fuck I forgot about that one

no way could I pick just one but the "ultimate cockblock" sketch is definitely in the running

frogbs, Wednesday, 27 May 2020 17:56 (three years ago) link

cat poster made me laugh so much

fatuous salad (symsymsym), Wednesday, 27 May 2020 17:57 (three years ago) link

Their hit:miss ratio varied pretty wildly for me esp in later seasons but for sheer quantity of amazing sketches/characters they're up there with some of the best I've seen

k*r*n koltrane (Simon H.), Wednesday, 27 May 2020 17:59 (three years ago) link

can't believe anyone doesn't like the ending of continental breakfast

fatuous salad (symsymsym), Wednesday, 27 May 2020 18:00 (three years ago) link

I can't believe I totally forgot about the aerobics sketch.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 27 May 2020 18:10 (three years ago) link

Has Keanu aged well? I remember it being very unfunny when I first tried to watch it (never finished it).

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Wednesday, 27 May 2020 18:16 (three years ago) link

I watched maybe 30 minutes and bailed. One-joke movie.

k*r*n koltrane (Simon H.), Wednesday, 27 May 2020 18:16 (three years ago) link

(I guess it's possible the other jokes came later.)

k*r*n koltrane (Simon H.), Wednesday, 27 May 2020 18:17 (three years ago) link

I watched the whole thing and it was bad

Rik Waller-Bridge (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 27 May 2020 18:17 (three years ago) link

Keanu was not good, though it did feature a subdued pre-Girls Trip Tiffany Haddish. Felt like a typical SNL movie, bad sketch premise extended to feature film length. Maybe find the Anna Faris parts online somewhere.

Nhex, Wednesday, 27 May 2020 18:21 (three years ago) link

I never saw the Big Boi/Andre sketch, holy lol

lmao oh my god

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Wednesday, 27 May 2020 18:22 (three years ago) link

I'm trying to think of how to even hypothetically run a key and peele sketch poll and it's dizzying. Each recurring premise/set of characters gets lumped into one slot I guess?

k*r*n koltrane (Simon H.), Wednesday, 27 May 2020 18:22 (three years ago) link

Maybe find the Anna Faris parts online somewhere.

She really was the queen of livening up otherwise subpar comedies for quite a while there

admittedly there are a lot of not very good or worse sketches I completely forgot about

k*r*n koltrane (Simon H.), Wednesday, 27 May 2020 19:00 (three years ago) link

continental breakfast suffers amidst this competition for its so-so ending imo

― k*r*n koltrane (Simon H.), Wednesday, 27 May 2020 17:11 (one hour ago) bookmarkflaglink

it suffers more for its lack of Key tbh

big boi and andre is up there

imago, Wednesday, 27 May 2020 19:01 (three years ago) link

soul food competition and I said biiiiitch.

the aerobics one was fun but it was also like, just a recreation of a real thing?

was rewatching some early season news with my gf, who had never seen the show, and it is for sure a bit more hit and miss than I had remembered. she wasn't particularly impressed and we ended up only watching a season or so.

Rik Waller-Bridge (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 27 May 2020 19:07 (three years ago) link

Obama mic drop on the street corner is almost too short to qualify but it’s another favorite.

Donald Trump Also Sucks, Of Course (milo z), Wednesday, 27 May 2020 19:08 (three years ago) link

iirc the later seasons were stronger. though some of the all-timer sketches are in seasons 1 and 2

Rik Waller-Bridge (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 27 May 2020 19:08 (three years ago) link

The real thing didn’t have a murder subplot, tbf

college obama + bobby mcferrin vs michael winslow are the best key and peele sketches

i never found the outkast one to be that funny

Spottie, Wednesday, 27 May 2020 20:24 (three years ago) link

the outkast one was funny, but not true to the rule dudes' dynamic.

bobby mcferrin vs michael winslow, that was hilarious. also remembering the lmfao sketch was pretty good.

voodoo chili, Wednesday, 27 May 2020 20:29 (three years ago) link

It always seemed to me like Andre 3000 had flamboyant style but kind of a dour personality, while Big Boi had a more restrained personal style but was also more cheerful.

I love a ton of K&P sketches but I don't think any has made me laugh harder than the crying gangster.

frogbs, Friday, 18 September 2020 14:59 (three years ago) link

I'd missed that one somehow. Extremely good

I kind of feel bad for it, but I can't watch this without thinking of their aerobics sketch:

Una mujer hizo su clase de aerobic sin darse cuenta de que estaban dando el golpe de Estado en Myanmar. Y pues puede verse como el convoy de militares llega al parlamento. pic.twitter.com/fmFUzhawRe
