I remember not having an opinion on G-Love one way or the other until I saw them live. It's kind of hard not to feel contempt for someone who exudes self-satisfied "Oh yeah, I AM ROCKING YOUR WORLD; you've heard me on the radio" vibes when they are performing on a stage three feet off the ground in the middle of a tiny, tiny patch of grass. Plus, instead of rocking my world they were lulling it to sleep with boring boring music.

I half-expected dude to whip out his cock, cum on the three people dancing in front of the stage (as opposed to the 20 standing around drinking the free beer and the 300 who walked onto the quad, looked at the band and turned away with the most priceless "OH HELL NO" faces ever pulled) and shout "THIS IS WHAT GOOD MUSIC TASTES LIKE, BABY!" but that would have been interesting and I could see three minutes into the set that "interesting" just wasn't on the cards for that day. When the ad-hoc student band puts on a more engaging and professional show than you do, it's time for some healthy self-examination.

I can't remember anything off of that first album except the hook of "Cold Beverages", but I know for a fact I listened to it on a near daily basis in that summer between high school and college when I got royally wasted on a nightly basis with this gaggle of supreme bitches that were all from this rich people McNeighborhood across town.

My defence of G Love : I once saw him playing one of those industry guest list type gigs at the Borderline in London (I think I paid to get in!). Everyone in the audience spent the entire set talking, but he carried on like a trooper, albeit looking a bit embarrassed. The guy's a professional!

Is that a defence or an attack? I'm not sure.

I remember that one song - "Blues Music" was it? Blues music. Yeah right.
