Embedded YouTube videos don't seem to work. I get a "web page not available" error message. Is this a known issue?

yeah we've been talking about this, you can get around it by clicking "open in browser" on the post

Hmm. Does it never work for you, or does it just fail on specific posts?

When it fails, how does it fail? (loads a blank black player with no title / image, loads with title and image but says "video unavailable" when you try to play ...)

I get a little square, when I click on the post I get

FYI, have had an issue intermittently this week, where after opening a thread, the posts display, but neither the title block at the top nor the plus-sign at the bottom will appear, with or without scrolling/poking. i had thought maybe it was a problem with big threads cause it was mostly happening to me in the US Politics thread, but i just checked that one again and the problem didn't happen. (for all i know, this is idiosyncratic and will go away if i reboot my phone - just posting in case others can report yay or nay on experiencing this.)

Oops, my bad - it's happening when I go from the *thread* to the *post*. And seems to be pretty consistently happening on the US politics thread.

It's not screamingly likely unless we find an Android developer willing to deal with the code I wrote.

I put my (2 year old, android 11) phone in dark mode and Flagging works just fine like that

the 2022 sight & sound ballot thread seems to instantly crash flagging when opened

I have it with the Bruce Springsteen - Classic or Did? thread now. immediate crash.

Often I find that trying to post anything, in any thread, on my phone (Android) immediately crashes/freezes the app. I have to force quit and restart, and then it seems to work again.

Would it be possible to do something about YouTube embeds? Just a normal link would be fine.

I just submitted a release that should fix YouTube embeds, once it gets through Play Store review.

I'll probably bump this in a week to catch some of the people who have given up on YouTube embeds at this point.

They do, but generally you have to click through to watch the vid or even see what it is, it looks like this

generally I do this just to see what the vid is, and yt makes you watch an ad before it even reveals the title. is there a way to pull the thumbnail for these videos? suspect not, but thought it worth asking.

Yeah I'd have to bounce the YT request off a server in a different country, unfortunately.

Pulled from the Play Store because of.a screenshot that has been in the app listing for six years. Will fix soon, don't think anyone with the app should be affected.

On desktop, the elapsed time between the most recent and previous posts in the Beth Gibbons thread reads "twenty years pass". On Flagging, it reads "twemty years pass".

What's going on with Flagging? I can't use it any more, because I've been getting "unable to log in" errors for the last three days. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but now I can't log in at all.

For those having problems, what version of Android are you using?

just tried uninstalling then reinstalling version 1.28 on a 7.0 android and now at the edit account page when i try to log in after i type in email and password and go to SAVE i get

java.security.cert. CertPathValidatorException : Trust anchor for certification path not found

That's what I'm getting.

Can't reproduce it, so I'm sort of shooting in the dark, but there are a couple things I can try.

I have also been getting expired certification errors on ILX on Android Chrome for the past few days, also.
