4. America - Horse With No Shame (Todd Terje aka Wade Nichols Edit)

ha!

I love the America edit, though he doesn't do too much aside from beefing up the kick drum, so perhaps its more to the credit of the song?

Alicia Keys - You Don't Know My Moonflowers (Todd Terje Edit)

^SEARCH (haven't heard the original; don't know how much he changes things up)

is it just me or terje's edit of "like an eagle" sounds just like the original? or did i download the same song with the one wrongly tagged as the original?

"67. Moodymann - Lake Shore Drive (Todd Terje Rekutt)

the really interesting question is how he did an edit of a Moodymann track that isn't by Moodymann!?!?!

Did you ever find out the answer to that?

I've only ever been able to find the 9 minute version that is tagged both as the original and as the Terje remix. (ie I mean I've d/l several files tagged either as the original or the remix but they always seem to be the same track)

groovypanda, Wednesday, 2 June 2010 13:29 (thirteen years ago) link

I think Terje is the 10 minute and indeed similar, version - as corroborated by samples on music vending websites.

Proper actual decent-sounding compilation due
http://www.residentadvisor.net/news.aspx?id=11966

Permanent Vacation is set to release a new mix compilation by Todd Terje, entitled Remaster of the Universe.

The two-disc package collects more than 20 edits and remixes by the Norwegian disco specialist, most of which have seen release on labels like DFA, Playhouse and Mule. There are also two unreleased originals: Duliatten Disco Dandia's "Surat Surfin" and a cover of Ace of Base's "All That She Wants," performed, curiously, by an artist named Chuck Norris. (Which we wouldn't be surprised is yet another pseudonym for Terje himself.)

i suppose the terje edit is indeed similar to the original one. he only extended it and maybe some minor tweaking.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Saturday, 5 June 2010 11:08 (thirteen years ago) link

ok so this remaster of the universe thing is amazing. i had a similar reaction to the mungolian jetset discs, where i thought i knew it all and wasn't too incredibly stoked at first, but hearing things mixed together well and having everything bundled up together in one package is so obviously a great thing. sorta bummed that he isn't doing anymore remixes, but the band/original tracks included on the disc are actually pretty promising too

Listening to Remaster of the Universe now, it's making work very tolerable.

skip, Friday, 30 July 2010 19:42 (thirteen years ago) link

i've been playing it to death for the last month or two, might be one of the best things i've heard all year. his remixes lend themselves to working incredibly well within a mix anyway, but on this he tweaks things a lottt more and layers on the effects and it all works so well. also that chuck norris/ace of base thing is great (i even used it in a recent mix), and i like the polka number as well actually.

Good, but no way new champ (neither new nor better than Balearic Incarnation, Antena del Sol, Another Station, etc.)

Anyways, that Azoto mix/edit/whatever is amazing! Thanks!

I eagerly anticipate seeing Mr. Terje himself play here in 8 days!

I find the Hot Chip one a little predictably predictable. Joakim "Nothing Gold" RMX was great though.
