bin somewhere... that movie is terrible. And I am usually a BIG fan of teensploitation/kids gone wrong movies. The funniest part is when her midget sidekick (future voice of Bart Simpson) gets her first period.
other than that... um, FAIR IS FAIR what a slogan

anyway Heathers in a walk. I love Pump up the Volume as a 15 yo but oof saw it a few years later in college and was appalled.
Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Gleaming the Cube is only the greatest film of all time.
― gabbneb, Thursday, 11 October 2007 00:16 (sixteen years ago) link
Tnotr and UH are marginally more presentable than Putv and especially Heathers, but it's probably easier to defend the former's scenery-chewing over the lumpen characters of the latter.
― gabbneb, Thursday, 11 October 2007 00:24 (sixteen years ago) link
I forgot he was in tucker, a movie I liked lots at the time and haven't seen since
― gabbneb, Thursday, 11 October 2007 00:30 (sixteen years ago) link
uh, switch those formers and latters (should be obv)
― gabbneb, Thursday, 11 October 2007 03:06 (sixteen years ago) link
Gleaming the cube, def. What was the one where he had a monkey heart? That was about as spectacular as Bed of Roses.
― ENBB, Thursday, 11 October 2007 03:08 (sixteen years ago) link
Totally has to be Pump Up the Volume, tho a younger gother me would have said Heathers.
― Trayce, Thursday, 11 October 2007 03:30 (sixteen years ago) link
Monkey heart? This had to make things harder for every teenager who had to get heart surgery at the time. (The man was showing me some post-heart-surgery pamphlet that said "Your friends may ask if you have a monkey heart now." Yikes.)

I WILL FITE YOU
Also, Yeardly Smith voices Lisa Simpson. You call yourself a Simpsons fan?! Anyway, I just watched it again last night for the 100th time or so and it's still as good as ever.
